Other than the Salarian, Engineers are unplayable

not to mention it will be sad, i dont think the game would benefit from making every engineer play out like this.

instead of the awesome support machine they already are. Allthough QME is not far off ;D

You complained about my "trolling" in another thread, you reported me for that thread, yet you revive a thread I started that is two weeks old. Well done.
For the record, Engineers are playable. They're just too similar to their Infiltrator counterparts to justify using them in many cases (imo).

I actually think she is viable after the recent buffs. Heck after all the sabotage, and TC nerfs she is almost on par with her infilitrator counterpart.A Wild Snorlax wrote...

That is best picture I have seen all day. QME is a walking kill streak with area incinerate + arc grenades. The human engineer is great at both CC with the Drone and Overload, but also tech bursts. The QFE is an jiggly bum-bummed ice queen against reapers, and the Geth Engineer can be a healer, CC master, and a debuffer.

Especially as the thread is redundant now that the HE and QE have been so massively buffed.

With the exception of the Salarian's Decoy and Energy Drain, this class simply does not have anything going for it. Engineers are supposed to be tech specialists, but Infiltrators have equal tech abilties AND much better combat abilties. As a result, Engineer, generally speaking, is an obsolete class. The Engineers need SOMETHING to make them the undisputed tech specialists in the game. With the relatively weak tech powers they have, they effectively don't specialize in anything that a separate class doesn't have.
A perfect illustration of this is the Quarian Male Engineer vs. the Quarian Male Infiltrator. These two characters are identical in two powers - tactical scan and arc grenade. The difference is in the third power. Infiltrator gets tac cloak, Engineer gets....Incinerate.
Please improve this class! It is much needed!
QME is easily as good as QMI imo.
Arc Grenade followed by an Incinerate = Tech Bursts.
Add in TS for the Banshees, Primes, Atlas and you have a very powerful, well balanced character.

So you chose the lazy power DLC to make your point as to why an entire class is obsilete?
Human engineer is a tech master beyond compare, gethgineer can heal himself AND others.
Quarian engineer is the only one that is arguably not very good, and the devs are planning a buff for her next week.
They're all weak. The Salarian is the only one that isn't completely outclassed by other characters in the game.hijackerjack wrote...
This isn't a very good argument
imo.. I use engineers all the times, especially the Human Male and Geth.
They're perfectly fine. You just have to set them up well.
They're unplayable in comparison to other characters in the game. Playing with one is making a deliberate decision to play with a relatively weak character.
Uh HE are amazing. Sure the SE can CC with Decoy, but I don't think it's nearly as effective as shockball + overload CC. Entire groups being CC'ed and set up for tech bursts. It's awesome.

Sorry, I responded to the wrong person. I meant to say "exactamundo dude" to the person who said the thread redundant now.
But I 've also played more with the Engineer since then, and I have a newfound appreciation for some of their abilities, so I agree with you as well.

I'd have taken the QME over the QMI even before the TC nerfs. As long as you have grenades, the Quarian Males is awesome. I like putting the harrier on him spreading death from ammo box to ammo box.

All engineers are awesome except FQE. MQE is the tech version of drell adept but not as squishy. Throw disruptor rounds on and they can all self tech burst.

The Human engineer with Overload + Incinerate is also good, but pales in the shadow of the MQE. The geth engineer is quite simply amazing as well.

Weilding a Carnifex or hurricane with cryo ammo, it's a powerhouse of fire explosions and tech bursts.
Still, it depends on your preferences I suppose. IMHO, any of the Krogan classes are unplayable, but others seem to like them.
