In the first room on the left are three small, wooden, upright boards on the floor that release an electric charge when my main character passes only. Any hints on what this is? The manual does not address....or at least I can't find it.

Thanks Maria, but I don't buy that. The charge does no damage to my character and it only responses to my main character. I'm still interested in what the charges are supposed to do.

I think they are simply supposed to startled he unhardened adventurer. The orphanage is clearly drawing on some horror themes.
