Presumably, DA3 will have a new protagonist. The thing is, Cassandra spend the whole of DA2 hyping Hawke as the only one who can stop the mage templar conflict, and expressed strong determination to find him. Given that he's "the most important person in the Dragon Age universe", surely he needs to play a role in the events he started. If he's not the player character in DA3, he still needs to appear as a companion or something. He's just too important to "mysteriously vanish without a trace".

And then there's the warden. Last I saw him (or, in my case, her) at the end of witch hunt, Morrigan gave him a gift "of great value" and he walked off. I understand that he can also go through the mirror with Morri, but thats not much of an ending for him either. It seems the only people who get closure on him are the ones who killed him off against the archdemon. I want to know what gift Morrigan gave him, and where he went after that. Or, if he went through the mirror, what was on the other side? What happened next? Again, he's too important to "mysteriously vanish without a trace".

At the end of DA2, Leliana noted that Hawke was "gone" just like the Warden. We just want to know where they went. This thread is for campeigning to bring them back, and speculating about what happened to them.

The empress of Orlais captured them and is using them in a blood magic ritual that will give her eternal life.

I'd love to have them both back as a protagonist, being able to choose one or the other to see a different side of the story.

I'd love to have them both back as NPCs.

I'd like to have them both back in a cameo.

I, at the very least, expect their dissapearance to have meaning and an eventual revelation going forward.

Similar to the endings to KOTOR 1/2 where Revan and the Exile just "disappear" to the ends of the universe.

So lazy...

They are both supposed to come back at some point during the events of DA3.

I think Flemeth has them somewhere. She's the only real link between the two. I really hope we learn what happened to them, its annoying when your player characters, who you've been building for 100+ hours, just ignominiously disappear without a trace.

Is that a developer statement?

I assume that some of this was going to be addressed in the cancelled DA2 expansion, at least regarding Hawke.

The warden is a much trickier issue, since its rather likely that there is no warden.  Either the final sacrifice or wandering off through the magic mirror could have dealt with that issue.

I perfectly fine with letting them disappear. I don't want my characters to be forced into a situation in future games without my input.

It's definitely a mystery to be explored at some point.

My current working theory is that Flemeth is scooping them up after events have unfolded to build a new pantheon of gods or something.

I read somewhere that Flemeth ate them.
I'm pretty sure it was all in jest, but all the same, that's the theory I'm sticking with. Image IPB

Warden dies either by killing AD or by the taint.

Hawke explodes like a blood sausage.

Hahahaha wsandista you silly man! Anyway I'd really want to know what happened to my warden as well. It was weird, my warden died after killing the AD but Leliana(I think) still said he was gone. So....does that mean that someone took his body? What if someone violated it? I feel dirty...

I think she meant "gone" as in "gone croaked". If you're warden's dead, you've got closure. Unlike the rest of us :crying:

She could have been talking about the Orlesian Warden who presumably would then arrive at Amaranthine and do the Awakening events--he/she may actually be more important in the current political arena than the deceased US ending Original Warden just due to having all that stupidly overpowered Epic Lootz.

Personally, I figure Hawke and The Warden met up in a bar somewhere, exchanged stories, and decided to go off into the Deep Roads in the hope of finding out WHAT the HECK is GOING ON down there.  I expect between them they will unearth some seriously weird mystical bullcrap.

Warden vanished in a puff of development convenience because BW didn't want to deal with all the variables that could arise from all the different Wardens.

Hell, they couldn't even get whether or not Leliana lived or died right.

I've never read a book, played a game or watched a movie that described in detail what happened to the protagonist after the events of the media itself. As such, I am absolutely fine with a "walk off into the sunset" or a "vanished from the stage of history" type ending.

For all their hard work, Flemeth decided to give the two heads up on what's coming their way. Needless to say, they decided to get the hell out of Dodge while they still can.

They now share a large private island off the Qunari homeland. (Surprisingly, the Qunari we know today are self-exiled religious fanatics. Their homeland is much more moderate.) They spend their days sipping pina colada, and ogling scantily clad everything.

Play as the Warden and Hawke as they comb the beach in a never-ending conflict to prove who has the most "game" in upcoming Dragon Age III DLC: "Operation Babe Hunt"

It's obvious once you look at the evidence. I'm honestly suprised that no one has mentioned it before. The perpetrators are a group of men possessed by a great evil, though they are no more than puppets doing the bidding of this vile cabal...

Bronies.

That is correct, the Warden and Hawke, despite their might, were powerless against the legions of Bronies empowered by the dread Overlord Twilight Sparkle.

What is their intent? We can only speculate.

And pray...

-ahem-

Or Flemeth ate them. I'm also partial to that theory.

If they do come back even as a cameo and they have a conversation with the new protagonist,it would be pretty cool if you can choose what your Warden and Hawke say even if they are not PC's.

Unsatisfaying conclusions that will never be rectified is what happened to them. One of the devs said as much when they announced DA2 would be getting no further additional content.

The Warden left to another plane of existence after watching gameplay trailers for DA2.

Hawke got eaten by a bear and everybody forgot about him after a few days.

Both of them (Warden if he is alive) deserves/needs/must play a central part in the future of DA imo. I mean, Cassandra and Leliana was looking for them at the ending of DA2 as the only people powerful enough to end the conflict, afaik.

As for Morrigan, OGB & Flemeth, they're also too much of a pinnacle in the overall plot of the Dragon Age franchise to be left out of the central part of the main storyline in the future of DA.
