Infamous 2. The RFI is what the Crucible SHOULD have been. And both of the endings have emotional impact all the way through. I'm still in love with the hero ending

I have been playing games since the DOS days, and I can honestly say every other game I have ever played has a better ending than ME3. ME1 and especially ME2 are up there with my best endings in video games.
I'll be honest, the emotional investment vs payoff obviously has a lot to do with.
Bioware fumbled the ball on the touch line. All they had to do was bring it home ... doing what they had been doing for the previous 100 hours of gameplay, but they got all artistic and screwed up what should have been the best game franchise this older gamer has ever played.
BAHAHA do I see a Raiders joke in there? The Super Bowl? Who did they lose to doing that?
Actually no ... I am from South Africa, and not from the USA, but using Friday Nights Lights references I tried to localise it for you.
When you said "Raiders" I was thinking Harrison Ford :innocent:

Dragon Age 2
This made me LOL!
I was going to say "Games with a worse ending" would be an easier list to manage. Then I thought, how many items do you need on a page before it can be called a list?
I'm having a hard time thinking of a single game with a worse ending then ME3.
Maybe it's just too early in the morning and my brain don't wanna work. Where's my coffee!?

Thinking back on my recent gaming history, my favourite ending has to be Red Dead Redemption.
Some other games that I've completed recently:
Alan Wake (Gets a lot of hate, but I loved the way the story flowed in that game)
Dead Space (Loved it)
Dead Space 2 (Loved it)
Dead Island (Mmmmeeeh)
Diablo 3 (Horribly predictable ending, but still well crafted)
Walking Dead Episode 1 (Loved it, eagerly awaiting Ep2)
I'm still playing Skyim, but I've finished the main questline so I feel I can include it in this discussion; it was .. decent. Not amazing, but still pretty good.

Fallout: New Vegas had an awesome ending.
Unless you side with the Legion, in which case you fail at life. Granted, that's the player's fault if they're that stupid, not the game's....

I kinda like that. I haven't completed FN:V, but I do like the idea that the player is free to make some really stupid choices and fail despite technically beating the game.

Also this. TW2 gave you an option to have a final boss fight or not. Plus you can even drink vodka with him!Skelter192 wrote...

All games but if I had to pick one, The Witcher 2, as it did what ME3 should have did.
Witcher 2 was amazing, especially when you consider that not just the end, but the entire middle part of the game is completely different depending on your choices in act 1. But back to the ending, I loved that I could just walk away from the final fight, and have it make total sense in character. I don't recall ever playing a game like that.
So awesome leaving Letho alive.
Why could we not have a swig of TIM's booze when we talked with him or took a drag of his smoke? WHY BIOWARE
Nope, antagonist needs to die. Otherwise the ending is not sophisticated or deep enough...
Also loved that part you could just walk away. Give a big FU to the northern kingdoms and walk away since it's not your fight anyway. Wish more devs would do something original for a change.

Portal 2 - Awesome from the moment you defeat the final boss until the credits stop rolling. Funny as hell too.
Batman: Arkham City - Pretty impressive ending, especially in light of the fact the first game ended with an anti-climatic final boss fight. The second certainly did not.
Red Dead Redemption - Fantastic finale and an equally satisfying epilogue.
Grand Theft Auto IV - Bleak and ultimately very grim, yet this works because this was the tone of the story from the very outset.
Dragon Age: Origins - It pretty much had everything the ME3 ending didn't with more variety based on choices and afterwards an epilogue showing long term consequences.
Mass Effect 1 & Mass Effect 2 - Most damning of all however is the fact previous two Mass Effect games had much more satisfying conclusions. They didn't even meet the standards they set for their own series.

Better than ME3's ending. I forgot. Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead II. All of the short stories had better endings, and L4DII had Ellis for comic relief. Yes, DA2 had a better ending than ME3. Sorry.
