I never complained about having an extra companion or some extra cool gear for buying a game new and within a certain time period. But imagine my surprise when after having ME3 preordered for a year, I pick the game up on release day and find out that there is no extra dlc for preordering. Do you think this is a new trend BiowEAr is going to and DA3 will follow with no preorder dlc (except for Ultimate/Signature addition for an extra $20)?

We don't even know if there is ever going to be a DA3, much less about preorders.

Then let's pretend that there is going to be a new Dragon Age game.

Probably there will be preorder DLC, as it's a usual marketing method nowadays. However, it seems quite pointless to me to worry about or discuss such things at the moment, as DA 3 isn't even officially announced.

If you read my post, Bioware hasn't offered preorder dlc with their last game. Why would they go back to it?

Well....as far as I know, ME 3 has Preorder DLC, those for example:

http://masseffect.wi...N7_Warfare_Gear
Depends of course on the store where you preordered it...

Then either you didn't pre-order, or they cheated you and didn't give you your codes.
What region you live in, North America?

DA2 and ME3 had pre-order DLC, Jerry. They were called The Exiled Prince and From Ashes. You can look them up.
Penny Arcade (or one of those shows they host on Penny Arcade) made a good case for pre-order DLC. Basically, they point out that the number of fans interested in additional content for a game drops sharply after said game's release, making them far less profitable. Their argument was a bit more in-depth than that, but it basically boils down "Even if the post-release DLC is the same as the pre-order release, they will always sell more of the pre-order DLC."
I don't have a problem with it myself, provided they're not locking out something vital.

Considering that DA2 and ME3 both did I'd assume that DA3 probably will, yes.

You had to specifically order the N7 Collector’s Edition to get the extra bonuses. Since I preordered the game in March of 2011 I never heard of the Collector's Edition. Of course, you had to pay $80 for it. But the regular edition had nothing for preordering.
And as I said above, I never had a problem with game companies offering extra content for preordering the game so as to buy it new and buy it quickly before the prices start to have to be slashed. I'm just wondering if EA is going to keep offering no extra content in regular preorders, or are we suppose to preorder only special editions for $80?

Probably. Every EA game uses that $10 program or w/e at launch.

Basically. DA2 did it (although Sebastian was not THAT vital to the story) and ME3 did it (I don't have it but Javik, being a Prothean, seems pretty vital to the story to me and especially since you get him from Eden Prime where ME1 started).
I really hope it doesn't add an extremely vital optional story to the game because I would feel like we're getting important pieces left out for the sake of preorders.

I hate pre-order DLC and store exclusive DLC . I really hope DA3 doesn't have any of that, but since it's published by EA I'm sure it will.

Indeed, I don't mind extra companions/extra quests. Extra endings, now . . .
No.

I'd buy extra endings. Bought one for FA 3. But shouldn't have to.
on topic though, I don't have a problem with either. Enjoyed the stuff with DA:O But if I had't pre-ordered I wouldn't really have missed it.
