Please don't lock any hairstyles to the default. Notice how many PC players use Marian or Garrett's hair, on their modded characters? That's because it was cool, and while the default faces were nice, players feel more attached to characters they've gotten to tweak. So please make it easier to get all options.

Absolutely agree with this.

Also I really hope the devs make good on M-Law's "most realistic beards" promise. Posted Image

Does anyone else feel like there are a few hairstyles that no one will ever use/are just a waste of resources? We talk about how dwarves and elves are a waste but I'm fairly certain that fewer than 1% of players ever actually used Emile de Launcet's weird tonsure thing.

In fact, he's the only NPC I can honestly remember rocking it.

I don't know why but your username makes me laugh everytime I see it. :P

Aw. Somehow that makes me super happy. Posted Image I'm so glad you said something!!
Could it be because of this?

I hear some guy screaming it every time I see my own username, so that makes me laugh. Posted Image

Also, in regard to other people's comments about the default hair, let us change the default character. I liked most of what they did with default Hawke, but I wanted to remove the beard to make him look younger and make a change in skin tone to make him paler.

Yeah, and kind of related - I appreciate all the amazing DA art and I know a ton of work goes into creating our character models, but can the team please not make our favorite characters look totally different in the animated trailer than they do in the game?

Leliana was a big upgrade in the trailer. Morrigan was a downgrade. Trailer mHawke looked tons better than game Hawke, and Isabela looked like a completely different person. You're professional artists, right? Replicate your own amazing work!

I really enjoyed the character creator in Dragon Dogma's demo. I haven't played the actual game yet, but it was pretty cool in the demo. It not only included the ability to customize facial features but also stature as well. So, I agree with you harkness72.

If there's one thing Dragon's Dogma did right it was the character creator. It is indeed fantastic.

Having different body types (including height and muscle tone, not just weight) just makes the whole game seem more believable because those countless different bodies will also be used for NPCs. Perhaps the current Dragon Age engine makes the varied body types difficult to create. However, if they're going to switch engines, one or two default bodies is simply unacceptable for a modern RPG.

In an ideal world, I'd like to see more skin tone related options including freckles, moles and scars. I'd also love to choose my character's posture and her "habitual movements". I mean things like the default walk and when female Hawke circles her toe on the sand when she's bored. She oozes femininity and, while I like it for some Hawkes, it would be great if we could choose a body language from few options in the CC. This would greatly enhance the distinct personality of the PC.

I don't like Dragon's Dogma character editor tbh. Everything is on presets. Body type is nice but beyond that, you have to choose presets for everything. I couldn't even move scars where I wanted. They didn't have enough presets. If I had a scar over my left eye, sometimes they wouldn't even have a preset to slide it over to my left eye...didn't make any sense.

Body types is probably a customization option Bioware won't likely go. I know for a fact it forces the modelers to do twice as much work because they have to make sure armor fits every body type.

It works in Dragon's Dogma because it has very little story at all, so they can focus on other things like character customization.

I can't help think that one of the artists for the trailer was inspired for the look of Morrigan by the Dragon Age promotion www.youtube.com/watch title Dragon Age: Origins Medieval Beauties.  Look closely at the one dressed not as a warrior but as a mage that says her name is Sam.

I don't see any warriors or mages. Just girls getting filmed in lingerie because they're desperate to make a quick buck!

Yes.  I've been studying the photo and trying to imagine the desperation in their eyes.....I can see it now and will study their desperation further.

Ugh those ads. Makes me cringe so freaking hard, haha. I'm glad EA seems to have stopped doing that kind of thing, what with them not having booth babes at E3 and all.

The first time I saw that advertised on youtube I thought it was a joke and actually thought about reporting it. Can't believe it was for real! The advertising for DA:O on the whole wasn't my cup of tea. It's why I didn't play the game till it'd been out for a year and a half - I saw the first few ads for it and figured it was just "fantasy for bros."

Really happy that I was wrong. Posted Image

Anyway, if we could be allowed to see our PC recite a few practice lines of dialogue in the CC (like they could in DA:O when we chose our voices) it'd really help me out a lot with the design. Partly because, like Lolalei and others have said, you never really know how derpy your character can look until you see them talking/expressing, and partly because I always want my character to look like they fit the voice they're given. Default fHawke was gorgeous but never fit the sound of the VA to me.

I actually was satisfied with the DA2 character creator, although I am sure it could always be tweaked a little bit more. What I would like to see at character creation, is a chance to import/upload a custom portrait, such as we could with NwN or BG, and then attempt to make our DA character resemble that as close as we wished.

Yeah I felt the same way. Only reason I ended up getting is cause, hey, it says BioWare on the box. How could it possibly be bad? ;)

Trust well placed, indeed =)

From what I know it's not really fair to compare the EVE CC to any other CC out there. Simply because the polygon count on those heads are extremely high, probably higher than entire characters in DA. When you computer has only a head and nothing else to work with, it's easy to make it really pretty. But as soon as you enter the game, the server saves your character as a two dimensional, static picture, which it shows to you later on. Rendering that monster of a 3D model during real game play would be very daunting.
