i have a dragon age ultimate edition cd
windows vista 32 bit home premium
directx11
intel core2quad q8200 @2.33mhz
3070mb ram
ati radeon hd 3800 amd

the game crashes radomnly.  the screen will go blank and i can still hear the music. 
tried updating ati driver, changed uac setting, patch 1.05 dragon age, reinstalling.  used a clean boot up(shut off all background programs. 

any other ideas

You've offered a fairly good summary of the physical hardware, for which you are ahead of most new folks by a great deal, but what about drivers and similar software? Look at Raen Imrahl's "Read First" to use that to suggest the missing bits. Nothing in what you wrote suggests any possibilities, so far.

My game does it also, but only at the beginning of combat and the ending of combat.

i found the thread. i am not sure what the next step is. i downloaded the latest ati driver

i have found the referenced guide. i tried to contact ea for support but i am not sure if there remains support for dragon age as the support types are "greyed out" for dragon age.

If its the same sort of problem as me, turning off buffing and AA will allow it to work a lot better, it may still crash, but at least not as much as it used to.
