Hi.
I'm new to the toolset and was wondering whether there is a way to browse the cutscenes from the single player module and preview them in the same way you do when  you create a brand-new .CUT scene?
Every time I open the single player module, the cutscene tab in the palette is blank. Am I missing something?

thanks

Do you have the latest version of the toolset? If so you should be able to see the cutscenes from the game. Make sure you are in the single player module. To edit them, you need to make a local copy then save it with a new name.

I just upgraded to 1.01, but in the single player module the list of cutscenes is empty.

I found one cutscene in the demo module.

Strange. I have 1.0.1 and can see all the cutscenes. Perhaps your install is still using the old database from 1.0.0?

During upgrade I specified to overwrite the database, but maybe that did not work.

Guess I have to uninstall the compete database system on my computer and then try to reinstall.

I uninstalled the whole toolset including database and reinstalled a new complete 1.01 version. Unfortuntaley that did not work. Getting 'unable to connect to database'.

I rolled back to 1.00 updated to 1.01 without installing MS SQL database again. It's working like before. Still no cutscenes visible. Looks like the content in the DB was is not updated this way. Is there any way to check the content of the database or maybe update that seperatly?

Maybe you can restore your database like it is described in the wiki ( http://social.biowar...kup_and_restore ). Use the database that was provided with the 1.02 version of the toolset.

102 of DAO and 101 of toolset. I did a complete uninstall of 100 of toolset first and then installed the new version. Can see all the cutscenses.

good show. It all works now, complete with all listed cutscenes available.

However, the in-game preview still won't work. Comes up with error "Failed to start the game for in-game cutscene preview. Make sure that your game build is present and up to date"

Any ideas on this? I'm using the most recent DAO binary and the latest toolkit build.

Villainsoft, did you ever get this resolved?  I'm having the exact same issue.

Thanks.

I'm also getting the "in-game preview" error. Anyone gotten this resolved and feel like sharing? Please?

I don't think the in-game preview works at all. You can still preview cutscenes from the toolset, by setting a viewport to active camera and pressing the play button in the toolbar. I'm guessing you already knew that, but better safe than sorry. :)

Yeah - I can preview in the active camera viewport, but it would be really good to be able to do a "full render" (minus the camera tracks, dummy cameras, etc) preview, as I wanted to work heavily on lighting effects, DOF, etc.

I've found a "workaround" by running those batch scripts for exporting cutscenes to video, but still - it's a pretty bad hack and I'm not 100% convinced it works either.

*Sigh* Let's hope someone is kind enough (maybe developers?) to shed some further light on this.

to be honest, i dont really know what i am doing in the toolset at all. I would like to make my own cut scenes. As i read through these postings, and look through my editor, im finding that i only have DEMO documents, no working cut scenes. I just downloaded the toolset after reinstalling my game. Any help would be nice, cheers

Switch to the single player module through File -> Manage Modules.

The demo module is the default one.

alright, i spent some time in it and got mostly everything worked out. However, i have hit another snag. I have finished some work and would like to use the in-game preview, but when selected i get an error message " failed to start the game for in-game cutscene preview, make sure that your game build is present and up to date." my understanding of this is that my game version isn't the 1.03 , but in my configuration it says i am running 1.03..

* the same problem as everyone else on this page*

I didn't even know there was an 'in-game preview' function, it probably doesn't work as others have stated.

Just make a trigger that starts your cutscene in a random area and check out the cutscene that way.
