For all who think that reload cancelling was put there for a reason you are extremely naive. It's obvious that the reason they say it was intentional is because it would be very hard to fix the issue. The simplest way for them to mitigate this problem was to call this mistake intentional. Plain and simple. A lot of companies use this same tactic when a mistake ends up being favorable in the eyes of the consumer.

I could accept your explanation if we were talking about ME2. I don't find it convincing, but it at least has some logic to it. But why they would again repeat the same glitch in ME3? To cover up even further? Don't you think it would be beyond ridiculous?

Here you have an over 2 years old thread, when ME3 wasn't yet in development, and reload cancel is mentioned as a feature: http://social.biowar...06000/8#1070645

I rather believe Christina Norman, when she says she did it intentionally in ME2. Even if I would think it was a glitch in ME2, the only explantion for it being in ME3 that it was well received and therefore put intentionally.

I don't think reload canceling should be pulled from the game; too much is balanced around it, the players are too acclimated to it, and the devs are busy attending to a bunch of other, higher priority issues.

However, I do agree that reload canceling is poor game design, at least for Mass Effect. It was pointed out to me on this thread that most fighting games revolve around animation canceling, though I consider the spirit of that to be markedly different.

You might find the discussion on that thread a bit more interesting than the one going on here, since it addresses the core issue that's bothering the OP instead of asking for something that obviously isn't going to happen.

I hope having characters actually pick up clips and grenades from ammo boxes and putting them into belts/pockets isn't the next step in your plan :o

Because they didn't bother to fix it? It's not game breaking (well, except for OP), so they decided to label this glitch as a feature. It has happened in many other games, not only ME3. In any case, like I said, it's not game breaking.

It's an exploit that they called a feature because fixing bugs doesn't make them any money in the short term.

But yes, I wish they would reconsider. And I use the glitch all the time unintentionally by sprinting.

These are the kind of posts that confuse me ... for two pages I've been quoting the developer ... talking about how they added it in for ME2, tuned it, and was also looking at how to tune it better for ME3.  This was not some mistake they accidently made.

Please read before spreading your misinformation.

You completely missed the point. I am well aware about their comments on the subject.  What im saying is that they did not intend to make reload cancel part of the game. It was a glitch that they decided not to spend time and resources fixing because some gamers liked it. Why would they fix it in ME3 if some gamers liked it? It would be a waste of time and money to the guys at EA and Bioware.....Mostly EA because of their money-grubbing ways

Geth don't let you reload now anyway.

Hunters have stunlock
Primes have stunlock
Rocket Troopers have stunlock

So when u go to do a regular reload, if ur hit, even if the animation is right at the end and u hear the 'click click' sound of ur gun reloading, it will not finish the reload and ur mag will still be empty. Leaving you unable to fight back. The stunlock bs even stops you from using a power quickly so you can't even retreat.

Geth is now broken imo.

I will only play Cerb/Reapers from now. F*** cheap and nasty Geth. And btw Bioware already said reload cancelling was a feature and they weren't going to remove it

I don't think you understand how coding works.

You're also making assumptions and flinging them around like they're facts. You somehow know for a FACT that Bioware didn't intened Reload Cancels in Me3? How did you beomce privy to this sensitive data?

Heads should roll!

IMO, reload cancelling is no different than credit glitching or the new rocket glitch.  If you use reload cancelling, you are cheating plain and simple.  Yeah yeah, BioWare has stated it is "working as intended" but that is just covering their asses because they can't figure out how to remove it.

So even if it was a glitch in ME2 (what I don't actually believe), it became a feature in ME3. Unintended in ME2, intended in ME3. Also, it really doesn't matter if it started as a glitch or not - it was decided by Bioware it is a feature, so it is a feature.

Yeah, its a feature that is not going away. It took me a long time to master it in ME2. If you want to do it you just have to practice a lot. Its really a pain in the neck to do until it becomes second nature to you and you don't have to think about it. I would not want to take that "learned" action away from people who have mastered it.

I'm sorry, but that is ridiculous. I had no idea about reload cancelling until a while ago when I read abour it here on this forum, but in no way would I call it cheating. It's simply a trick to use the game mechanics more effectively and doesn't exploit any bugs or glitches like the examples you stated.

I've started to jump down from ledges backwards in order to avoid the landing animation, so is that cheating, too?

Quite possibly, kinda the same as walking backwards to move faster during a Pizza objective. It's a very minor level of game "glitch" explotation. The big difference between these little tricks and something like the rocket and credit glitch are the overall impact on the game. Both in a single game or to the meta. The Credit glitch breaks both the "achievement" of packs and Bioware/EA money stream (IMO if there store wasn't as glitchy or random as it is I don't think it would have been as big an issue). The Rocket gltich has a similar kind of impact to the Credit glithc.

I also use animation canceling a bit with the Cerberus Vanguard's Lash and Smash abilties. Lash leaves you out of cover for quite some time so I've started manually working the cover, leave cover (press universal button) > Lash > part way through reenter cover before Lash has made to the target. Smash can be canceled part way while still getting the hit/shockwave.

Given how gltiched ME3 is it is really hard to know what the Developers intened with many of these tiny glitches. Perhaps if they printed up a since sheet or document outlining what the Meta should be, we could keep an eye out for where its breaking. But that would be silly because they're never going to let the communty do their beta testing for them. Then at that it would still take 2 to 3 months to get alterations approved.

Console scrubs gonna be jelly

IMO reload cancelling isn't that gamebreaking and the devs have stated that it was an implemented feature.

lol people comparing reload canceling with rocket glitch. Not only funny but two very different things. One is cheating another is intended by bioware.

I've been on these forums since the game came out and remember the reply made from a bioware dev saying reload canceling is fine.

Just out of curiosity, why do you wish it removed?

Because it leaves the company deciding whether a bug/glitch/exploit is allowed or not depending on how much money they miss out. Exhibits:

Reload Cancel

Allows some players (especially on PC) to score more points with powerful weapons. (E.g. Claymore).  BW must have decided that (a) it was imposible to police and (B) it didn't loose them too much money.

Off the Map Sniper position on Hydra.

Makes Hydra survivable, especially when going Solo.  Allows a player to score points more easily. Again difficult to police, and also probably doesn't hurt BW's pocket too much.

Infinite Missiles using the Missile Glitch

Makes Platinum and Gold very easy and top scoring for players who probably are not that good.  Allows them to purchase many packs without real money. Hits BW in the wallet and hence is banned.

The interesting thing is that both Missile Glitching and Reload cancelling use a similar button bashing method, but only one is banned.

Very simple, either allow the exploit of any game bugs. Or remove them.  BW should not be allowed to set the rules based on the $ value to them.

IMHO

When a soldier in real life reloads a gun for the first time he/she isn't very quick about it. If you come back and watch the same soldier reload a gun after 3 months of practice, you'll see he/she has become very apt at completing the task. Why shouldn't ME characters have this 'learning' skill as well?
