I'm 33.... and damn, I don't know if my region is weird, or if I've just been exceptionally lucky, but I regularly run into older, mature people, and almost never into noisy, insulting, screeching kids.

Well, I joined your group ^^

I'm guessing you're on PC? - I'm on xbox myself and mostly you run into silence or kids. Kids I have no problem with, kids shouting and screaming I do !!

However, you might be interested in this...

Looks interesting.  Sadly being in England we only get that stuff from north of the border ;) I wonder if they export...?

At the moment, they're still working on getting to other states.  I'll drop by for a progress update (and some samples) next time I head downtown.  Not to mention stop at the meadery next door....;)

34 here, and I do mostly Silver with some Gold on PC.  Origin ID is AnubisTPF.  You'll typically only see me on for a couple of rounds at a time, though.

It's a tough call between bourbon and scotch for me.  I'm a Kentucky boy of Scottish decent.

There's a group of us from 2old2play.com that play nightly on XBox. We usually have around 4-8 people playing, and most are East or Central US timezones. It's a great group of folks, very casual, and usually running either Bronze or Silver matches. Many of us have young kids so we all understand when someone has to go AFK, even if it means that person's absence means we fail the map. So it goes!

I don't run into this a lot but it is enough to be annoying I get the youger players who are all about running, gunning, swearing, and denigrating the reputation of everyone's mother because they outscored you.  The other type are the obviously under 12 player who is chatting about all kinds of other topics and telling me how to play better.

I just would like to play with people who respect the game and their team mates.

Age is not the only factor but I have found a number of players on other games in my age category and it is much more enjoyable to have a team like that.

Oh, by the way, my age category is over 40.  I suppose over 30 is okay though as I am sure many people started this game(ME1) in High School or College and are now probably near 30.

My XBOX GT is CHIRONATOR.  Leave a post here or send me a Friend Request with a note referencing this thread.

EDIT = I was accused alter in this thread of ranting in an immature way here.  I apologize if you may se this in that way.

I see from all the replies that there are a lot of mature players n this game.  I hope to make a few friends from some friend requests.

There are a lot of ps3 and PC players  replying here as well.

As a 23 year old on PC, I can tell you that's less of a problem than you'd think. I've never run across something like that. Maybe there's less annoying people on PC, or just less mic's. Consider changing your platform perhaps?

I don't know what my future holds but I hope I'll be able to enjoy gaming in the years to come.

50 here. I remember my wife telling me when we were young newlyweds "I hope you're not still playing games when you're 50!" We shared a laugh about this on my birthday. Xbox Dinkum1

I am 44, but on the PS3, so can't play with the OP.

But I can give a tip how the deal with the problem: When I ran into annoying kids with mics, I simply turn on my headset but do not put it on (leave it on the shelf, safe distance from me), that way I do not hear them on the main speakers.

Sure it is not ideal as it cuts off the ability to use the mic for actual game-play tactical communication, but with the type of team mates you describe there is usually no such thing happening anyway...

WOW,I just turned 17 but never mind that.......I just wanted to say how surprising it is to see that some people that are old enough to be my grandparents, let alone parents play this game xD
It's a great revelation

Forty.....Six here (sorry, had to think for a second)

Just wish my gamer skills had increased apace with my age--but they seem to have gone the way of my memory instead.

I don't think I've run across any other older gamers online (at least none that were using a mic).

I've been pretty fortunate to not have run across any (vocally) obnoxious types in this game. I think Mass Effect tends to draw a more mature crowd (regardless of age).

We are the same age, nice. Don't feel bad, after I turned 40 I started to get selective amnesia about my age.:P

You think all those people who grew up playing games in the 80's and 90's just stopped playing?  Hardly....;)
