Quit while you're ahead. Don't get too far into the series, or get to invested in it, because you'll be extremely disappointed.

No, I won't be disappointed. You don't know me. I don't take this that seriousely. I play it not live it. I wish people would stop telling me to "run", "don't play", and all that nonsense. What gives people the right to tell me not to play a game if I want to? Are they trying to start a flame war?

That mini game only exists in ME1. ME2 has 2 different kinds of mini games and ME3 basically gets rid of them. :)

Just start with #3, there's no point in playing #1 and #2.

Don't listen to the naysayers. Form your own opinion instead.

I feel strongly about some changes made in ME3 and some parts of the plot. I won't go into details here. However, I still consider ME3 a good game and I don't see why you shouldn't be able to enjoy it.

The worst thing you can do is to get caught up in the negativity around here. I have no doubt you will enjoy the game much less if you read too much of it.

The title is "What do I do?" I told you what you should do. Whether or not you heed my warning is up to you and you alone.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.  I couldn't agree more.  I'm not even going to respond to the negative posts anymore.

Play the whole series, from ME1 to ME3. But do not take it to seriously, do not try to make a perfect save or anything like that, it is not worth it. But of course you might be one of the lucky ones that enjoys the whole package (I wish I was one of them) so I do suggest that you play the whole series and make up your own mind.

Playing only ME3 would be wierd I think, it would be like watching only the last lord of the rings movie.

They have a right to the game but not to the ending. That's the decision of the writers. The writers are the artists and they are not beholden to anyone. If people don't like the endings then don't buy any more of their games.

I pay money for inferior products all the time, it's called Made In China. But what can I do?

What really amazes me is how many people take this so seriousely. It's just a game. A G-A-M-E. Isn't there more to life than a game? Even a game with a disappointing ending? What game company can please 100% of it's customers 100% of the time?

The game is the intellectual property of the writers.  No one can claim any damages from an ending they don't like.

Do they write for themselves, or for the people who pay to hear it? They have said themselves, they write based on feedback. Sorry, but writers do change the story in the future from feedback now.

To Op: On the first page you said something about getting an xbox. I would wait for the next one. Don't get me wrong its been a good gaming system but its almost 8 years old. On ME3, I wouldn't beat it until you download the E.C. tuesday.

No Xbox for me, I like the PC.  If a game isn't available for the PC then I live without it.

I didn't know the EC came out on Tuesday, thanks for that.

Either play only the third and pretend the others don't exist or play from 1 then rue the ending.

This game is a blast. After playing as a Paragon I wanna play as a bad guy. So far I've taken out the maw, nuked the Rachni, done a lot of surveying and back to the Citadel. Trying to get as many CODEX entries as I can, doing as many side assignments as I can, and learning the game. I think it's a really cool game so far. I can't wait to find out what happens with Saren and how he ties into the Reapers if al at all.

Some posters wanted to know as I played so here it is.

Sorry if I seemed hostile to anyone.

I WISH they would make Dragon Age 2 for the PC. I even sent a request but they never got back to me.

It's enough to make me want to buy an Xbox but this PC I built screams and the graphics are stunning. But if Bioware/EA doesn't make more PC games that are available on the Xbox I guess I'll have to buy one.

Might be answered but.....there is Dragon Age 2 for PC.

Sorry, didn't read through the whole topic.

Start at the start. Whilst ME1 lacks the polish of the later games in places, it's where it all began, and you really can't appreciate the flavour of the universe in my humble opinion without having dusted off the Mako on some distant planet, look up across the vista, and suddenly realise 'I'm driving .. on another planet!'. ME1 nails the space opera, ME2 tidied up the gameplay but to me felt a little more Star Trek to ME1's Babylon 5, if that makes any sense at all.

Granted I'm one of those strange people that liked regenerating ammo, elevators rather than loading screens, and finding new and exciting ways to catapult the Mako down a 2km drop that ought to smash it to bits... but maybe that's just me.

As for the endiing, I'll reiterate what I said in a previous post.  I have read hundreds of books and some had bad endings and I got over it.  Did I write the author or publisher and complain, no, I moved on to another book.

And that's good for you. What we did instead was organize a movement to (at least) have the ending expanded. For some, that won't be enough. For others, it'll work, meaning that organized movement resulted in something worthwhile. If you didn't complain to the authors, that was simply your choice.

The writers of this franchise have a right to write whatever they want, it's called artistic license the last time I checked.  If these complainers don't like it then maybe they should program their own game.

Sorry for the rant, just my two cents.

Pretty crappy logic here. For one, I pay these people precisely because I'm unable to program a quality a game. If I'm getting a crappy game regardless, I'll simply stop paying them. I'm not interested in artistic license if the end result is an unentertaining product. The artist has the right to make whatever they want. And if I don't like what they make, I have the right to make my voice as loud as I desire on the subject, thanks.

I started playing the Mass Effect games shortly after ME2 came out, but I started with ME1. I had a very hard time with the ME3 ending. I felt it was a bad way for the series to end. However, do not listen to anyone who says it's not worth it to play it. I didn't like the end to it all, but I am so glad I played the series, because I came to love it. I don't know if you will love, hate, or not really care either way about the ending, but please don't quit. It's worth all the long hours spent in the universe, even if the ending is bad.

Thanks DC, I am ambivilent about the ending really. It's just a game to me. Something to play and move on. It's a great game but I don't get too emotionally involved in games, they're just a way to entertain myself until a newer, better game comes out.
