I play on PC but what game would you buy a new machine for? I really like DragonAge.

DA3 will probably be available for PS3, so getting it for the 360 would be a waste of money.
What's the difference between the two versions? As far as I know DAO and DA2 were more or less on the same level in terms of graphics, and it doesn't change nothing in terms of gameplay.

Well ME3 was on two disks and the 360 version involved a lot of disk swapping. Not sure if that will apply to DA3 but it seems likely if it's a bigger game.

I hope so.
About the disk swapping, I played on Xbox and I didn't change the disk that much, though ME2 was done better. Anyway, even if the disk swapping will be the same of ME3, it isn't a problem that great to say that buying the Xbox version (instead of the PS3) is a "waste of money".

ME2 is pretty much linear so it's just in two parts. In ME3 it depends how many times you shuttle between the citadel so it's variable. Games with world maps tend to be much worse.

It depends also on when the next generation of consoles comes out... I'm not sure how long there normally is between the announcement of the next generation of consoles and release, but I imagine late 2013 - early 2014 is the kind of time frame we're looking at? In which case Bioware might want DA3 to be one of the flagship titles for the new console. The release of another generation of consoles within the next two years would go some way to justifying how much I spent on my new PC at least

So Bioware dont really have to worry about console generation. If new xbox or ps comes out, a texture upgrade would be enough to keep them occupied till the next next generation of consoles =P

My big fear, since they canceled the DA2 DLC and expansion, is that they will simply cancel the entire franchise...
DA:O was Bioware's best selling game before ME3 came out. DA2 sold well and had a short dev cycle. Now I don't know what the budget was between both titles but it's entirely possible DA2 actually netted Bioware more profit because it was on a shorter dev cycle. DA:O was in development for quite some time.
2 year dev cycle, smaller budget and 2 million sold>>>>>>>>>>>>>>5 year dev cycle and 5 million sold from a business perspective.
The way they've been talking about DA lately...I seriously doubt they have any intentions to cancel this franchise anytime soon.
Remember, DA2's hype is due to DAO. In EA's words, they pushed the game out to 'capitalize the success of DAO'.
DA2 has such sales numbers isn't because it's great by itself. You can't say it's more successful; had DAO been a sequal to a great game, it will sell even better: at least a lot more will buy DAO at launch instead of buying after hearing it's great.
On the other hand, DA2 almost 'fooled' many who pre-ordered. Had it been a stand alone game or had the people who pre-ordered hear the game from their friends, I highly doubt it will have such sales number.
Now, for DA3, we will have to see how it goes. DA2's so called business success has a negative impact on the IP's reputation, there's nothing to hype DA3 on.

I wouldn't buy a next gen xbox for any game the first year or so it's out. Too expensive and then there's the problem that you get if it happens to not be able to play games meant for the 360. (I have no idea if that's true). My boyfriend may argue with me about it as he loves to have everything new- but until they drop in price (I've heard some redic price points for the 720) and have a better library, no way.
I'll play DA3 on PC and become one of those snobby pc elitests.

DA3 should be halfway through the development process as compare to Origins, if indeed they are on the same pace as that game took to make. So it should be out September of 2013.
(Unless the rumors are true and the developement time for DA3 was pushed back in favor of SWotOR.)

You mean it'll be more than the $350 that the last generation of console games cost? If it's going to cost in the $600-$800 range might be worth it to just go ahead and upgrade to a new/used computer. Then I can finally play Napolean:Total War.

That's the whole thing, Mr. Gaider can come on here all he wants and scold for us believing internet rumors, but nobody's actually denied it being true.

That's the basic price range rumor that I've heard on the web. Of course, it's all a rumor until it's officially announced, but with all the hardware upgrades it's supposed to get (kinect included, blu-ray, windows, etc) also all rumored, I would think that a $600ish price range is likely for first year buyers. We just bought our second 360 for wayy less than half that. My laptop cost less than that. Plus I'm not happy that they aren't letting you play used games, we go to gamestop a lot to try out games and I'm not ashamed to admit that selling our games has helped us more than once buy beer.

Not letting you play used games on an Xbox 360? How can they do that?
For the next gen I was planning on upgrading to the PS4 considering my PS3 is only the 40GB drive that's a pain when downloading dlc and other games trying to decide which to delet to make room.

Not sure how they are going to do it. It was mentioned somehow tying the games to your profile maybe? I think I heard that about all of the future gen consoles, not just the xbox 720.

I think it's a very bold move though with a fair amount of risk.
