Silver:
I pretty much play all the classes, but here are the races i choose within those.
Phoenix Adept
Turian Soldier (for the Marksmen) or BF3 Soldier
I don't use Engineers on silver
Vorcha Sentinel !!!! Love this on silver
QI (if i am in the mode to break out a shotgun)
Drellguard
Gold
Asari Adept
I rarely use Soldiers on Gold (unless i just want to level them up quickly to catch them up)
Salarian Engineer
Turian Sentinel
Salarian Infiltrator
I don't use Vanguards on Gold

- Human Female Soldier (130% AR build with Cerberus Harrier I/M-99 Saber III)
- Human Female Infiltrator (Widow X/Kyrsae X with pure Tac Cloak and AP Stickies)
- Geth Infiltrator (at least before the Hunter Mode nerf; Javelin III and pure TC/HM build with emphasis on Weapon/Geth Damage)
- Human Female Vanguard - (200% Nova build; no Melee)
- Phoenix Adept (Pure Lash and Smashl 200% with one Melee enhancement)
- Human Female Engineer (Custom 200% Overload/Incinerate Build for max Tech Burst DPS)
- Phoenix Vanguard (Typical BC and Smash 200% build with a Melee enhancement)
Sometimes, it's hard for me to decide what I want to play in a given game lol. I do mostly Gold games these days, and I love every one of these classes on them. I used to originally just play like, two classes, but overtime I started experimenting and trying some of my own homebrew builds (like my Engineer). Eventually, they all became my favorites in one way or another.

Do you feel there is enough of a spread of different classes to satisfy a variety of play styles?
Do you feel that any one particular strategy or play style outshines the others?
We try to keep in mind this is about team play with a well-rounded team, of course.
Cheers!

Drell adept
Asari Vanguard
Quarian male engineer
All infiltrators except the female quarian
Human soldier
Geth engineer
Vorcha sentinel
If I want to switch it up I'll usually use on of these:
Drellguard
Novaguard
Asari justicar
Krogan or Batarian soldier, melee specced
Asari adept
I only play gold. The rest of the classes I can't say I enjoy much. Favorite classes at the moment are probably asari vanguard and drell adept, I like the in your face playstyle, and the grenade spam is a fun bonus lol. Both male quarians are fun too for that reason.

Eh. 6 classes.. would love more abilities though.
4 different types of grenades, still grenades. 3 different sort of wrap around body armor. not much variation between the 3, to want to play the other class more.
Would love Slam

I feel there are a good number of class/race combos to suit a number of diffrent play-styles. But don't stop making more.
There are stats, builds and power sets that can make even gold a cake walk. I don't take note of each one I see as I play, but I don't mind them so long as they remember it is a team game.

There is a fair amount of variety for play styles alright. My only complains is that pretty much everyone has the same loadout eg. Carnifex, Widow and its variants, Saber etc.
As for the second point, it really depends on the player. I've seen people attempting to follow a certain play style only to fail miserably and jeopardise the match. On the other hand, I've seen players dominate the battlefield.
I'm not specifically referring to any class, I've seen amazing players in all of the classes, as well as terribad ones.

the variety is nice, but balance is to low to my options
guns and class and powers
and .. to be honest some ubgrades are clearly beter then the other (at least on gold )leaving not a huge place for choise ....
like chain and neural shock for the first 2 choise in overload
like radius for incinerate
like explosive blades for balastic blades
like domage increase for proximity mines
....
no one would take something other then those in a gold build
so yea, diversity is really good, but i would rather have alot more balance
a good example is the ubgrade 6 on overload where ... both are really viable
Do you feel that any one particular strategy or play style outshines the others?
well ... roaming seems the way to go for me
always on the run to not get surounded and clear spawn points whit AOE / grenades
and most classes whit no Dodge / roll / hop .. are greatly injured
turian krogan batarian should have something .. maby not as good .. but something ...
i would give turian krogan and batarian ... at least a HOP ( like salarian side jump ) but in the 4 direction
oh yeah .. and please give me the option to mute indivial players on ps3

For instance, if we have 2 Vanguards/Adepts, but only a single Engineer, then i'll go Engineer/Sentinel to help with Tech Bursts. If we have a good all-rounding group (Engineer/Sentinel/Adept etc.), then i'll go Infiltrator (often GPS Gethfiltrator) to help with objectives.
If, however, i'm given a free choice, i'm quite partial to the Gethgineer, Ex-Cerb Adept, Turian Sentinel, MQE, Batarian Soldier, and Gethfiltrator. My favourite class being Engineer.
I generally avoid playing Vanguard on anything other than Bronze though, with the sole exception of Kroguards.

1. Yes, but the Rebellion classes didn't help towards that much due to their similaroties with one another.Derek Hollan wrote...

2. Biotic Explosions are powerful, but constant Tech Bursts are better in my opinion.

Adept: Justicar and Cerberus
Sentinel: Hardly ever use but when I do, Batarian
Engineer: Geth and Male Quarian
Vanguard: Asari and Cerberus
Infiltrator : Salarian and sometimes Geth
Don't like Krogan anything, Yes I'm racist. Liked the vorcha at first but haven't touched either one since learning to use both Cerberus without going down every 10 seconds lol. Squishy ass, slow animating bastards that they are lol. But I love 'em both dearly, they came at a good time too as I was ready to put the game down for a while. I'm almost there again, we need new enemies already!

I think having every race in a certain class having the same ability (cloak and biotic-charge) forces certain play styles for those classes. Now, what else to give an infiltator? I don't know. But that's not my job

Adept: AA, or AJ. With my AA I use a pistol, and my AJ uses the Vindicator... if I even use it either weapon
Soldier: Vorcha.... Claymore only, and....BURN ALL THE THINGS!! Edit: Rarely I play a KS with a Claymore, or HFS with a Widow and Claymore. They just bore me fast.
Sentinel: Krogan, (or Human Female rarely).... HEADBUTT ALL THE THINGS!!!
Engineer: Human, but mainly Quarian with a Shotgun: LOVE to watch the cryo explode with a shot from my Eviscerator... can't wait to get my Wraith lvl'ed up to be light enough to use more. If there is already a QFE that joins, I play my human to strip defenses for the Cryo freeze, but if a male quarian joins, I won't switch to the human... I have a crush on Quarians! Male or female!
Infiltrator: Human with a Shotgun, Claymore, or Wraith. Quarian with a Black Widow.
Vanguard: Usually wither Human, or Asari, but I only play my VG with friends because all the ****ing and hype about them. But sometimes, I play the Kroguard if there are other Krogans in party and there is already one with the Sentinel so I can HEADBUTT ALL THE THINGS! (yes... yes... I LOVE all Krogan parties, they are just so FUN!!!)

Or, I just finished a Sentinel? Time for an Infiltrator. I also try to pick different races each time. But that doesn't always go as well as I'd like since when I get back around to the Adept, I invariably go with an AA each time.

only classes I really like are drell adept, vorcha soldier, ex-cerb adept, salarian engineer, geth engineer, kroguard, and I wish I had a quarian male infiltrator to add to the list but no luck so far.Derek Hollan wrote...

I'd like a sentinel with slam and energy drain, maybe then i could play that class at all.
I think that infiltrators and vanguards outshine everyone in a manner that needs fixed.

Within a class there is plenty of variation, compare HV, DV, and PV for example, or DA, AA, JA.
Different classes do afford different playstyles, but the weapon load out contributes to variation just as much (which is good).
I think in general biotics outshine tech abilities. I don't know if its because they are more visual or have a better audio que, but I need more practice with being a tech/cryo/fire burst guy. With cryo and fire burst I have difficulty setting up combos when playing with friends--it has simply been too hectic to coordinate it, as opposed to the biotic which is much more straightforward.

Adept: Human (rarely), Asari
Soldier: Batarian. I might try Human sometime.
Sentinel: Human and Turian
Engineer: Human, Geth, Quarians
Vanguard: Krogan Battlemaster
