Basically, one of the folks at IGN hasn't seen these forums and largely thinks that people hate EA for making money.

i don't see why i can't dislike the ending AND hate EA for being money grubbing d-bags?

its not as if those two things are mutually exclusive or anything.

We forgot?!? It's not because we calmed down and are less vocal about it that we "forgot"!!

Most of us are waiting for Bioware's next move related to the Single Player portion of the game... Most of us hope and some of us still have faith in Bioware to deliver!

The chiatstrom was enormous! Maybe way over exaggerated... But we made our point and Bioware listened. I'm convinced that they are doing whatever they can, with passion, to make this game as perfect as they can be and I know I'm not the only one that thinks that way!

So we wait... And we'll see...

I believe that EA's first goal should be to provide "value" for its shareholders, it's amazing how often that gets confused with "make as much money as fast as possible."  There's a difference between building an empire and pillaging one.

Sadly, no. because if you were then IGN would have gone under a long time ago. They are very clearly a morally corupt group, thriving on page hits and hype. They should not have your support. and anyone who would like games to progress as a medium and art should leave them in the dust,

I like the editors at IGN. Some of them have opinions that I don't agree with (Colin Moriarty) but they mostly are smart reasonable people. People act like IGN is the devil. They just post news and opinion pieces. Just because Colin Campbell(The guy who wrote the article we are talking about) thinks that's why we hate EA doesn't mean the whole of IGN does.

Sadly, this is not always the case. Just look at how lauded Planescape: Torment is amongst the RPG community, yet it bombed in terms of sales numbers. The problem is always that quality is subjective and Bioware RPGs aren't the blockbusters in sales that games like Skyrim, Pokemon, or CoD tend to be. The end result is that despite our enjoyment, there is no guarantee that a company is making maximum profits from our sales.

But yes. I still don't like the Endings. The EC with either make people forgive the ending or hate it even more. Most likely the later. Us Gamers can never be pleased.

ok, reread the article again...

there's one spot where he says "Good business? Maybe. Good PR? Probably not."

im sorry, but in the free market, those two things are one and the same.

unfortunately, as the writer also said, there's a bit of a special case going here.  its almost like an old-school monopoly (one that is unavoidable due to the sanctity of intellectual property), in that game franchises are unavailable anywhere else.

and a monopoly kinda negates many of the principles that a free market depends on in order to remain balanced for both the consumer and the seller.

for me, the anger with EA comes from a certain feeling of powerlessness, (especially when my expectations as a gamer do not sync up with EA's business practices) and im not enough of a stoic to be able to brush this one off because of my emotional investment in gaming as a whole.

The most stupid thing EA has came out with in the past month.

"We took a risk making syndicate a FPS" (Paraphrasing). No you played safe making a strategy game, a generic FPS. Shows how much they think of their customers "they can't play a game where you have to think about stuff, let's try to copy Deus ex but dumb it down"(Paraphrasing).

Coming 2013 Command and Conquer Sing Along featuring Kayne West as General I wear stupid glasses .:innocent:

Isn't IGN apparently owned by Murdoch?

That's enough reason for the place to be laid to waste.

Yeah the list of reasons for detractors provided is a more comprehensive list made in seconds. Whereas some so-called journalist neglects to mention any of the real criticisms against EA. We know they are a business, we know they make money. It's the methods and exploitation of loyal fans that people hate.

On a personal note I do loathe anyone coming out to defend these mulit-billion pound corporations as if they need to be protected. Oh poor defenseless multi-millionaire EA exec's. When will they ever catch a break. They have their own well paid PR staff let them defend themselves.

I don't mind EA, they've never done anything to insult me and the only problem I had with something they released was the Euro 2012 DLC for FIFA 12 and when I said I felt I was mis-sold the DLC, they have me my money back so I don't have a problem with them.

You do have to remember, they are a business, it is their primary function to make money so that they can stay in business.

In all honesty, every games company is there to make money and if they make great games then I'll give them my money because I have fun with the games but if not then I won't give them money, simple.

Not ME3 story or campaign related.

End of line.
