I'm trying to add a new facial animation to a cutscene. What I don't understand is how to get my work in FaceFX back into the toolset. I add "Animate Face" to a track, and hit 'edit FaceFX'. However, what I want to do is use FaceFX itself to create a new animation from an audio file and then import that into my cutscene.

Note that I want to create a new animation using the 'wizard' you can access from the animation manager. I can't figure out how to post this back to the toolset.

So, how do I create a new animation in FaceFX and then have it show up in my cutscene. The cutscene tutorial hasn't been a lot of help.

EDIT: I tried to hit edit FaceFx, delete the blank animation that comes up and creating a new group/animation with the string id of the 'animate face' object, as mentioned in the facefx wiki page. However, when I try to post this to local, I am told to import an animation set, and I don't know where to find these or if that is my only problem.

There are 'facial' animations in the regular list of animations. Try and add a normal 'animation' to your track and see if you can find the name of your animation in the list. I haven't played with custom animations so I have no idea how those work but you might want to check in the normal animations list.

Thanks for the reply. I looked at that briefly and I don't think that is the answer; I can't find the animation there.

The 'animate face' button has to be there for a reason. You can't select pre-existing animations; it creates a new 'blank' one. I just can't figure out how to properly specify what the new one should be.

Okay, so it appears I actually can edit the new blank animation; I just wasn't seeing the changes without checking the cutscene in and out.

However, I still have a big problem in that I can't figure out how to use the 'new animation' wizard from the animation manager and have that show up in the cutscene editor. That is, I want FaceFX to analyse an audio file and produce some animation, then edit that by hand, then put it back in the game as a facial animation for a cutscene. Using a conversation won't work for what I'm doing, so I can't just edit a line's animation.

EDIT: Okay, I got it to work. Deleting the animation in FaceFX and creating a new one with the same name in the same group does in fact work. The reason my animation was not working in the cutscene editor is because it was simply too long. Exporting a shorter animation works fine.
