In this topic there are two main areas that
I am going to address, namely:
The N7 rating
The achievement system
Currently the N7 rating’s primary functions
seem to serve mainly as a ranking system for the chart, and possibly an
indication of the amount of hours the players invest into their MP sessions,
hence possible indication to the amount of gears, skills the players have
already earned.
As for the achievement system, it current
main function is a record of the players’ single player & multiplayer
challenges
Proposal:
While N7 rating & achievement system can
justify itself as it is, there still could be more to it value than simply
record, ranking and time indicator.
It can also serve as a means to unlock
additional weapons, customizations, equipments, challenges etc.
For instance, a player having N7 rating of
100 (possibly promoted 10 characters),who has also own a level X Predator,
might have acquired the first criteria to unlock “M3MarkII – Predator” (Ultra
Rare) , a special edition of Predator modified with Turian tech, allows it to
be even more effective in combat.
The means to acquire it?
- reach N7 rating of at least 100
- own a M3 Predator on Level
- earn the achievement “ ThePredator” (unlock this challenge when player reach N7rating 100, follow by killing X number of X enemy type with Predator / a level X predator” In addition to that, successfully complete “The Predator” achievement will unlock “The Predator” character customizations for X class.
Alternatively one could always add single player challenges to the criteria, ie. finish single player on hard difficulty.
Side note: complete “The Predator” challenge
will only unlock level 1 of “M3MarkII Predator”, to reach level X, the player
cold either get the weapon level up through packs in the store or promotional
packs / reach X N7 rating and achieve higher difficulty M3 Predator related challenges.
To be honest I think the some players might find the second one, rather
tedious, repetitive and possibly annoying. . . that is up to you guys to
assess.
Never the less, while the mark up additions
of the weapon can prove to be more convenient to acquire, higher level mark up weapons
will be were the challenge really start, and will require lots of efforts to
acquire it.
For example:
M3Mark X Predator “the Praetorian”
“The Praetorian” was crafted from ancient Prothean
technology recovered from the black markets. Unlike the other Predator series
weapons, Praetorian fires energy charged rounds infused by the Prothean core
tech, allowing it to detonate on contact, causing small area damage to the
targets it hit.
Weapon statistics:
When armed, every bullet fired has 35%
chance to cause bleed / freeze/ incinerate/warp as area effect to enemies
within 2 meters
When equipped(when player is using his
other weapon) instead of Praetorian, Praetorian has 20% chance grant the player
the ability to automatically cloak for 6 seconds, when hit by range/ melee
attack, this ability cannot occur more than once every 12 seconds (this ability
will only be available when Praetorian reaches level X)
How to Acquire it:
Reach N7Rating of at least 1500
in possession of Predator X, Predator Mark V, Avenger X and one other N7 level X weapon (this can be negotiable)
Accomplished “The Praetorian” achievement: Kill 1000 Banshee/ Atlus / Geth Prime
with any Predator class weapons below Predator Mark V, successfully
complete this challenge will also unlock additional class customizations
and “The Praetorian Elite” equipment gears (only unlockable through
this challenge), some players might hate the team for putting up such
tedious challenge though. . . .
So that roughly pointed out the suggestions regarding the N7 Ranking and the achievement system, N7rating system and the achievement system can compliment each other to extend Multiplayer or even single player's replayability, Mass Effect
is a great game with lots of potentials, let keep exploring those potentials
shall we?
