Games with a better ending than ME3 (This generation)

I personally enjoyed Halo 3's ending (Legendary). I think it was genuinely bittersweet, what with the memorial wall for Chief. Sure, Chief going into stasis may be sequel bait for Halo 4 (Which actually doesn't look that bad, TBH), but it works as a tool for telling the story. It closed that chapter of the Halo saga (namely, the Human v. Covenant war and the Flood) and paved the way for the next trilogy.
I also liked Gears of War 3's ending. It too is bittersweet. Marcus has lost more close friends to the Locust than almost anyone else alive at this point. Even though Adam Fenix had very little screen time, I felt terrible when he succumbed to his super weapon. The little mementos that come with the Gears3 CE help flesh out his character. I do think that maybe Marcus' monologue while killing Myrrah was a bit... forced, and could have been done better, but the effect was good enough as is. Gears has proven to be an emotionally intriguing story from start to finish, inlcuding the expanded universe, the Hollow comic and the novels expecially.
What else can you guys think of?

Deus Ex Human Revolution at least had a fourth option.

Edit: And of course, almost every game created has a better ending<_<

Like timbo said: Every game ever made had a better ending than Mass Effect 3. This is really the worst and most ridiculous ending in video game history.

Mass Efftect 3 has only one, frustrating and insulting ending which is broken on many levels.

Okay, genius video game critic, maybe tell us your favorite endings instead of insulting us.

I didn't insult anyone, I made a joke. I didn't even put anyone down. I think reading before posting helps a bit in that department.

I'll be honest, the emotional investment vs payoff obviously has a lot to do with.
Bioware fumbled the ball on the touch line. All they had to do was bring it home ... doing what they had been doing for the previous 100 hours of gameplay, but they got all artistic and screwed up what should have been the best game franchise this older gamer has ever played.

Edit; but, if I am to name one I'm going with Portal 1. The ending is just a song with brilliant lyrics. It's oh so simple and I loved it whereas the ME3 ending tries to be all fancy and falls flat on it's face. Breaking both face and sidewalk in the process.

Why I specifically chose such an obscure horror game? Because its ending is kinda similar to ME3. Similarly, an alien mastermind who's behind the plot contacts the protagonist and reveals why humans are bad and that this alien species is superior to humans and that those aliens aren't to blame for killing humans. You even go through some kind of sick parcour that's supposed to teach you the errors of humanity.
The essential difference is that the protagonist defies the mastermind at the end and does the exact opposite of what it told him to do. He does what is human, not what is logical.

Okay, I made an oopsie. I kinda forgot you created the thread, and thought you were just some jerk that came in and said "Wow, really? Those are the endings you find the best? /leave"
Big derp on my part, sorry.

Many, many games do. But...my favourite game ending is DA:O. Going through the mirror with Morrigan was the best. It's ironic that my favourite game ending was made by the same company that made my LEAST favourite game ending...
I agree with this fully.
Walking through the Eluvian with Morrigan was probably my favorite ending to any game this generation. Tis sad to see the Warden's story come to a close (for now, I hope the ritual comes back in DA3), but at least I can rest easy knowing it ended satisfactorily.
