I am firmly, 100% convinced that IT will  not be confirmed or denied by EC, and people will keep believing what they want to believe.

I will only provide the fact that Ray Musika's statement a few months ago clearly hinted towards the endings to be taken at face value, and he clearly didn't "fake" his surprise at the fanbase's negative reaction. Remember the "artistic integrity" meme?

I got no such hint from his letter, although I can see where you did.  What I drew from the dev statements was that this indeed was what they had intended all along - and in fact, most from bioware have been very careful not to invalidate interpretations of the ending, be they literal or metaphorical.

They did intend us to speculate over the endings - they didn't expet people to out right hate it.

I don't go to the HtL forums at all.  What sorts of numbers does that poll have?  When was it last posted, to allow players updated opinions?  (Honest questions.  It's hard to tell the validity of a poll with a simple percentage.  Numbers don't tell the whole story, but help fill it in a little bit, at least.)

It'd be more like how Religious Zealots reacted to Earth not being the Center of the Solar System.  Just like how Religous Zealots act towards the Theory of Evolution.  With anger, rage, and actions that go against their commandments.  Wait, that's how it is now.  Nevermind.

Having read some "leaks" regarding Shepard's "incredible but possible" survival ON the Citadel, I believe that this would also heavily rely on "artistic integrity" to be shaped into the current endings. The problem with some versions of IT is that it would render this inaccurate or impossible, alienating part of the fanbase that wished for a "happier" or plain "better" ending than what we apparently got. If Shepard can survive on the Citadel without IT been anywhere in the portrait, than that is the easy way out for the dev's, instead of having the player to go through another "final race" to some killswitch or heroic move. They said "cutscenes", but no additional "gameplay".

They never said there was going to be no gameplay. This is a common misconception.

We are far from a final "conventional battle" to end the Reaper's threat, any way you will try to put their statements in context. They will not "change the endings", they firmly stand by them, and believe in the team's vision and "artistic integrity". Take it any way you wish, that doesn't open any door to additional fights or "intrigue". Of course, we can still hope they change their minds, but I can see now how multiplayer has taken the front stage, and how the ranting on the endings has calmed down to near silence. That was easily forecasted by many players a while ago, mostly those who did not make a great fuss about the actual endings. Bioware has experience in these "after-ending commotions", and just waited for the storm to calm down. I do not think they will make something that could frustrate all these now gone players with an "all dream" surprise in the DLC.
