Would you rather be buried, turned to ashes, thrown into the ocean, fed to the wolves?

Cremation with ashes scattered into the sea. The same was done for my mom and dad, and I entertain cheery thoughts of joining them and going out as fodder for the fishes. :P

Burial is a little depressing in my experience as I've had relatives go down the way of the unmarked or abandoned grave (gone and forever forgotten indeed), or even have had their rest disturbed by way of exhumation and relocation due to land development needs (in particular, Singapore where terrain is scarce and found wanting). Not to mention all the nasty fates that can befall human remains or monuments to their existence - anyone remember the graveyard scandal where employees were caught digging up folks to resell plots for profit? I've also seen vandalized tombs before, and it's not a pretty sight. While admittedly a lot of my sentiment on this matter may be simple fearmongering, I'm still a believer in not leaving behind any trouble for other people to take care of once I'm gone. Let me just fade away into the past, go back to being a nice little part of nature (even if it has to be as a dust speck in the proverbial belly of the whale), and I know I'll be happy as can be. :)

I've always wanted to die in a spectacular and memorable fashion.

Failing that, ashes.

Body donated to medical research. Or just turned to ashes.

Ashes for me as well, after anything useful is taken from my body. My lungs are garbage, but I am an organ donor, and would hope someone could benefit from my death.

I would also prefer some sort of celebration rather than any sort of grim, joyless funeral.

My mother told me today that she wants her body donated to science. Apparently, after they're finished fiddling with her, I get a small urn of ashes.

I am quite surprised (happily surprised) that so many here are organ donors! A vast majority of individuals still refuse to do it... which saddens me. It's the potential to save another person's life with something you have absolutely no use for anymore. I mean... come on now... for me, it's an easy no-brainer decision.

As for myself, get them organs out and then turn me to ashes! Then take the ashes and surprise me with a location. :D And it better be good or my ashes will come back to haunt you. >8[

Taxidermy. Sitting in a comfy chair, and at my memorial service people can have their picture taken with me. Then some family member can take me home and set me up in front of the TV. I'll be a good conversation piece. I just hope they remember to dust or vacuum me every once in a while...

I want my body cremated. Then I want my ashes thrown in the face of someone I despised in life as a final insult to them.

In all honesty though, this is something I haven't decided on yet. I would have to discuss it with my friends and family. On one hand, I have a few issues with burial. Some of which Amberyl mentioned above. On the other, I have friends, family, and acquaintances that prefer burial because it gives them a place to visit their loved ones that feels more personal than an urn. My preference is cremation, but ultimately I would take burial if I felt it would ease the grief of those I left behind.

I plan to rot in an apartment for a month until somebody finds me. They can do whatever they want with me. I can't become an organ donor so that's an easy decision.

I think disappearing and becoming a force ghost would be kinda cool, though not likely to happen.

I want to become a ghost and haunt buildings telling the "psychics" im a helpless little girl trying to find my dolly and Im all lost and alone and I cant find the light...and then when they feel all sympathetic and weepy Im totally gonna crab walk down the stairs at them and make em wet their pants.

...hmm as for my body..wrapped in gauze with no embalming and buried with a tree on top please.

Donate my body to science fiction.

Actually, inasmuch as I'll be dead and won't have left anyone behind, I really don't care what they do with my body.

One might suggest the former would in many cases lead to the latter.

Collecting them to put in a vase might be somewhat difficult though.

Buried. Not only does it conform with my faith, but there is a chance I might be necromancied.

So long as I have an autopsy done, I don't really care. I personally think autopsy's should be mandatory upon death, but it crosses too many religions for it to be feasible. Also organ donation. I would probably say burial because it leaves options for future generations to make use of the corpse for research or even historical purposed centuries down the line.

Now that would be awesome.

I'm probably going to stick to burial, as an atheist I don't beleive in an afterlife so I want to "dream" as long as I can in death which would require my brain to be intact.
