Congrats Bioware!
Game is so addictive!  I would play all night all day if I had the time.  For now I'll have to visit that world again at some to other time in the future.

in  best RPG
vs.
Borderlands
Demon Souls
Mario and Luigi: Bowsers Inside Story

I have friends who loved Borderlands and my roommate played Demon Souls so I am familiar with that one even more.

in best PC:
vs.
The Sims 3
Plants vs. Zombies
Left for Dead 2

EDIT:
as a side note, i really wish you can actually see the NUMBER of votes... I want to see how certain categories faired-- was it a KO or was it close? (not just related to DAO of course)

@spellNotFound: that's kind of a pathetic line up, no surprise DAO would win. PvZ was a good indie game, but really, wtf? It may be good, but it's certainly not material for PC GotY. Sims 3? That's kind of a joke, too. Oh well, a win is a win.

The VGA's are a lame marketing tool.

Still, no wonder it won for best RPG. I'm amazed it won against Sims 3 though, since that is aimed more for the casual gamer crowd. I would love to see those vote numbers as well.

Thanks for the info.

Bordlands, Demon's Souls, and Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story.

L4D2, The Sims 3, and ... some game called Plants Vs Zombies for Best PC game.

Not that it matters, VGAs are a joke.

...And I was incredibly slow. Oh well.

PvZ "indie"? Have you never heard of PopCap Games? They completely own the casual market, next to EA and The Sims. Peggle? Bejeweled?

Two of the biggest casual games of the year up and two of the biggest core games of the year. A good balance.

One thing I will say - DA:O was one of the most original games I've played all year. Everything else was pretty much a sequel or a game based on an established IP, although Arkham Asylum was a great game. I'm sad it didn't at least get nominated for Game of the Year, although it's not surprising since the VGAs are aimed at the Mountain Dew swilling tween demographic who want guns, boobs, and more guns.

I love the Bioware team for making DAO possible, yet I hate the Bioware team for not making more of the same, whatever am I to do now?.

I must have more.

Congrats, Bioware!

The two VGA awards can now be placed beside the two music awards. Four awards for a single game. Impressive!

Bioware, DA:O is a superlative game. Please continue with DLC and anything else you have up your sleeves -- we want more of your magic!

Popcap was once indie, I still consider them indie. It wasn't a professionally mastered game, just silly and sticking to their indie spirit.

Not awesome at all, really. I feel more like we (game developers, industry, media and players collectively) dodged a bullet. I don't want to think about how I'd feel if a game of this pedigree failed to win RPG of the year.
