If you're having problems importing your character into the game, like me, here's a little tip:

1) Download fraps www.fraps.com
2) Launch the CC and take screenshots of each section
3) Launch DA:O in window mode
4) Make new character and compare with screenshots from fraps.

Hope that helps.

I'm confused. Why do you need to download some program called fraps to take screenshots? The character creator saves any screenshots you take with it anyway in a subfolder (called screenshots, oddly enough).

My Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/Screenshots if I recall correct.

Ah, thanks. I did not know the CC has the ability to take screenshots. I just suggested using fraps because it is fairly easy and its a great free tool for measuring fps in any game.

Anyways, using the method above I recreated my CC character in game to about 95% in 2 minutes.

you can Alt+Print screen and ctrl-p into paint. that's sometimes easier.

Hope that helps.

Fixed! You don't need fraps.

to be fair, the first thing I thought to do was use FRAPS, then I realized it would be easier just to write down my clicks, so..that's what I did.

Thanks. I was just trying to share something I found helpful. ...Then again I am a Marketing Executive by day... and Dalish Dark Spawn @ss Kicker by Night so you're doubts are not totally unfounded. I do not work for fraps however.

How did you fix it?

you post that because of the lost settings for the face?

I heard someonesay, that you need to go in customization window of the chosen char AND THEN push the arrow for "Prev" until your back at the screen with all chars listed; then it seems to "reboot" the settings. al least try it out...

That works in some cases. The problem is, if you had a tattoo, it won't copy over correctly. If you has blush set on the face, for females, it won't copy over correctly. Any changes to Eyeshaow color or intensity and they'll reset to your preset's default as well. Not to mention the minor annoyance of the portrait Background and Expression not saving correctly (it almost never does in the CC anyway, but it also doesn't import correctly). Combine that with the fact that if you try to edit any of those settings to 'fix" them your character loses everything and reverts to a preset, forcing you to do exactly what you suggest; back up to the intro screen and re-load them, so you either don't use the CC, or you have to deal with that it gives you regarding your tattoo, blush settings, and eyeshadow. Hence why I've suggested that people re-build their characters. Not to mention it identifies my female human's background as "Dwarven Noble" (though the correct Human Origin DOES load)...it's just well and goodly borked.

Yeah, if you do decide to recreate your character from scratch I should also note that the lighting in the in-game CC is better (not good, but better) than the standalone CC. Also, you can preview more voices for each character in-game than outside.

Doesn't work for me. I'm still seeing dwarfs and elves with the wrong tattoos. As for faces changing shape I don't get that. Apparently it's something to do with the sliders being relative to the presets instead of (as I ahd assumed) the presets being combinations of slider values.

So all my characters are based off the first preset each time (because I looked at the presets and decided I could do better) so my characters faces don't change shape.

Although I'm probably going to do the click counting and screenshots of slider positions thing as I enjoy the character creation process (and it'll be easier to recreate each characterand be sure I've got it right  than to import them all  and then scrutinising each one to see if it's changed).

Combine that with the fact that if you try to edit any of those settings to 'fix" them your character loses everything and reverts to a preset

And yet I never have that problem either so that's probably a bonus. I did consider uninstalling the character creator and moving the characters manualy to prevent the import process breaking anything but it could be a case of the import process working just fine and the Character Creator not saving propperly (I never was sure if the tattoo bugs when examining characters to dit or tweak etc were due to them not being saved propperly or not loaded up again propperly by the character creator).

So I might manualy import a few then delete them and recreate them propperly anyway.
