Geth SMG vs Atlas

I use it on silver with a GI (spec'd for geth weapon damage) and a Smg amp gear bonus III. Literally I can tear down an atlas on silver in seconds. I hit it with a prox mine spec'd to amp any damage dealt afterwards, and just blast it with the smg.
What unlikely weapons do you use to kill big ol'enemies?

On Gold the armor damage penalty leaves the weapon practically useless against armor, least of all the big targets that have tons of it.

I suspect that nearly any weapon would give similar performance with those parameters.

I like the Geth SMG, but if you're using it on armor you're doing it wrong.
Even on Silver.

Not true, you just have to be prepared to us AP ammo on it, once you do that, it's fantastic.
OP, see the second link in my Sig for my HSold build dedicated to rocking the GPSMG. I have, on Gold, individually taken out every boss unit. And it usually does not take very long. Well, except for Banshees. I find that's the one unit my HSold really struggles with by himself.
And yeah, I love the GPSMG. It and the Hurricane are probably my favorite two weapons in the game. But I do feel there are not enough effective fully auto weapons.

Well there's your problem.

Nothing's wrong with it.

The Geth SMG is useless on armor even with TWO full amps.
Gimmick weapon suited best for shield/health enemies. On Bronze.

Silver isn't even an issue. The issue is there are literally TENS of weapons better suited to this particular task.
It's much the same as falcon threads.
Yes, yes the falcon can stun things, and five hours later you finally finished a wave after all your compatriots have fallen asleep waiting for you to accomplish something.

Not sure about the SMG on an atlas in silver, but using the Geth Assault Rifle against a Brute in bronze did no discernible damage at all. Emptied all of my ammo without even taking off a single bar of armor. Not a thermal clip. All of the ammo.
in bronze, the AP mod/AP ammo is all you need to do damage to an armored enemy with something like the GPSMG or GPR. all the assault rifles i tool up with AP and extended barrels. incendiary ammo also will burn down armored enemies too. hope that helps.

I...errr....what? The Falcon has consistently been shown to be one of the most useful weapons on Gold in the hands of a decent player. Sure, it's not suited to a Solo run or boss killing, but as far as being one of the best support weapons in the game, there is no comparison.

it's not suited to ANYTHING but sucking up all your amps to kinda kill some stuff after they decide to suicide themselves from boredom.

It is absolutely pitiful against big targets on Gold. I managed to get the Atlas in the reactor room so it couldn't turn around and basically unloaded all my clips, then went to the ammo crate and damn near did it again.
I recall right after it was released someone claimed he would kill Atlases in seconds on Gold, which I knew to be untrue from doing it myself. Although Atlas killing did used to be faster if you could get penetration and damage them twice.
In any event, most unlikely weapon is the Predator. Space Glock 17 + Adrenaline Rush = same day killing of Brute or Banshe

I was told the shredder mod doesn't worth with the Geth Plasma Shotgun, so I assumed the piercing mod didn't work with the Geth Pulse Rifle, either.
There's no piercing mod for SMGs.
There are armor piercing ammo consumables, but I don't think having them be required makes for good weapon balance. But I know you were talking about strategy, and I thank you. Do you know for certain that the AP mod works on the GPR?
