We won't be banned for using this, right?

they simply can't even if they wanted to. origin and ME3 both don't have any tools to identify any kind of third party programs used and what kind of IP I block doesn't have to do anything with the game itself. this kind of stuff always worked and as I said not only in this game but other ones as well that are based on User hosting games. it was never ban or detectable in any game I know of.

Just wanted to add that the tool sadly doesn't work for me. When I tried to start the executable it just closes down after I press on the Windows Popup "Yes" to execute. I use Windows 7 64 Bit system.

I keep getting the invalid download parameters error. Can someone reupload?

Sadly, I'm getting this too. The Rapidshare link just...doesn't work. Which is a shame, because I was really looking forward to trying this.

Sounds good, will give it a try.

So I downloaded it, installed it as the readme said, but when I try to start it nothing happens.

with a simple tool you can also just kick other players while in mid game as host. You just block their ip and boom they are gone. Just saying.

This kind of thing exists for other games as well that don't allow you to kick alone a person as host like it is in ME 3. never again I say =]. If you leech,  you're afk -->kick midgame

Haha :D Gotta try this the next time somebody with stupid loadout joins my lobby.

I can imagine a bitter host kicking players in extraction wave, though

First off, I added a new download link to the OP.

For those who can't get it to work, can you try right-clicking the exe and running as an adminstrator? I have noticed that this may cause some issues.

For those who still can't get it to work, can you do this:

1) Start a command prompt using Start-->Run-->cmd
2) Post the output of the command "java -version" (minus the quotes)
3) Post the output of the command "echo %processor_architecture% (minus the quotes)
4) Tell me whether the "temp" directory in the program folder disappeared.
5) Tell me whether there are files named "jnetpcap.dll" and "jintellitype.dll" in the "lib" folder.

Outside of my primary machine, I tried it on my old laptop (a 32-bit system) and it setup and ran fine. Without WinPCap installed, it would do nothing when opening the executable. After it installed it worked fine. I'll try it on a third computer (64-bit) today.

I'll upload two simple zip distributions a little later without the setup.bat business.

2 it tells me it's not recognised as internal or external commands, AMD64, the temp folder is there but empty, and both dll are there.

I tried it last night.

It would run but when I hit capture I would get two beeps then nothing. I imagine this means it couldn't identify the host?

This is on Win7 Pro 64bit. Java is 1.6.0_26-b03 processor architecture is of course AMD64

I tried running it as an administrator with no change.

Okay that "not recognized" part is likely the culprit. That implies a problem with one fo the OS's environment variables. The executable is basically just invoking the "java" command (with various arguments supplied). So, if you can't run it on the command line like that, the exe is failing at that part as well

I'll get back with a distributable fix hopefully soon.

That doesn't sound good. It could be one of any number of things. Perhaps security related, I don't know. It looks like I may have to enable dumping of the debug logs after all. I'll make a version that does so as well as address the environment variable issue.

Dont work as intended. Have Win7/64.
Program starts and sits there at my secondary screen, doing nothing. Hotkeys dont work. I have to alt+tab out of the game and klick buttons.
Then i get the hostname, the region, the country and nothing else. The clients dont appear into the list.

Thanks for the info. I'm not sure about your exact issue yet since the following should prevent the program from starting, but I think I pinpointed the possible source of a very general hotkey problem.

I currently swap the hotkey library between the 32/64 bit versions based on the system architecture. I did some digging and have found that the DLLs are technically bound to whether your Java install is 32 or 64 bit. This is a big revelation, as I think a lot of folks run 32-bit Java even on 64 bit machines. So, I'll update my setup script to reflect this and have that in a fixed release a little later.

I'll also make a small Java troubleshooting script for an issue that I know one or two folks here are affected by.

The download links aren't currently working. "All free download slots are in use." Might be just me.

Could try minus.com?

Yeah.  I have UAC set on Default (always notify), have MSE for antivirus, and I am behind a router. :)  I thought it could perhaps be any of these things (though I would hope that running as Admin and saying "yes" to the dialogue box would rule out UAC).  Don't know if Windows Firewall, MSE or my router are interfering.  I might try messing around some more when I get a chance.

If it helps:
I have both Java-Versions installed. 64Bit last, so it should be the default Version.

edit: Is it possible to implement an auto-update mode? It would be very handy for using with an multi monitor setup.

Don't know if it's relevant, but I'm using a French keyboard. Just in case it matters.

The rapidshare link isn't linked to the first one, (Does that make sense?) if you click "https://rapidshare.com/files/1955501417/MEPinger.zip" it takes you to "http://www.filefactory.com/file/57iwsw78kk9/n/MEPinger_zip"
