All
of these arguments about who's a noob and who isn't are irrelevant to
whether the game is better with or without the Krysae. [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/grin.png[/smilie]
It's
hilarious, because yesterday he attempted to define the term "ad
hominem" and got it completely wrong. And I'm not the definition police
by any means and wouldn't care normally, but he's STILL trying to
pretend like he's the only one who knows what it means, while everyone
ELSE is wrong.
Anyway, regarding the Krysae, I really don't want
to spoil peoples' fun. I do think that many Krysae infiltrators are
oblivious to how their play can ruin the gaming experience of their
teammates though.
Does it really mess people up that bad...?
I've played with (360) maybe a dozen matches with Infiltrators using it and their scores have been mediocre. On silver or bronze there really isn't a point to it. Seriously destroys the fun. How do you feel about someone using that combo on Gold? Is it messing the game up for people?
From what people have said, it doesn't seem to be as big an issue on Gold. I play mostly Silver these days, and occassional Bronze, and a Gold game here and there but not much, so those are the levels shaping my perspective.
I personally think that rare and UR weapons should be toned down a little on the lower levels. Maybe not on Silver, but definitely on Bronze.
I played a few matches with it on Gold with my GI last night and I was far, far ahead of everyone else. I'm a decent-but-not-great player. I've also been pretty hamstrung when the krysae infiltrator was someone else. I don't mind if my game disrupts other players when i have my valliant or a jav... they need to suck it up and get better. But I really do feel like I'm disrupting other people's games with my Krysae. there's always at least one, and often two, people who leave the lobby every time after I use my krysae to clean up, I'm sure it's because it wasn't very fun to play with me.

So your game is his game too - this can be avoided through careful private lobbying, which is PITA for some. Luckily, it is not up to him, or up to you to decide, but up to Bioware. Bioware can not do it or do it, based, between many other things, on opinions like his. So he has full right to voice his opinion, even if it is about YOUR guns, and you have the same right to voice your opinion. But all sorts of "stop posting" posts are completely worthless - you're trying to forbid someone doing something well within his rights.Steelgrave wrote...
Your entire post is just your personal opinions. It's fine for you to have an opinion as long as it doesn't mess with MY game. But unfortunately your opinion means messing with MY game & that's not cool.
If you think a blue Quarian looks better than a red one that's fine. But when you start talking about taking my guns away & altering my game then we have a problem.

Can you try to understand for a second that some people feel that's exactly what introducing the Krysae did - take away from their game? It goes both ways, you know. I'm not trying to RUIN your game. Was the game awful and unplayable before the Krysae existed?

Did I leave something out? Was I supposed to throw a tantrum so you'd relate and understand what I was saying? You're whining about something that has zero impact on your game. Scores are combined for the whole team, so individual scores are meaningless in the grand scheme of things. The only thing being damaged by this gun and its users is your fragile ego because apparently people are killing more pixels than you and it hurts you deeply. I'd say this is more of a personal problem than anything relating to Mass Effect 3.CmnDwnWrkn wrote...

Too passive-aggressive to be worthy of consideration. Trying writing what you really feel.

The other day I was ASKED to use it for a particular team to execute a particular strategy. So I went SI with a Krysae and camped the high ground vs Cerberus. When cloaked I one shotted everything without a shield, two shotted everything with a shield, including Phantoms. Normally... I would say this is a great thing, but it was the way in which I was able to do it.
Gone was trying to mailslot a Guardian... all I have to do is shoot ANYWHERE to the left or right of him, and it detonates past his shield for an easy 1HK.
Gone was playing the waiting game with the Nemesis, or chasing them around corners... now I just shoot the floor next to the corner for an easy 2HK.
Gone was playing duck and dodge with Phantoms at close quarters or trying to wait for them to land out of their little flip for the perfect headshot, I just aimed at their feet for an easy 2-3HK.
Atlases... HA. I laugh. Nothing more than a giant moving fencepost for me to explode on and kill mooks surrounding it, while I kill it.
It was all so easy, boring, talentless, disgustingly OP and downright sad. It's a freakin' semi-auto, air burst noob tube with an ACOG scope. It's the XM-25 from MW3.
I'm with the OP... delete it. If not... at the very least... make it an assault rifle. Take away the +40% sniper bonus from tac cloak by simply doing this.. it really fixes everything.

In my experience it wouldn't make any difference if they removed it or not. I play on Xbox, and I rarely ever see people using the Krysae, especially after the nerf. The people who did, almost never topped the leaderboards (although I know it's definitely possible too with it pre-nerf). If I were to join a lobby full of krysae infiltrators I would press B and spend all of 30 seconds finding a new game. Problem solved.
Who do you play with? I'm on XBox and there are at least two people every game. (Granted, I'm occasionally one of them....)

I think a big part of the problem is that they made it a Rare weapon, which made it too accessible given its power. It would be like if they made the Black Widow or the Valiant just a Rare weapon earlier.
Right now, I have a Hurricane III, and can't even imagine how ridiculous it would be at X. Which is why I think making a weapon like that just Rare would be a big mistake.

I hear you. I have the mindset that people either play Gold for the challenge OR the credits. I actively tone down my use of the Krysae to target particulary dangerous targets or cover the team when everyone goes aggro on an Atlas. Not to say that the Krysae is some God-weapon that ensures victory, but it gives one hell of an edge. I guess people who want a challenge will move on, those who want credits will stay.

Xm-25 has the highest learning curve in the game. No one uses it because its hard to use and impractical.

FYI, everyone wants a sense of progress and improvement. Adding something that has a new trick, like the krysae, is not in and of itself bad. Trouble is that players do not feel they are working together or on the same side...some get jealous. Instead of nerfing or removing what someone is jealous of, it would be better to make maps and waves make people feel they are glad they have teammates. Right now it just seems a lot of people treat the game as 4 single players sharing a map.

No they can't.
Well said. Gold seems to foster more teamwork (probably out of necessity), but I've noticed sometimes I'll get waves of '****ty player days' near challenges.

I believe everybody is entitled to their opinion, but man, this is the kind of stuff that's going to just give everybody else on this forum an immediate, hated defense against people asking for Balance; and I mean, moreso than there already is.
Not saying that's your intention, I just don't want the backlash.
I don't want the Krysae absolutely pulled from the game. It can be a fun, and useful gun- just like the Falcon ( which, yes, was taken down from it's God's position, but is still a very useful gun if not a bit harder to use than the Krysae, which many people still find plentiful use for in Gold ).
I just don't believe that the tradeoff the gun has right now for damage in comparison to it's AoE radius, it's proximity detonation, and it's stagger effect, is balanced. I believe there can be a better tradeoff.
But I do not agree with this thread.
