With the exception of the Salarian's Decoy and Energy Drain, this class simply does not have anything going for it.  Engineers are supposed to be tech specialists, but Infiltrators have equal tech abilties AND much better combat abilties.  As a result, Engineer, generally speaking, is an obsolete class.  The Engineers need SOMETHING to make them the undisputed tech specialists in the game.  With the relatively weak tech powers they have, they effectively don't specialize in anything that a separate class doesn't have.

A perfect illustration of this is the Quarian Male Engineer vs. the Quarian Male Infiltrator.  These two characters are identical in two powers - tactical scan and arc grenade.  The difference is in the third power.  Infiltrator gets tac cloak, Engineer gets....Incinerate.

Please improve this class!  It is much needed!

Salarian engineer is outclassed by SI

and despite being used in your point QME is one of the two that isn't outclassed by there infilly partner in every way(the other being GE for healing turret) .

Fire explosions make the QME one of the best offensive classes in game.

QE,HE,SE<<<<QI,HI,SI

So you chose the lazy power DLC to make your point as to why an entire class is obsilete?

Human engineer is a tech master beyond compare, gethgineer can heal himself AND others.
Quarian engineer is the only one that is arguably not very good, and the devs are planning a buff for her next week.

This isn't a very good argument imo.. I use engineers all the times, especially the Human Male and Geth. They're perfectly fine. You just have to set them up well.

I like my QMI or the GE over the SE.

Funny, I do just as well with my Geth Engineer as with my Salarian Infiltrator.

They're all weak.  The Salarian is the only one that isn't completely outclassed by other characters in the game.

They're unplayable in comparison to other characters in the game.  Playing with one is making a deliberate decision to play with a relatively weak character.

Make up your mind. Are you talking about the male Quarian Engineer exclusively? Because you sound like you haven't tried any other Engineer ever at all.

Either that, or you just are terrible with them and need a monstruous weapon damage bonus to kill stuff.

No offense.

In order to make this argument successfully, you'll have to demonstrate that the Geth Turret is worthless, and that the Incinerate/Overload combo is weak.

Good luck.

A HE's combat drone can do 1000 damage a pop when built right, and attract enemies like a decoy. Take that and a Widow or powerful AR and go to town.

Quarian Male Engineer is obviously the best. Tech Bursts galore.
The Human Engineer is a really good support class and if played right a great slayer.
The Quarian Female has been one of my favorite classes since the demo, she's a beast.
The Geth is good, obviously. Not mostly because of his healing turret.
The Salarian is good all around, but mostly because of Energy Drain.

The Engineer class/characters are in general very good, in my opinion. Simply fix Incinerate's Frozen Combo-thing and the Quarian Female will be completely devastating. I like my Engineers, I like them a whole lot.

QE is being looked at for buffs, and that's good news.

SE is undisputed king of CC, since enemies actively seek out the decoy.

GE has healing, shield stripping and his wallhax, so I think he's doing quite well.

MQE is the self-techburst champion, and can deal as much damage as his infiltrator compatriot (arguable since it has to do AoE damage to compare).

HE is one of my old favorites, and the shielded rocket drone is a bit too weak on Gold, but a reliable tank on silver and capable of clearing spawns on Bronze (ok I'm probably exaggerating here), but the opposite spec of distracto-ball works really quite well with shock/detonate/explode evolutions. Yes it's squishy and dies in 2 shots from a Cannibal, but he's not shooting at you because he got shocked, and then exploded on (if you were quick with OL he also techburst when he killed the drone).

So, while I'm not against buffing engineers, I don't see them (FQE aside) in any real need of attention.

Edit: 'd by zhk
Though his view of FQE and mine differ slightly.

Quarian female needs work though. Is the cryo blast-incinerate combo broken or am I just an idiot?

The HE > HI. Overload and Incinerate are better than Cryo Blast and Sticky Grenades. The Combat Drone is great at CC. There are ways to be a good player without dominating the score board.

The HE is great for tech burts, although I dont point any points into the drone and think that needs a buff its still a good class.

Turrets/Drones really need a buff across the board except the GE's turret

My geth engineer brings other geth to their knees, and the MQE tech bursts them into space.
Theres a certain angle to playing them that makes them better than infiltrators at times.

Unplayable?

Sorry, but no.

I play (and enjoy it quite much too) the QFE about 80% of the time on bronze (and silver on the last weekend event.) I've never had any problem playing against any enemy. So it all comes down to your playstyle.

I will say though, I does need a bit of a power buff. Its damage dealing is not as good as the other classes.
