Problem is either way Jowan is either dead or tranquil if he was handed over to the circle and its unclear what happens to Cullen post Kirkwall

Unlcear is not a problem. Dead or tranquil is harder to work around.

Yeah Jowan's fate is too variable, plus I would imagine the Templars have split into several groups either stil supporting the Divine or breaking away to rebel with whoever is in charge of that... hell, some might even take the mages side lol. Plus you've got the small problem of the class system, would a Templar allow a mage to side with them, even if the Mage was willing during a Mage/Templar rebellion? Not forgetting that there are probably different groups of mages too, including blood mages.

But anyway, I like the idea of only getting a certain companion dependant on who's side you pick... although that's gonna make my choice a difficult one since I'm more inclined to take the mages side, yet I'd love Cullen as a companion/LI and have been waiting for him to be in the party for 2 games now lol. However, The Witcher 2 did something similar so I don't know if the DA team would be inclined to do something so similar... But you never know!

Jowan Could have used blood magic and escape, or cause he help saved the boy they just lock him up to serve his time. Also if he dies they could always pull A Anders where he joins with a demon to back to come back to life ,or right when he about to be tranquil he merges with the demon kills the Templar and escapes.

I'd prefer Morrigan for Mages and Leliana for Templars, but that's more of a personal choice than anything that actually makes sense within lore.

I killed Jowan myself, I sentenced him to die.

The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword
So I did, and made sure he was dead.

I doubt Morrigan will be involved in the war (I don't even know if Morrigan would care about the war) and Leliana is probably opposed to the templars.

Can Feynriel die in DAII? I can't remember because I generally helped the guy out. He could take the place of Jowan in this scenario if he's living.
Although getting to un-tranquil a familiar mage NPC could be fun. If only we hadn't put the murder knife through Karl. Posted Image

You can make him tranquil, dunno if you can actually kill him though. I also know that Cullen say's something about being worried for Feynriel and that he was lying in a coma or something like that.

We'll probably not pick sides at all, I think. Considering the ending of DA2. The seekers are looking for the people most capable of ENDING the conflict, not obliterating the other side, I also think (aswell as hope) that Morrigan and her plans in some way is entangled with the overall conflict that's coming.

I would much rather have Feynriel over Jowan.  I feel like Jowan's story is over, but Feynriel's is just beginning. ;)
Obviously I want Cullen though. Posted Image

Jowan's story is pretty much done. While I think he could make for an interesting companion, I'm not sure they can bring him back without it feeling forced.

Instead of Jowan, I think it would be far more interesting to bring Lily back. She got a raw deal at the end of the mage origin and it would be interesting to see how time in a mage prison changed her.

Feynriel would also be interesting and, with the supposed cure for tranquility, his return is possible with either outcome.

I am not sure why so many want to recycle these bit characters. They have their strong points, however, not everyone is a fan of them, and Bioware using them in a new game as companions, would instantly alienate just as many people who are nostalgic about seeing them again. Time for some new faces for companions, especially since the Protagonist is likely to be new. Old companions, if they are part of the new story, should be NPC's that will talk and interact with the party, but not go out on adventurers, or be part of the hero's group.

It would be nice to see many surviving companions, and other NPC's show up, and talk to your character, and perhaps talk about the Warden (or Hawke), and tell you a tales about their adventurers with them. That would be similar to what happened in NwN Hordes of the Underdark. You started out the game with a chance to adventure with companions from the first NwN, and they would tell you some of the things that the Hero of Neverwinter did, and what happened to him (her) after leaving the city. It gave some closure for your old character, though I hope by now, Bioware could improve on that.

I hope Morrigan is in this one. as far as old chars goes it makes more sense if they're cameos, like Alister, Nathaniel, and Zevran. Other characters I would like to see would be Wade and Harren, though that's unlikely, and it's possible that Bodahn Feddic and Sandal will be in the game.

Jowan was about as interesting as the dust I really need to clean from my pc's fan. He had a nice storyline and all but he was still boring as sheet. I blame the voice. Also his face. I'm pretty sure Cullen will be in though since he has a pretty devoted following. xp

No, I've already had one hypocritical Templar in my party, I don't need another. By Cullen's own philosophy, he shouldn't be Knight Captain, since he went through much the same kinds of things, presumeably, that Keran(?) did. As for Jowan, I listened to him snivel enough about his plight in the first game, and that was immediately followed up by Anders doing the same thing, so no thanks.

SPOILER

I certainly wouldn't want him as a companion anyway, he seems to be a whiney kid... I think he'd be too much like Anders :pinched:
