So, lately I've had a new catchphrase people have noticed me using.

"In an effort to spread positivity..."

followed by whatever wonderful thing I've tried to do to get people to smile.

To be honest, I think the World needs more happiness. Seems like everyone's looking for negativity these days.

I'm one to talk, what with my life being wracked with negativity- but I'm trying to change that, for me and everyone else.

Figured this thread could get started where we talk about how to spread happiness, not just through the World, but on smaller scales, like this forum, for example.

I've noticed a lot of back and forth the last few days on here, just in the Off Topic section, where people haven't been very nice to each other.

Whats up with that?

Cliché as it may be, but "why can't we all just get along"?

Any ideas as to how to cheer the people of this forum up?

No way you ever can or will. So long as we have free will.

Every person has a personality, and some personalities don't mesh well. Some to the point of violence. Ideals, wants, needs. Differs. And some people just arn't able to be happy.

Take a Kids Birthday Party. Bring in a clown, at least a couple of kids will be scared. At the Party you have some kids won't like the cake. Some kids will pull the pepperoni off the Pizza. Some kids will want to play with the toy the birthday boy or girl got.

When you "grow up" clowns turn into porn and clubs or book sales and church, the pepperoni becomes laws the toys become oil and land.

One mans happiness is anothers sorrow. Always has been always will. And with the Drama and pecking order of this forum, well it might be "just the net" but the order of wants needs, likes and dislikes are well reflected. And then you have some people that want to just see it all burn.

Some people just want to be pissed off and miserable all the time.

You just can't help it.

Not saying we should be trying to get everyone happy at the same time, of course. That would be impossible and entirely impractical.

But everyone should be happy at some time, if it doesn't cause harm to anyone else.

As far as the forum goes, I wish more people were willing to agree to disagree and accept that other people have differing opinions before firing back with name calling and such things.

Makes it hard to go into those threads and discuss something when people are arguing and being nasty with each other.

Bickering and drama will never stop. People argue and reconcile, so nor you, nor I can do anything about it. It's just how it is. Besides, like bmwcrazy said, there are people who just always act like that. This place has lost its charm two years ago.

I think this place could get some of that charm back if Bioware's games were more positively received by the forumites already on here in combination with all of us actually trying to be happy cheery folks.

Not really, even back in the day we all fought and bickerd over the games. And romance Drama happend back then as well. Face it some time sooner or later this forum like every other will fall apart. Sure maybe you had more "good times" back then, but was it any less bad?

Back in the old days the forum had its negativity, sure. It just seemed like back then people were in a better mood.

I wish everyone could be in a good mood when posting here. Emotions are addictive.

Yep, drama has always been here. Sometimes it was less visible, sometimes more. It really depends on the people. If they see no better option than post SU's like "I feel miserable" or "life sucks" then I pity them. They often don't even bother to explain why are they feeling like that and when you try to cheer them up you end up with your own mood ruined. Negativity is contagious.

For me, 2009 was the best year here. But that's mainly because of the awesome people that sadly left in the following year. What a shame...

I remember when we were all switching from the old forums to this one.

It was glitchy as hell. I'd of joined the first day it was possible if the forum would've let me. Hahaha.

Better moods back then. Seems now that a lot of people are just looking for an argument.

I wish there was a way to turn this around.

You can always just ignore the bickering. I tried to help my friends who were depressed, but nothing good came out of it. Sometimes it's just better to let people solve their problems themselves. If they're fighting just let them tear each other. Eventually they'll calm down and things will be back to normal till another argument sparked is by someone else. It's a cycle that never comes to a halt.

I just stay out of threads that have bickering at this point, whether or not if I report something to a mod.

Sometimes I'll try to change the subject to something more on topic or of a brighter subject.

That works.

Threads without bickering? Small wonder you post so much less now lol.

As Para-Medic said, leave others to their own devices you may only make things much worse by forcing others, I learned this the hard way.

Yeah, this is what I've been having a tendency to do lately as well. Some threads however just aren't worth saving.

Sometimes, I think that depends on the audience. In the Skyrim thread, that works. In some others...not so much.

Props to you for trying. Keep fighting the good fight. Image IPB

Pft Off-topic, or rather the wretched hive of scum and villainy as I'm sure some mods and Admins call it, is the only place on this forum worth posting in lulz.

Hahaha, nah. I've just been less interested. I gave up on anything Mass Effect after the ME3 ending, DA3 stuff is slow and just not grabbing my attention(after DA2, ugh), so I stay in Off Topic, and here its a mixed bag of stuff I'm interested or not interested in.

Combine that with real life stuff and I've been posting A LOT less.

Same. I check on other sections sometimes, but this seems to be the only place I can consistently feel good in.
