Should the next Dragon Age be a sequel or a parallel story?

We had Dragon Age: Origins.

Then, we had Dragon Age: Kirkwall (misnomered as Dragon Age ][).

DA:K took events from DA:O into small account.

In DA:K's conclusion, it seems that there are other heroes gathering. If it's just the Hero of Ferelden and the Champion of Kirkwall, that's not much in the manner of a gathering to start the final game in a series.

I know it's probably too late in the game (pun) to change things, but if it were up to you:
  • Would you prefer to play the final game in the next Dragon Age (likely if it's called Dragon Age III) that comes after the Kirkwall story?
  • Would you prefer to play the stories of other heroes elsewhere that parallel the story of the Champion of Kirkwall before playing a final game that ties them the conclusions of each together?
I (fairly obviously) prefer the latter. In that case, they don't need to consider the other games along the Kirkwall timeline since the Kirkwall story runs parallel and has not completed before the games begin (a perfect pitch for introducing new players with each game). They'll only need to worry about DA:O's conclusion, and Kirkwall has shown they only need to make a nod to DA:O.

The grand finale game can tally the conclusions of the stories that take place during the Kirkwall campaign and tailor the progression of it.

Dragon Age 3 is not the (planned) final game in the series. It isn't a trilogy. The next game will most likely take place after DA2 ends and deal with the aftermath of the mage/templar war.

I'd prefer DA2 to be set after the events of DA2, so I can see what's happening with this Mage/Templar rebellion thing... and I want to go to Orlais!

I have a feeling it'll follow DA2's example and have a parallel part and a sequel part

There was alot going on behind the scenes in DA2

Dragon Age is the story of Thedas, not any particular event takes precedence. That's why you don't hear much about Origins. Although if you want to get technical, DAII wouldn't have happened AT ALL if it weren't for Origins.

If the Blight had never happened, the Hawke Family would have never went to Kirkwall.

If Uldred hadn't started his coup and the Warden hadn't recruited Anders and Justice (its canonized,) the Gallows incident would never have happened.(Lot of Kirkwall's crackdowns were because Uldred tried to take over the Circle with a horde of demons after he failed to convince them to join Loghain against the darkspawn. And Anders wouldn't have been motivated by Justice to become a freedom fighter/terrorist.)

Dragon Age II is official, not misnomered.

The universe isn't Mass Effect where right at the start you're told "Better get ready because giant destroyers are coming to end your life forever"

In Origins you stopped the Blight. In 2 you gave the Mage/Templar-Chantry conflict a good kick in the pants and set it off.

In the next one? A parallel story with the Imperium-Qunari conflict could be very interesting. Two completely contrasting cultures who seem to always be pissing each other off if you start reading into the codexs/wiki. Neither culture is particularly upstanding either so it would make for a great anti-hero sort of atmosphere.

There isn't really too much going on in Antiva, Rivain or the Anderfels it would seem so I'm not sure what they would do there. If they were to continue to work on the Chantry story line that was alluded to in DA2 you could probably find the game taking place in Nevarra and Orlais then.
