Being compeltely serious now, the main reason we can disprove the consensus theory with a different method than one used to disprove ITis the presence of legion in the consensus. Shepard's journey through the consensus is very much a shared one, whereas the grounding for IT is that when shepard comes to after the harbinger beam, we have no company in the same way to ground us in reality. Sure, anderson and TIM are there, but not to start with, so they didn;t enter the hallucination with us and so could be generated in the mind. Legion entered the consensus with us, and as such kept us grounded in the real world.. Feel free to debunk this stuff if you disagree

Mate, dont waste your time explaining anything to this troll.

Pure 100% speculation proves nothing. there is no justification for this theory and the burden of proof lies on YOU! You can't turn around and say disprove me, that's not how logic works.

Haha did you just shot your own foot?

The whole point is that if you get the "how do you know if you're not still in the Geth Consensus?" conversation in game, then it's an entirely plausible scenario.

The same thing applies to being knocked out by Harbinger with a massive laser. How do you know you've woken up? Except, I'd argue, what happens between this conversation and Harbinger knocking you out, makes far more sense than what happens after. So it seems very unlikely that we have in fact woken up at the end, whereas with the Geth Construct, it's more like a 50-50 chance.

IT theorists have at least provided circumstancial evidence to back up their speculations. You have provided absolutely none.

There's no point in even replying to a thread which is based on making events up.

A nice counter-argument that can be used against "IT"ers absolutely the same way. Thanks :)

One question. The Consensus mission is optional and palyers who dont do it get just about the same things for the rest of the game as anyone else.

So i guess the consensus is capable of predicting the future down to gaalxies deepest secrets and greatest events since the same thing happen inside and outside the consensus.

Or to put this in another way, consensus theory, check mate.

No problem, we can rename the thread into something like "Was the Ending a Dream after the beacon hit Shepard in Mass Effect 1". The meaning of the thread will not suffer, but I suppose the name will be to long. So I prefer to keep the current one.

In short: Nice try, but you missed :)

Actually there is a lot of truth in your idea. And it ADDS to IT :)
I even think that Geth consensus level was made specially for us to see that we can enter AI with our mind. It's like another hint about the mental battle which might be happening in the end :)

But can't actually exit, becouse some particular robots don't have any idea about UI's usability... Someone please help Shepard to find the "Exit" button :)

...Yes, everything after Consensus mission didn't really happen.

I'll counter your argument as soon as you offer one. Right now you have a suggestion without any backing. List your evidence that supports the idea, then we can debate whether the evidence is valid or not.
