One thing that kind of annoyed me was the thinly veiled disgust the authot had for over 90% of all the other female romanceables. Mainly Miranda.
Seriously fan girls, why do you hate the women of Mass Effect so much?

Not to mention that almost all of the female characters, except for maybe ME1 Ashley, are more physically attractive than Femshep, which I guess could make some players jealous. I don't know why though... renegade Femshep makes me question my sexuality =P

Probably the same reason a lot of male players hate Jacob and Kaidan.
I'm going to go ahead and say that this is pretty much 100% of the answer lol. Being a female gamer myself, and having been all over the realm of gaming, I'm used to the fact that I'm more than likely going to see women in games portrayed to show "assets" that are more aesthetically pleasing exaggerated in various ways. Just because I'm used to it however, doesn't mean I have to like it--it just won't stop me from playing the game, especially if the story is still enjoyable. Sex does sell after all, which is unfortunate, because it's becoming less and less important that the quality of the story matters more over physical depiction of female characters.
Anyway, as for depicting other female characters in a negative light--Miranda really is my only peeve, and not because of how she looks, but because she's crazy. I don't dislike the way she's written, I think she's written to sound messed up and completely nuts.

Really, though, I would like to hear your thoughts on why you feel that way.

She's nutso. In ME2 she spends her time opening up to you and telling you how woe it is to be perfect, even after Shepard is like "no dude, you have personality too. Remember that part? Personality. Not just looks, can't manufacture that." Then if you seduce her, she uses all of those feminine wiles to charge at you, you know, the ones she hated so much.
Nevermind that in ME3 she's like "so how are you? Oh I'm fine, hey by the way, can I use your Alliance resources and not tell you why? I know we're friends but I'm going to go blank slate here and say I can't trust you..." She basically only contacts you just to tell you that she can't tell you anything. Lol. Awesome.

While I'm not happy with her status in ME3, that's more the writers' fault for sidelining the character. They merely worked in the most appropriate justification for her not joining your team. In this case, again, it is that she doesn't want to burden others with her problems and so operates independently, even if that puts her in great danger. And I'd agree that the second conversation is almost redundant, since it moves almost nothing forward and exists purely for that bit about Kai Leng on which her survival depends.
Anyway, thank you for the insight. It's always interesting to see how others perceive certain characters.

Not trying to change your mind but Shepard isn't reassuring her that she has a personality. It's about opening up at all, since she's so resolute in trying to deal with everything herself that she only asks for help with Oriana grudgingly (and because of game mechanics. lol). Factoring the romantic element into the whole character arc seems a mite odd, considering that's only one part, and not one everyone will even witness.

Anytime. But yeah it's not her looks that irked me. I mean, I got that part, and it's understandable. Anyone who was basically manufactured I imagine would have many emotional issues, which was displayed. Playing as femShep however did allow, and I imagine even as maleShep for a moment where they tell Miranda that her looks aren't everything, and there's more to her than what even she believes of herself.
I'm a little peeved about how they sidelined a lot of the ME2 characters in ME3. Especially if you took the time to romance them. I'm not convinced that Thane should have lived, because it was clear from the get-go that he'd be dying anyway, Kepral's Syndrome being pretty incurable and all, don't think only a year's time between the end of ME2 and the beginning of ME3 would change that. Jacob's circumstance was just out of left field entirely--but I guess Shepard now understands how Ashley/Kaidan feels if he/she "cheated" on them in ME2 haha.
I think I was the most disturbed by the completely unceremonious way TIM ended. He's a major background player throughout the entire game, and when you finally see him face to face the end with him is so anti-climactic it hurts the soul lol.

Hmm, maybe it's different for a female Shepard, but if it's the conversation I'm thinking of, that's not quite how it goes.EmEr77 wrote...

She doesn't just rely on her looks, she actually 'accepts' them more than boasts about them. She doesn't feel she can take credit for anything she's achieved because her intelligence and looks were all tailored to give her an advantage. It's all stuff her father paid for.
And, yeah, I think a lot of ME2 squadmates were let down by shifts in the writing team. I know some had left and some were assigned characters they'd not done before, some of them first-timers. Although, I think whoever wrote Miranda did a fairly good job with what they were given. Can't say the same for a few of the others.

Well gee, that's a bit immature, don't you think?flippedeclipse wrote...
As a Garrus fangirl myself, I think it's more how the female characters are shown than anything. Certain characters, like Jack, Miranda, Samara, EDI, etc. have their assets flaunted a lot on screen as eye-candy for guys, but personally it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It can get hard to see past the constant ass/chest/robotbody shots and actually focus on the character; it's too easy to just dislike them instead.
Sure, I don't like having Miranda's ass shoved in my face every 5 seconds either, but that does not affect my opinion of her as a character in the slighest. Letting your opinions of a character's (or person's) physical assets get in the way of your opinions of said character (or person's) personality is not only immature but shallow.

EDI/Eva Coré is a million times worse than Miranda. I want to take this moment to reference the name of the pedal digits of a certain humpbacked animal living in north africa, the middle east and parts of central asia.KingNothing125 wrote...

No doubt. I agree. I posted almost exactly the same thing yesterday in a thread about EDI.
