How required is it for Gold Play?

I run Silver without it but I'm getting tired of having to put down so many games for a single PSP. Silver is tolerable though I kinda feel like a glass cannon at times.

Is the benefit on squisher classes so minimal that it's not worth it and it should only be bothered with on tankier classes?

I always take at least 3 ranks in fitness, but it's not absolutely essential.

But I will say that fitness is the difference between getting owned by a trooper, and actually staying alive long enough to contribute. If you feel like a glass cannon on Silver, then you'll probably need fitness for Gold.

It depends on how well you can evade fire.

If you plan on staying in cover the whole game feel free. But if you plan on running around guns/powers blazing, you'll get very well aquinted with the floor.

I like not using it at all when Im an asari adept because I am long range and usually dodge alot though I like using it with my female quarian infiltrator because I like to support the team in heavy fire, Iso I guess It just depends how you play. Maybe try out gold a couple of times before you use the points and see what you would like more so :)

Regardless of the difficulty I'm playing, I always use fitness with maxed health and shields. It's a lot easier to have fun and do well if my shields are buffed, whether I'm doing a gold run for creds, or just soloing a bronze for fun. However to answer your question I would highly reccomend useing it. It can never hurt to have a boost.

I usually take at least 3 ranks on my infiltrators. Everything else usually gets 4 points in shields, 6 on my Drell. The new gear makes it less necessary.

When in doubt, take it.

Some classes require it more than others, depending on playstyle. For example, my Kroguard (the uber tank) needs it much more than my Adepts.

I figured I could prolly get away without it on my Infil and Adepts because like you said, their playstyle supports it. Though all have a near useless ability that I could dump in favor of Fitness. But with some classes like my Human Sentinel, I think stepping away from either Tech Armor, Warp or Throw would be a bad idea.

Lots of classes can do 0 in fitness with a stronghold package.

If you've got mad skills, or are playing a class with some other way to protect yourself from damage, and are doing significant damage output to compensate, then you can leave it at zero. Basically full out offensive glass cannon (geth infiltrator for example).

I personally always put at least 3 ranks in fitness - if this then I compensate with shield gear and consumable mods.

Some characters I max it - ie drell for the speed.

Some I leave it at rank 4 - some infiltrators/adepts, where maxing powers are more important.

Edit: I don't think I ever choose rank 5 - I feel on any character those points can be better spent elsewhere.
