You asked for advice. I gave you one, now if you don't like it, don't follow. Now stop acting like a 3 y/o and don't throw me that "kid" crap.

Your advice was to run without any particular reason.  Then I tell you how I feel about the game being just a game.  So how is that acting like a 3 year old?  And what does "throw me that "kid" crap" mean?

Just because I don't feel the way you do about the game doesn't mean you have to get hostile.

Remember, the Citadel, the Normandy, Sheperd, they are all fiction.  They don't exist in real life.

I skimmed through this thread last night after someone necro'd it, and now that you're on to ME2 I'm curious to know if you've stuck with the soldier class. It's arguably the strongest class in ME2, it's the only class I played that seemed like it had a chance of surviving the object rho fight (my adept died before killing anyone...)

Once you get to ME3 though, I'd recommend trying another class. They're much more balanced in the third game, and the biotic and tech powers that other classes get are really one of the things that set this game apart from so many other shooters. You could even experiment around with them in multiplayer to get a taste of their playstyles.

Definitely give vanguard a try in SP if you have the time (though it is bugged in MP, you have to host when playing that class or you'll get hit with the dreaded vanguard glitch and be knocked out of the rest of the match.) After two games of cover based shooting, biotic charging into every enemy's face is an absolute game changer.

What does necro'd mean?
Yes, I'm still a soldier. I play this on a PC and an Xbox and on the Xbox I play as an Infiltrator. I plan on playing several times as a different class.
I do like the biotic abilities but I also like the firepower of a soldier.
As for multiplayer, I never, under any circumstances play it. I don't know why but I hate it in any game. I just like playing a game on my own.
I will definetly try vanguard, it looks cool.

You really should be starting with the first game, not the third.

The third game is a good entry point.

It's better to start at the first or second games because once you get used to the ME3 syle of playing, you'll hate playing the awkward first game mechanics, and you'll feel like your legs are made of concrete in the second game. (Movement in ME2 is really slow and encumbered compared to all the rolling and jumping cover in ME3)

And the importing of games is pretty crucial to getting the full extent of the story and enjoyment out of these games.

If I could do it all over, I'd start with ME1.

OK, MY fisrt reaction is if it's SO bad, and I mean the ending is REALLY, REALLY bad, then why do people come to this forum? Why don't they move on with their lives?

I AM the OP and I am NOT going to "run away" or "jump ship", as I indicated above it's a GAME!!!!!!!

When I finish with the games I move on to other games. I'm an adult, I think I can handle a lousy ending, I didn't want to say this but if I can handle my 2 year-old daughter dying than I can handle anything.

"Necro" refers to posting in a thread that hasn't been posted in in a long time (as in, bringing it back from the dead.)

The thing about ME3 is that they get rid of class based weapon restrictions, which means soldiers have much less of a firepower advantage. I had loads of fun playing a soldier in ME1 and 2, but it's the only class I haven't completed 3 with, I literally got bored with it a third of the way through.

With all other classes, the playstyle remains roughly the same - stay in cover so you don't die, and pop up to either fire your weapon or fire a power. Starting in ME2 though the vanguard class got a major makeover thanks to biotic charge, it lets you recharge your shields frequently so cover becomes unnecessary. Then they added nova in ME3 for even more close range destruction. Vanguard Shepard is a savage beast that has no business being in a cover based shooter, which makes it hilariously fun at times.

As for the endings, I think if the EC content had been in there from the start the controversy would never have happened. They're still not perfect so all of the complainers still feel their woe is justified, but they're now definetely above average as far as video game endings go.

Thanks for the advice Imp. The only real divverence I see is the weird way in which Shepard runs with his head down on the Normandy.

I was thinking about going VG in 3. Right now I'm having a lot of fun in 2 and ME1 was excellent. I LOVED the planets. I guess they all have their strong points. I don't complain about games because I didn't write it. And before I pay a cent for a game I do a LOT of research. I made ONE mistake and that was buying Risen 2. What a stinkbomb. LOL!

ME2 has a few significant differences from 1, for one thing all of your powers are on a relatively short shared cooldown rather than having slower individual ones, which in my opinion makes them play a bigger part in the fight, and rather than sort of being obligated to run through all of your powers each cooldown cycle you get to pick which power best fits the situation and stick with that without gimping your damage output.

You have thermal clips instead of weapon overheating (for better or worse.)

The guns have a lot more variety, particularly if you buy the weapon packs (I'd recommend the one that includes the geth plasma shotgun, its a lot of fun to use.)

Enemy powers are not the same as friendly powers in ME2 - you'll never be ragdolled by an enemy's throw the way you would in ME1, which takes some of the randomness out of the combat difficulty. I remember having to replay some fights in ME1 several times before that one enemy that kept knocking me down and getting me killed happened to hit a squadmate instead.

A lot of the powers and ammos have unique animations and more complicated effects, rather than just being statistically different as they were in ME1 (i.e. cryo ammo actually freezes targets rather than just altering your numerical damage output.)

Nah, finished 1, playing 2 and will play 3.  I'm having too much fun to run away.

I know a lot of people don't lke the ending but it's just a game.  Only a game.  When I finish these I'll move on to other games I haven't played yet.  Doesn't mean I don't find it very immersive and engrossing and I like how decisions in one game affect the next but it doesn't dominate my life or thoughts.  It's just fun to play.

I am glad you liked it, I really did not

my orginal comment was intended to be a joke;)
