I searched the forum before posting this,,,my apologies in advance if I have managed to ask something that's already been asked.

I deleted my saves for Awakenings, which was for an imported character, in order to start again.  Now when I attempt to start the game, it gives me this Random Jaden-Shmoe Character, who's forced to talk to Debug Joe, or whatever his name is, to get into the story.  I can no longer import characters from Origins into Awakenings!  It's like it's stuck in debug mode.

Since I don't buy downloaded game fragments, I know nothing about Awakening. This is a weekend, the message forum season is over until October, and no one else had anything to suggest. You may need to try a different forum, perhaps a game play strategy oriented one.

Are you playing via Steam?  Valve (owners of Steam) just moved the 1.05 patch for Ultimate Edition owners this week. When patches are applied via Steam, it can cause something like what you're describing, if you have the game in English, but your local (i.e., computer's) language is something else.  See: http://social.biowar...index/1955298/1

Let us know if that helps at all!

I'm having this problem too. English is both my local and game's setting. I'm playing on steam with the ultimate edition which I just got. Did you fix your problem and if so can you suggest anything for me?

Unfortunately I didn't get the game via Steam; I purchased the digital copy from Amazon, if that's significant.  I did try the suggestions given in the other post, but to no avail.  It might be easier for me to just reinstall DAA, if I can figure out which module it is.  I'd rather not have to reinstall the whole show, so to speak.

That icon looks familiar.  What movie is that from?

It's the Merlin character from the King Arthur movie with all of the brightly chromed armor, instead of anything more realistic.

I had a same problem. I just uninstalled the Awakening, and re-installed it. Then it worked!
