Disc 2 just doesn't work!

I'll try to make this as short and sweet as possible:

Game worked fine with the exception of known glitches (ie stuff during the campaign with missions and the face import issue). My multiplayer was perfect until recently as well. Soooo after my multiplayer stopped being functional (wouldn't connect) then my campaign wasn't accessible either. Within the last 36 hrs I decided to give something different a try- so I installed my ME3 disc to my HDD on my XBOX hoping that this will help overall (decreased wear and tear on discs, making loads faster for gameplay etc). This worked perfectly since last night, I was THRILLED to have a smooth functioning game again. I started a new campaign with my imported character. Now- it's just not doing anything but freezing my XBOX up at the start of the Grissom Academy mission. My XBOX gets stuck on the Squad Selection screen, background music playing, cannot even see squad members. I can select squad members because I can see their names- a faded "Confirm Squad Selection" pop up appears and that's the end of the line for my ME3. WTH :crying:   :pinched:

I just WANT TO PLAY MY PREORDERED COLLECTORS EDITION GAME.
That's all! Ah
sorry. I've never ever ever experienced the amount of glitching issues as I have with this game, period. On any other Bioware game and none of the other PC or console games I have EVER played in my life as a gamer.
'Tis entirely frustrating.

Did you examine disc 2 for any scratches?

Thanks for responding Ghost:

My disc has barely discernible wear marks in a circular shape (which tells me that this may have occurred due to the disc spinning). I am testing this and trying and trying this again and again in various fashion, and it just freezes. I've tried to reload to prior the Grissom mission, and then restart, no dice and XBOX freeze. I tried another N7 mission instead of a priority mission and same deal because it required Disc 2.
Now that I've done numerous searches online- it appears I MIGHT have that Grissom Academy bug. Or heh, it could just be that the Disc 2 is defective.
I called Amazon where I preordered my C. E. because I want to have it replaced..they punted me to EA.
Now I'm reading the warranty email EA sent me. I feel I will have an uphill battle having this replaced .
I love this game even though I absolutely detest the ending- I still LOVE this game and this series. I want to play it- not just get a refund. Otherwise I never would have purchased a pre order C. E.!

I just want a functional game.

Does the circular wear mark go around the the middle of the whole disc?

I doubt it's disc wear that's causing it, especially if it's installed to the Xbox. I've got one game that's installed to the hard drive and it's so beat up it's no longer circular in the middle and it reads just fine.

Try starting a new game and see if that works. Though it really sucks if you have to lose all your progress and start over.

I don't think it's the disc wear either..here's a pic I took early this morning:

I think I know what the issue is now. The disc appears to have a circle that goes around the whole disc(or partially). This usually occurs when the disc is in the Xbox tray and the Xbox is either tilted, falls over, etc. while the disc is in use. I've had this happen to one of my copies of ME2 and when that happened I believe I was unable to access Ilium and all the quests onward(which made me have to re buy ME2 again). Did by any chance you moved your Xbox or anything? Also Do you have your Xbox set up vertically or horizontally? =]

:crying: :crying: :crying:

I have my XBOX set up horizontally. IIRC I do believe it did fall (usually it is stored quite safely on a shelf on my entertainment center) when I was trying to configure a new gaming headset and had it pulled out and resting on the top counter of my entertainment center..one of my children plodded along and tripped over wire and yanked it to the floor.

My ME3 disc was no doubt in there as it is the only game holding my interest currently.

If what you say is true I'll just go out and buy a new game..Gamestop has them for sale right now. This is my next question:
Can I just utilize a new game disc 2 w/out any issue with my multiplayer information/data? Or will using a brand new disc muck all of my online EA passes and junk?

Thank you for all of your help Ghost and Lesbian Wood Elf! :wizard:

You can utilize any new or used game disc 2 of ME3 and everything will work fine. ;)

I think I have the same problem... I made a thread about me not being able to start a new game.

I just checked my disc thoroughly and it has a faint circle(almost as profound as yours) going just about half-way around the the outer edge of the disc. I also discovered that I can't join a multiplayer game without it freezing during loading screen(the actual game not my xbox as I can dashboard still)

Yet my disc 2 seems to work fine & it has no visible scratches or anything.

sigh... I guess I found my answer.

Well I do have the same problem. But I had a solution. Used Scratch-Out:

Liquid I had picked up from Best Buy. Applied it to the disc with a clean soft cloth for about a minute. Then wiped it clean with another soft cloth. Put it back in the Xbox. Disc 2 now works fine. Had used it on one of my ME2 discs when it was giving me problems. The tube retails at Best Buy for about $6. I had gotten a 10 pk of packets for about the same price from there as well. So that is a cheap alternative to buying a used version of the game.

Hope this helps.

I purchased another copy of ME3. Gamestop had the regular edition for sale for $29.99. I have a working game finally!!! Good thing I bought the CE right? /sarcasm lol.
