So is no one else laughing at the fact that the OP is such a hypocrite? He wants mature players as he goes off on a very immature rant about others. A mature player wouldn't come in here flaming others in his search for players his own age...

John - while i see your point....  I have to disagree - to an extent.  Sure - if you're in the group he's directing his comments at, i could see how it's offensive.  HOWEVER - He's directing it at people who get what he's talking about.  It's one thing to have feelings like that - it's another to vocalize them to other people who are just having a good time.   Like i said in the description for the group this thread prompted me to create -- looking for people 25+ -- or people where we would never know the difference if you neve told us your date of birth.

And you know what?  When i complain about douchey teenagers --- i was a douchey teenager at that age too.  I don't hold it against them....  It's important - it's when you're seperating yourself from parents and other authority figurse and becoming an adult -- part of solidifying that is feeling/talking/acting like you know better than your elders - it's how adolescents assert to themselves that they are empowered adults - and it's totally normal.   I think we're all just of the opinion that we don't want it negatively impacting OUR enjoyment of what little free time we still get.

Christ, and it can be handled much better. I'm just laughing at the hypocrisy though. I don't really care. If you think the OP is mature, then you aren't a mature person.

70 here - still having fun

This is inspiring to me, and you have my admiration sir/madam. :wizard:

38 here, and I'm usually the oldest person in whatever match I play in.

This is great I didn't think anyone older than me was on the forums, however, I game on PC.  BTW - I don't think I have ever ran into annoying young players.  Perhaps there should be an association of retired gamers.

The average gamer is between 35-37 years old.

The average "purchaser" (paying themselves or providing the cash) of video games is 41.

The kids playing today can't afford gaming by themselves. I remember being able to go into a store and drop 40-50 bucks on the latest titles. Those days are GONE. The cost of broadband, service memberships, MMO subscribes and DLC.......................somebody else is paying the bills for these younger players.

I'm 40, a PC player, and a working professional. I play mostly bronzes and silvers. I used to be in the Navy, so I do cuss on occasion. Its not directed at people, but at situations.

Score is for e-peen. We play to have fun. Hit me up if you want to give us a shot.

I'm in my thirties and just wanted to say that age isn't really a factor for me.

As for being mature? I kinda hope not.. Young at heart, as old as you feel and all that.

I've earned it and helpt people earned it but I would like to help out some more people.

Also, check out our group below. We tend to be more mature players as a group (not all above 30 but good people). And we don't only play Bronze (mostly silver for me).

My common reply to those that ask my age while in game is “I watched Star Wars: A New Hope. In 70mm the day it was released to the theaters, to be clear Han shot first.”

The most common reply’s are:

1) “What’s 70mm?”
2) “What? There are more movies than just the three released in the least few years?”
3) “Your crazy in your old age, Han returned fire!”

I recall Pong being “State Of The Art” and the “Space Invaders” Bug that increased their speed when you freed up the memory by reducing their numbers. It was gaming in its infancy, it was good times.

I acquire 41 in two months, I use the PS3 platform, and my PS3 handle is the same as on this forum.

Wow, did not expect this kind of response. Nice to know.

I am not implying at al that every match has obnoxious players. It is just better to have a few friends that I can count on to be "nice" and respect each other.

30s

I'd like to draw a distinction between "mature" and "not fun any more." Mature means you're not going to launch into some bigoted tirade over someone failing to cap an objective after you bleed out. And just because you grow up, and become "mature," doesn't mean you have to loose your imagination and sense of joy at romping through the galaxy blasting aliens with space magic.

As I see it, you have to get older, but you don't have to get old.
