Man -- it's been a long time since I've seen a whole post in leet.

Or rather, "1337."

No kidding!  I was a BBS sysop in Boise in the 80's.  Back then leet was more ASCII than alphanumeric characters.

Raise your arms in the air.
Run around in a large, open circle.
Scream at the top of your lungs.

Some of the hostility I see here is amazing. Why even post here if you hate the games so much? Are you trying to hurt EA/Bioware or something? I just started ME1 and I'm finding it very entertaining. If you don't like the game buy and play something different. Posting snide comments really doesn't add anything to a civilized forum. Do some people come here just to make people angry? Does it hurt to be nice? To be respectful of others?

I did warn you that ME3 caused a stir, didn't I?  :D

You did warn me iakus and you were right but it's not something I understand. It's illogical, these visceral responses to a game make no sense to me unless someone wants to start a flame war. As I indicated above I'm playing the game (ME!) and liking it and I know the ending of ME3 but it doesn't bother me. Even if I get REALLY emotionally wrapped up in the games and it has a lousy ending, so what? I have a real life, I go hiking daily, I read, I have a family, it's only a game. Plus, when I finish this game there will be others. I'm looking forward to Dishonored for instance.

It's the perceived betrayal of the series, the characters, and even the player.  Perhaps once you've played throught the trilogy you'll understand more.  Or perhaps forwarned it won't hit you so hard.  Tiough to say.  Though I envy your going through ME1 for the 1st time.  The first game has always been my favorite.

Make no mistake, I hate the endings too.  For multiple reasons.  So much that it taints the entire trilogy for me.  I spent five years enjoying the series, speculating on how it would turn out, only to have it end like...that.  Perhaps being new to the series you're not as attatched to the series or the characters yet and it doesn't hit you as hard.

I try to keep my rage under control or at least in the spoiler forum.  But the anger you see isn't just a few isolated cases.  Just the more extreme ones.

Wow-- that takes me back. Though I was more likely to be found on CompuServe back in the day.

It's conceivable. It's also conceivable he'll react to the ending the way I did.

After all, he isn't coming in on waves of hype. And he proably won't have unrealistic expectations for the levels of choice and consequences available in ME3.

Yeah, remember CompuServe being a front-end to the net?  There were several, I think Delphi was one, AOL another.  Remember dial up BBS's as I said?  Me and my buddy even had ours listed in that thick old book called the Computer Shopper, remember that?  I used to order chips to make my own computers from scratch with breadboards.  Our BBS was called Rattlesnake Station.  We ran Atari XLs, then I went to Macs and PCs.  This really dates us dont it?  :o

More impressions. Lots of elevator rides. Lots of side missions. I like the map and journal features. Had some sound issues but I resolved them by modifying a config file. I like all the different alien races. I like the assignments and how they're triggered, I also like the way the little box pops up unobtrusively on the right when you get XP and such. The screen is uncluttered and I like the little radar on the bottom right. It's fun talking to everyone and the scenery is awesome. Overall ME1 is turning out to be a very fun ride.

Yeah I did but I had no idea what I was seeing. It was like walking into the middle or ending of a movie. Besides, it was a short clip so I only saw about 20 seconds of it. I really have no idea what was going on.

Yep. AlanC9 is what my AOL account defaulted to when I joined. My Mac SE spoiled me for non-graphical interfaces, which is why I drifted there from Compuserve. I think I joined AOL a couple months after they stopped being AppleLink

I only junked that Mac a couple of months ago. After the hard disk blew I still used it to occasionally play Balance of Power or Ancient Art of War from floppies.

Funny, I had about 300 hours of play time between ME1 and 2, and that is EXACTLY how I felt when I got to the end of 3...

No, I loved playing Mass Effect 3, I am expressing my reasons why the ending of the former sucks. What I'm saying is your hard work of playing all three games will be all for nothing.

Well, I would respond by saying that it's not really hard work if you're playing.  If it was work I'd make sure I was paid for it ala beta testing.

Man I used to LOVE Balance OF Power and I had an SE too!  My favorite all-time program in life has to be The Comic Factory.  I wish I still had a Mac and it.  Too bad someone couldn't make a program like that again.  And BOP is eerily looking like today.  :o

Lucky you playing the games for the first time =) I'm a fan but I play a game 2-3 times and don't touch it until the next one arrives. So it had been 5 years since I played ME1 when I played ME3 and it made me want to start over the first game and play the trilogy nonstop. It was great even though I knew exactly what's to happen.

Anyway, I haven't been around the forums because of too much complaining about the ending (and little else) and I see it's not changed much. I for one have a few problems with ME3 but they have nothing to do with the ending. Guess it helps I knew next to nothing about what BW was promising nor did I have expectations this high or that low. So what I'm trying to say is you might love or hate the ending in the end but I believe the journey there is definitely worth it =)

Thank you Baris.  My sentiments exactly.  It IS the journey.  After it ends then I start a new game, a different gane.

How dare you say I didn't play the game! >:-[
I played it all the way to the end and look where we are today! You're like a sad puppy who wishes its master would return one day but never did.
Plus, nearly everybody I know agrees the ending sucks. Now admit it!
