WOW,I just turned 17 but never mind that.......I just wanted to say how surprising it is to see that some people that are old enough to be my grandparents, let alone parents play this game xD
It's a great revelation
You think all those people who grew up playing games in the 80's and 90's just stopped playing? Hardly....
No - we became modders and programmers and designers and whatever else... so now if we don't like a (single player) game we can just tweak it
...and yeah, I've been playing "space" games since Elite on the BBC Model B and Acorn Electron.
My earliest Space/Alien games would have been Xevious in the arcade (aliens), and Star Raiders on the Atari

.
I was old enough to be in on the tail end of the Arcarde golden age, and lucky enough to have an uncle who owned an arcade. So I got used to being able to drop by there after school everyday and play for free for an hour or so. Got hooked then and have never looked back.
I actually feel bad for kids whose parents/grandparents don't play games with them. My daughter is a teenager and video games have been a powerful place for us to stay connected even when we've gone through some difficult times. They are a kind of neutral place for us to meet even if we're mad at eachother. And she's a hardcore gamer/nerd (go nerd parents, craft them in your image!). I look forward to continuing to play games with her even after she moves away to college, thanks the ubiquity of always connected game consoles, tablets, phones and PCs.
