It would really help solve some marketing problems.

Dragon Age 3: Origins        Let that title roll around a bit.

Simply won't happen.

Since the main character is voiced, you'd need two VAs for each race, instead of just two VAs for the PC. Unfortunately, I think there's no way that'll get through EA's cost benefit analysis.

As long as you can't have a female Kossith because they can't be warriors.Posted Image

Origins served an important purpose. They gave insight into what life was like for the different backgrounds. Once you have that established, then unless the race plays differently , is reacted to differently and has uniqueness. It's really just another skin.

The last time I listen to a dwarf I unleashed a gigantic demon sword on Kirwall.

I wouldn´t care if my elf and human had the same voice.

Bioware have pretty much established the regional accents for each race. Even if you did not mind having the same voice, you would still need elf specific dialogue. Unless it's just a case of wanting to look like an elf.

A human with an American accent?  Scandelous! (By the way, did you notice that the elves in DA2 had both American and Welsh/Irish accents?  What was up with that?)

They make cinematics involving your character more of a headache than they need to be, so I doubt it.

Not necessary at all.

Though more interactivity with the background of the player character would be nice, in some form.

It would be nice. It's not absolutely necessary

What are the odds that the new protagonist will have a French accent? So one actor and actress no matter what race. Problem solved.

Easily fixed if the origin is shared. You are a human/elf/etc adopted by some half elven family in the alienage. Odd, yes, but we can't have everything.

It would be really nice but I could live without multiple races.

But why does the default choice have to be human? Why can't the default be a elf? Or the apparently freakishly popular giant grey people?

Defaults tend to be the one that people new to the game relate easiest.

Not really, unless you're human-racist. I don't think you need that much races to enjoy one game.

Wait....if you want options to play as other races, you're a human-racist?  Am I reading this right?

I wanna play as a Kossith! They are so cool, and they did concept art for a female Kossith but none were ever in DA2 hope they're in the third game

For me not having the option of playing multiple races is a deal-breaker. I was pretty shocked when i played DA2 the first time and realized i couldn't play as a elf or dwarf. I wouldn't have bought it if i had known. In a fantasy RPG game i consider the option of playing different races as important to be able to play both sexes. But that is just my opinion.
