How likely are you to purchase DLC and future Bioware products, if the EC is a bust?

As my emotions cool I can ME3 for what it is, a solid game with some questionable design decisions and a weak main story but packed with terrific moments. The ending as it stands nullifies everything about the previous games. If EC cannot fix that then I might have to give up on Mass Effect completely unless I can learn to ignore the ending, and on future playthroughs stop at Cerberus Base and let the story play out in my head. In that case I probably could buy DLC.

I will very probably buy DA3 as despite it's flaws I still enjoyed DA2. It would be unfair to punish that team for the mistakes of others and BioWare can still make their slick interactive telenovelas with strong memorable characters

I'm more or less done with Bioware. Mass Effect was great, but I've come to dislike the way EA runs things, what with their "wider audience" nonsense, and Bioware has fallen victim to that.

The EC could convince me that ME3 isn't a total write off, but that remains to be seen

It doesn't matter either way; due to the arrogant, childish, and unprofessional way they reacted towards those who had a single negative thing to say about the game (especially the ending), they cost themselves my business. If they release any ME1 or DAO quality games, they will be bought used. As for DLC, it will all be bought on a 50%+ off sale if I get any at all.

BioWare wants to get my money, then they had best start releasing DAO/ME1 quality games again and stop with the attitude that they are entitled to our money and stop demanding immunity from criticism under the guise of "artistic integrity".

I won't be buying any DLC.  Why would I buy DLC for a game I despise?

As for future Bioware games, they'll have to win me back again.  Before, they could just take my money.  I was a day one pre-release buyer who also bought all the extended merchandise (t-shirts, books, comics, etc.).  I told all my friends how great Mass Effect was...how it's changing video games and entertainment.  Now, I've told my friends to stay away from ME3, and I'll be buying all future Bioware games when they go on sale for $20 or less until they win my trust back.  That's the way they won my trust in the beginning.  It's a shame to go back to square one, but oh well.  At least we'll always have KOTOR.

Of course, that's assuming they fail to fix things with the EC.  While Tali's face reveal remains the single, most mind boggling example of half-***ery that I've ever encountered in 30 years of playing video games (I got started when my parents bought an Atari 2600 for Christmas), it's the endings that completely ruin the entire ME franchise.  In story telling, it's the last impression that means everything, not the first.

Whenever I think of the ME3 endings, I can't help but think of the E.T. game for the Atari 2600.  And those of us who are old enough know what happened with all those unsold games.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atari_video_game_burial

That's what I'd do with my copies of ME 1, 2, and 3 if they weren't all digital downloads.

If the game looks good I'll buy it. If the DLC looks good I'll buy it. I've bought bad games from companies and bought good games from the same company, I don't judge the company by the game I judge the game by the game.

Not trying to start a fight here, but i think a large majority of you would. Large enough to give Bioware the idea that no matter how bad they screw us, you'll keep giving them money. Because I remember 3 months ago, almost everybody was talking about holding the line/wallet, and how Bioware will never see another penny from them again.

Now not so much. Seems like a lot of you have forgiven Bioware. If i'm wrong, feel free to tell me how wrong i am, but i've seen this kind of thing before. Consumers complain and complain, and yet they keep buying the companies products. I do know of some specific people on here, that will probably stick to their guns, but i'm not sure about the rest of you.

People are waiting for ec but if it's bad I won't buy anything or at least buy it used on principle and won't get dlc others wait till ec comes out if it is bad it will be the ultimate s***storm

Zero percent chance for purchasing DLC for ME3.  In order to change that, the EC would have to rewrite the ending, which they said already they won't do.

Other games, well, currently not likely at all, although that is subject to change.  It will take something monumental for BioWare and EA to get back into my good graces, though.  The ME3 debacle is their third (actually fourth) strike after things like DA2.

No more preorders for me either.  My trust in that area, always a fragile thing (I rarely buy a game before I have a chance to play it first, and only if it's been made by someone who's already made games I like), has been irrevocably shattered.

It will not affect my decision in the slightest. If a film director makes a disappointing movie, that doesn't mean I will avoid all his future movies, and it certainly doesn't make me decide to vocally boycott them!

i find it funny that some people would/do

I have, but that's for just M.night shamalyan, if people thought mass effect was bad, I wonder if they ever saw what happened to the last airbender movie.

That is a middle finger to fans.

Compared to that EA and Bioware just gave me a bouquet of roses, a new rolex watch with receipt in case I want to exchange it for cash, and a new car that I just happened to hate the color but who the hell cares if it's neon pink, it's a ****ing new dodge charger! My manhood can take the hit from dirving it around.

EDIT: well that turned into a rant quick. my answer is yes, I will probably purchase another bioware product if it looks interesting to me, while many here do not agree I still believe that bioware is one of the best game developers on the market, maybe not the greatest in many fans eyes now but still better than almost everyone else.

Even before bothering with the EC I'll wait and see what the fan reaction is; whether it's even worth downloading or not. If it is actually good (which would be a miracle considering that they said that they are not changing the endings or adding any new ones), I'll probably download it. If it makes the ending more tolerable I might buy ME DLCs in the future, but again, I'll wait for fan reaction first. And only because I loved the ME universe so much.

As for buying any BW games in the future: probably not. I don't like how they mislead us about so many things, including the fact that you HAVE TO play MP to get enough points to see all endings (and they still haven't done anything to fix this issue), and I don't like how they treated the fans (and they still do). They have to come out with a really, really amazing game for me to buy from them again. But I'll never pre-order a BW game again. I'll wait and see what the fan reviews say.

And I'll definitely not listen to the pro reviewers.

The damage has already been done.
Its just so weird that they have to actually release a DLC to conclude the story, when it could've been easily added at the start. Sorry BW, but you messed up ME at the worst possible moment.

Still.... the problem's mostly with the ending and the rest of the game was really good.
So whatever happens with the EC, I would still give future DLCs a chance.

I'd have to say no. There's no way in hell I would spend money on any future DLC content. I mean ME3's ending pretty much makes any future DLC expansions irrevlant.

As for buying future Bioware titles? I don't know. With the way Mass effect 3 and Dragon Age 2 turned out, I really can't see myself buying another Bioware game in the foreseeable future.

It depends on the would be game and if the DLC is worth it. I'll buy great DLCs for great games! But not great DLCs for bad games. Or bad DLCs for good games. And definitely not bad DLCs for bad games.

i might get it, get mad and ask why bioware and then move on because whats the point of hating something when people are still going to come back and hate like a baby just like STOR when haters still keep coming back, to be real SWTOR isn't all that bad and i like SWTOR becuase i'm not a spoiled brat who whats everyting to be perfect but tho FF15 is still the worst the mmo i have seen so far.

That is rather pointless indeed. If you hate particular games stop buying the games, if you hate the company don't buy from them. It's that simple.  SWTOR is pretty good, not perfect indeed, but it's good.  It's FF14. And it's improved a lot now. It's actually good and will be even better after December this year. It's definitely worse mmo's out there as well. Ever played Rappelz? Very boring mmo.

That's pretty much how it is for me. The EC was suppose to be their saving throw, but they failed.

It's not that people have forgiven BW, it's that people who are >really< pissed off already left, and the people who are waiting to see what's in the EC are tired after three months of screaming, but disheartened by words like "clarification" and "closure". I, for instance, only poke my head in here occasionally to see if there's any EC news - other than the faint hope that BW is going to reveal that they were totally kidding, and they retconn the entire ending, I just can't care anymore.

So the board is full of people who liked the ending or still have some hope that the EC will fix it.

As for me, after the huge pile of awful that was DA2 (I bought all dlc for DA:O, ME1, ME2, none at all for DA2), ME3 was BW's chance to keep me as a customer. I figured they had it in the bag, and DA2 was a fluke.

It was not a fluke. The ending of ME3 was so horrifically bad, I dearly wish I hadn't loved ME1 so much - that I'd never become "emotionally invested" in the series. That emotional investment had no pay-off.
