Inspiring Positivity

It doesn't hurt to avoid being pessimistic all the time either though, but you didn't hear my say that.
Sometimes though, talking about the negative aspects can actually work out quite well. If people talk about sunshine and bunnies long enough, and particularly if they try with forced optimism, I just get depressed.

I feel like suddenly this thread got more tense, Ivandra.
And? Priestly's basically saying we can't voice our opinion. Forced happiness FTW!

^^ Sometimes I find myself believing that, sometimes I don't. But it is much easier to be "optimistic" in a good situation.

Be happy OR GET THE HELL OUT! Lol.
Ivandra, there is no need to try to rain on the optimist's parade. Just back off and let life do that for you.
And then listen to them as they try to construe negative events as positive. It can be quite an intellectual exercise. Or just comedic.

Is someone creates a positive topic to say thanks for whatever such thing and a ton of people come in and start talking about how much they don't like said thing, is it thread hijacking?
Cause that's what I was told when I got suspended.

No. That's just people voicing their opinion. That hijacking argument is pure bull, IMO. It's like finding an excuse to suspend people and make them shut up.

I think you are trying to hijack this thread into making it about thread hijacking.

Just to be clear, I wasn't being harsh at all. Of course you shouldn't just come in here and be mean, but it's also not fair to start a thread for conversation and then establish that any other opinions than your own are not tolerated.
Hopefully you can't get suspended for peaceful and respectful conversation.

How does one hijack their own thread? O.o that'd be more like "taking the scene in a new direction" or whatever.

Guys, let's not go off-topic. Let's all talk about flowers, rainbows and ponies instead to keep up the happiness.
But ponies don't make me happy, spare a couple Fluttershy scenes and one Applejack quote.

^ Exactly. People should be able to post conflicting opinions that are on topic. Either side should take a breather when it becomes argumentative though.Ivandra Ceruden wrote...

Plus, I always try to remember that people on this forum are from many different cultures with varying degrees of fluency in the English language. Sometimes things that appear as an attack are merely cultural differences in expression or an error of expression in English. We should always reflect back our understanding of the persons post to allow them to clarify if they truly meant what we understood them to say.

Eh not in particular. I've always been something of an anti-naturalist tree burner. (as opposed to tree hugger)
