In my first play through, I thought it was one of the best games ever and would've given it 9/10 or 10/10 with no problem (that was right before Harbinger landed and the following crappy ending we got). However after a second and a third play through (the third one was the last, where I just played through the entire series to get a better idea about why the ending sucked), I have to admit that my enthusiasm was misplaced. I was too eager to love this game and didn't and probably didn't notice the flaws.

Example, when I first played Fallout 2 I thought it was a 9/10 game, but after playing another run, I noticed the annoying trend of bugs. It fell down to a 7/10. Now, today,  with all the patches made, it's back to 9/10.

While the combat mechanics was without a doubt the best in the series, it was incredible linear, it made even ME2 which was pretty damn linear, seem open. Forced to go one route and select this and that mission. Shepard's head bugged me out too, when he was talking to Liara, he seem to have gotten possessed or something, the way he his turned. And of course the facial save that didn't work. The DLC that was already in the game, left a bitter taste in my mouth too (I still haven't bought it and I refuse to do so) as did the sight of paying real money for weapon packs (I'll never buy one). Other than that, the music was pretty great, the auto dialogue, while it sucked for main squaddies it at least gave us something, and whether you want to admit it or not, it beats having Garrus constantly telling us, he has to calibrate.

So in short I'll give Mass Effect it 7/10

It's a good game, but it's not perfect.

Updated: Decided to give it a 7/10 (was 8/10 before) instead, since while I had fun. I haven't replayed the game in a long time. (It's not even installed).

8/10 is fair, even if it has a good ending it is still not flawless...but I am just a bit more attached to the story so 8.5 from me, well if the EC turn out to be kick a** then its 9 or even 9.5

It's a 7.5/10 for me. Even without the weaksauce ending, it's the weakest entry in the trilogy for me, and i'll quickly list off my reasons:

1. Bad journal system
2. Auto Dialogue
3. Side quests reduced to boring eavesdropping scanning quests
4. Romance scenes for most characters are pitiful
5. Final mission is rushed and anticlimatic
6. Intro is rushed and sloppy
7. No exploration
8. No boss fight
9. A lot of choices didn't amount to anything
10. Too much emphasis on MP
11. Vent kid
12. Day 1 DLC

This is why I got a bit of a problem when people say the first 99% of the game is perfect.

8/10 The good bits outweigh the bad, 7/10 including the ending it hurts the replay value.

If you ignore the ending, 7-8/10.

Reasons for Decision:

Voice acting is superb. Music is superb. Combat is better than ever; has some flaws, but still good. Large segments of the story are top notch. Most of Mars, all the way through Thessia, are at least "good."

There are repeatable bugs that shouldn't have ever made it past testing. In particular, 75% of the time when I speak to EDI I get ****ing stuck. That **** was pissing me the **** off HARD. The Crucible severely threatened immersion and suspension of disbelief when it was first introduced on Mars; it never got better. Kai Leng was not properly supported as being a supposed big badass, and so his segments all seem lame and cheesy. Fighting Kai Leng is not adrenaline-pumped action, it's annoying. The second half of Priority: Earth is easily the worst mission in the game (after the FOB scene. This segment does not include anything past the Conduit Run, because we are ignoring that for this post.)

Tuchanka and Rannoch gave me damn high hopes for the actual ending of the game, and the Crucible. The emotional investment that was created in ME1, carried though in ME2, and then finally realized in ME3 was powerful. The game fully deserves a 7 or 8 rating, even though it shoots itself in the feet with the endings. Including the ending scene, I'd only knock it down by 1, to be honest. I just don't see below a 6 being a fair rating for the game overall.

I give ME3 an 8.0
Very good game, but in addition to all the negatives listed above I'd have to say I hated the direction they took Cerberus and TIM.

But it was fun. I wasn't furious about the ending (which does suck) simply because I thought the entire story was kind of lame...

6/10 at best, I can be pretty harsh on games, so that's not exactly a horrid score.

7.5 out of 10 for me. If I liked multiplayer more it would be a solid 8.

Hmmm this ones difficult for me as I am certainly not in the ME3 is perfect except for the ending club.

But first the pros. The voice acting is incredible. Some of the music is fantastic. An end once and for all is the only thing that made the ending watchable. The combat is vastly improved and I truly enjoyed playing the game for the most part. And a couple of the subplots were masterfully done, The Genophage conclusion is what the whole game should have been. Searingly emotional and with the sense that all the descisions I had made had meant something. I truly felt part of the Universe.

Unfortunately there are the cons.

Auto-dialogue, the utterly useless journal are just a couple of minor quibbles.

But its the almost non existant main plot that destroys the game for me. What on Earth was all that about. The beginning is pathetic. Why weren't we prepared? What was wrong with the defence council? What was wrong with Shepard himself? Don't even get me started on the boy. I don't appreciated being forced to feel something for someone.

The Crucible is utterly unforgivable. No long lost Reaper off button? I've moaned about the Crucible more times than I care to say but I truly believe that the Crucible's backstory completely breaks the Universe. Just as much as the Catalyst.

All the villains are destroyed. The Reapers have no menace, we don't even get to see our main villain. Harbinger, hello? Anyone home? No story I know except LOTR has ever pulled this off successfully, but at least we never saw Sauron, at least he didn't sod off on holiday in the middle of the story like Harby apparently did. Cerberus and TIM are reduced to James Bond villains. Kai Leng - just, WTF.

And the endings. Just ... there are no words. But its biggest sin is what it does to Shepard, the so-called main character. Strong soldier into a little weak boy doing what the villain wants for no adequately explained reason.

So in my honest opinion. 5/10

Vastly improved combat, but that is meaningless to me in a main plot that is nonsensical and lore destroying, whilst Tuchunka and Rannoch save the score from being even lower.

Ignoring the endings. 9 if you have played the previous games. 7.5 if you have not.

For those who have not played a ME game, there is solid gameplay, fun powers, great voice acting, good graphics, an entertaining multiplayer and a compelling sci-fi setting and plot. It is solid, but you will have little to no investment in solving some of the major plot points. Mass Effect is meant to be played as a trilogy, not a stand alone game.

However, if you have played a previous game, the story is a lot better. Later missions make up for a somewhat slow leaving Earth mission. You see every former squadmate in some capacity in the story minus Morinth (Banshee doesn't count), and you have excellent closure to lingering issues such as the genophage and the Quarian/Geth conflict.

Small issues such as the autodialogue, numerous fetch quests, and horrendous journal can largely be ignored by everything the game gets right, such as the improved cover mechanics, the return of weapon and armor customization, and the phenomenal main missions.

Overall, the first 99% of the game was a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. The good parts far outweigh the little issues, and almost every character comes back to make an appearance.

7/10 due to one thing- side quests

Not enough to do, those stupid fetch quests were not a substitute.

As I didn't play the first ME (PS3 user) I only had ME2 to use as a point of reference. With that in mind I was pretty unimpressed with the whole SP experience in ME3. The ending, while a complete travesty, was only a small part of my dissatisfaction.

The game felt too "on the rails" compared to ME2 where I could jet off to random planets and find little bases/missions to complete. The whole delivery on quests felt clunky also, I really didn't like feeling I had to complete quests asap because I might lose the chance depending on the campaign progression or the fact that a boatload of the quests were lazy planet scans and then a run through the Citadel.

On the subject of the Citadel, I loathed the fact I couldn't access my ship from the lifts, I don't want to run through the docks everytime I want to get back to my ship. Or, when I'm on my ship, I have to endure the two women's inane chatter while I'm being scanned, seriously I'll take a loading screen anyday.

I also missed not having multiple quest hubs to visit. In ME2 I had Omega, the Citadel, Illium, and to a lesser extent Tuchanka and the Shadowbroker base. Most of the locations in ME3 are beautiful to look and it's a real shame we're relegated to the Citadel as the sole quest hub.

The lack of any real choice between Paragon and Renegade was disappointing as well, you essentially play Paragon regardless of your preference. In all honesty, I generally opted for the boyscout in ME2 but it was fun to be a complete git occasionally, I don't get this feeling from ME3.

If I had to give it a score as an SP experience only it would be 6/10. I struggle to generate any interest in replaying the game now after a few playthroughs. ME2 I played till my fingers almost bled.

I think my major beef with the game that I rarely see discussed is; if you start a new game, almost every decision made for you is bad. Wreav is the Krogan leader, your crew is dead, there is no Kirrahe (this is true even in my import games because I don't have access to ME1), squadmates just aren't there in some missions... etc, etc, etc.

We really need a comic like Genesis for new players and something like Gibbed's save editor so we don't have to play all 3 games over again just to make those decisions.

But, all that aside, I'd give it an 8/10. -1 for the end (s) -1 for everything else put together. It's still fun to play through.

Its a solid 9.5 for me.

The ending is horrid, no doubt. But the journey to that ending is really EPIC. People say many decision made in last 2 games did not amount to anything. But I don't expect every decision to influence the story anyway. People r just too stupid to think that every decision they made was smthing that wud result in a new ending entirely.

Although there r some decision which cud have influenced the story but didn't, for that I think there r Single player DLCs...

7/10, even if the ending would have been great the game still has flaws, the auto-dialoge and cut scene incompetence annoyed me, it has quite a few number of glitches, you have to play MP to get the "best" ending, Renegade wasn't Renegade anymore, the journal system, the eavesdropping and the fetch quests, etc.

A 6.5 or 7.0 (out of 10) before the ending, after, it dropped dramatically lower.

Too many flaws and glitches to be acceptable AAA material, especially from a developer like Bioware.

Don´t be ridiculous, some of the decisions were totaly smashed to da face .... single one thing which could compare with epicness to previous games was Tuchanka others you can maybe compare with something like a Game of Thrones or Dragon Age 2 (which sucked for what was expected)
