It's inspiring.

I'm 44 and my wife and I are celebrating our 25th anniversary this weekend (hard to wrap my mind around).

It's a great revelation

Gaming isn't something you can give up easily like heroin or cigarettes.

Hope they one day (far in the future) find me dead with my controller in hand!

Now jokes aside, does feeling old constitutes for eligibility too?

As in "the youth of today, no respect"-feeling old, or "you don't know Timothy Dalton once played James Bond?"-feeling old?

I may only be 24 and certainly have the spirits as befit to my biological age, but more often than not I feel like some grandpa in his nineties when I see other people of my age, it's almost obscure.

Just want to make a friendly reminder that age isn't everything. I've seen plenty of condescending posts around the web from older people calling posters "son", saying that they don't know anything just because they haven't been around for long enough. But there's plenty of people in their early 20's or late teens who are mellow and respectful by nature, not just through age.

Certainly, age does make a difference. Hopefully the immature semi delinquent teens grow with age and become more mature and respectful over time as they learn that their attitude won't get them very far in life. Just wanted to clarify that being older doesn't always make you more respectful. I've met plenty of people of all ages and have seen despicable behaviour throughout all age groups. Sometimes it's worse in the older ones because they never lose their attitude from their younger days and become more entrenched in them.

But I digress! While age isn't everything, I totally get that people can connect and find people of like minds (and age) to play with, and the demographic range here is pretty cool ^_^

I am 37. Video Games are probably my number 1 hobby. It is my favorite way I kill time. A low maintenance girlfriend and no kids gives me a lot of free time.

I really have not had any issues with any gamers in ME3. This is a pretty good community. I can't say the same for other competitive shooters.

I'm pretty snarky, but there's usually no malice intended.

I have played ME3 MP with my son, and enjoyed that. we just yell out tactical info down the hallway, lol.

21 here, and apparently part of the young group.

Ditto. I saw this thread and I was like "Hey maybe I'll be able to find people who don't just talk about high school" and then all of a sudden I realise my 20 years is incredibly young.

You think all those people who grew up playing games in the 80's and 90's just stopped playing?  Hardly....;)

No - we became modders and programmers and designers and whatever else... so now if we don't like a (single player) game we can just tweak it ;)

...and yeah, I've been playing "space" games since Elite on the BBC Model B and Acorn Electron.

I really don't post much but threads like this always garner my interest.

We all have preconceived mental images of the people we play with and are sometimes very much off base. Have you ever pictured your favorite radio personality only to find out they are nothing like you pictured in your mind (especially back in the days when media providers such as Google and Facebook did not exist)?

I'm a male PC player who still lives with his Mom (I see so many inflammatory posts on the BSN when it comes to this arrangement).

I suppose I could leave it at that but the reason I do this is because I'll be 54 this year and I take care of my 93 year old Mother full time (I've promised to myself to make however more years she has left the best that they can be; she is not very mobile and has health issues but we make the best of it).

I've been a gamer for many years that goes back to my first Atari ST computer and the Colecovision was my first console.

I love playing games that capture my imagination and even ones that are just mindless fun.

The key word is "fun". I hope to feel this way for the next 40 years or so (even though the hands and eyes don't cooperate like they did 30 years ago).

I digress though. Have fun no matter what age you are, just don't let it be an obsession as life is far too short.

Joseph

I'm 29 married with kids, so it sucks when I play at night and everyone has a mic, and I can't say anything because the baby is sleeping next to me... Image IPB my wife would kill me if I wake him up saying something like: "phantom behind us!" Image IPB

So yeah I also thought I was old but after this post well it might not be the case...

For the records, I'm on Xbox too.

Congratulations!

On-topic, I'm a 35 year old on the 360.  My GT matches my username here.  I'm slowing down a bit on ME3, but I'm still playing a couple of times a week.

35 here and new to multiplayer with Mass Effect 3. I think that there are irritating players in all age groups, but it is reasonable to want to play with people your own age. We can relate to each other beyond just the game itself (job, relationships, life in general). It is unfortunate that XBL does not have a way to set your gaming preferences to only play with folks of a certain age. I do not think hat minors (less than 18) should be playing with adults anyway.

I found a bunch of good folks to play with through another website www.2old2play.com. It is a site geared to gamers 25 and older. We have a clan list that we use to find each other for games. Hit it up if you are still looking for folks to play with.

My earliest Space/Alien games would have been Xevious in the arcade (aliens), and Star Raiders on the Atari :D.

I was old enough to be in on the tail end of the Arcarde golden age, and lucky enough to have an uncle who owned an arcade.  So I got used to being able to drop by there after school everyday and play for free for an hour or so.  Got hooked then and have never looked back.

I actually feel bad for kids whose parents/grandparents don't play games with them.  My daughter is a teenager and video games have been a powerful place for us to stay connected even when we've gone through some difficult times.  They are a kind of neutral place for us to meet even if we're mad at eachother.  And she's a hardcore gamer/nerd (go nerd parents, craft them in your image!).  I look forward to continuing to play games with her even after she moves away to college, thanks the ubiquity of always connected game consoles, tablets, phones and PCs.

I will be turning 26 later this year and I play on Xbox, my girlfriend and I always joke that we're getting old. Teamwork is very important to me, I often wish I could play in more games with players who would communicate, often times I'll find a match with no mics. Surprisingly I have run into very few "whiny kids", however that might also be due to the times at which I tend to play.

Also, who says you have to be old to be mature? As my father would often say, "getting old isn't a choose, but being mature is." Hehe
