No, really, I think he as a unique face for a male model, he looks kind of sad even when he's not actually acting (kind of like Sylvester Stallone, look at this if you don't believe me) and I always find him quite outside the stereotype, even if he can look like the classic buzzcut military hero at first sight. EDIT: also, over the course of Mass Effect 2 I think the ability of Shepard to look and epic and then completely dumb the moment later is unmatch. He's the perfect comic relief sometimes and he doesn't even know it. 

If I understand that video clip correctly it shows Mark Vanderloo driving to his latest photoshoot/fashionshow/whatever. His ordinary chauffeur had called in sick so Mark had to drive the car himself wich was bad since he barley knows how to drive, much less read a map. He had to buy coffee from starbucks instead of getting it served from his usual assistants. Someone had written him a note, telling him how to get to his destination but since he can't read (on account of him being a retarded photomodel and all) he just keeps on driving and driving.

I dont hate him. I just consider it a missed oppurtunity (on Biowares behalf) to use a photomodel to portray your main char in an epic space saga.

I think he's a good choice. He does stand out as a pretty recognizable face after all.

Why do you use the default male Shepard when playing ME?

I have played ME and ME2 as both male and female shepard and ME3 - once - as male shepard and I could never in a million years see myself using the default male Shepard model (ie Sheploo). The character customization tool is pretty unforgiving (esp when creating a maleShep) but that is time I GLADLY spend doing and redoing my male shep compared to using Mark Vanderloos likness. I mean COME ON! Shepard is suppossed to be this bad-ass, supersmart Commander, not some dimwitted, dutch photomodel. If I am in need of some airhead to suck in his cheeks, prance around on the catwalk, give audience the "blue steel"-look (patented by Zoolander) and sell underwear, sure I'll give Mark Vanderloo a call. But if I want someone to save the galaxy? No...   just, no.

Bioware has NO problem using real people to be the basis for their characters so why didn't they use someone that look masculine AND smart when they created the default maleShep. Mark Vanderloo - with his neanderthal look - undoubtedly has the masuline part down but he also look like someone who writes" X" when asked to sign his name on a document. I would say that he look as smart as Coco the monkey but that might actually be an insult to Coco. She knew sign language after all, something I seriously doubt Sheploo... I mean Mark Vanderloo does. I personally would have used someone like Guy Pearce to be the model for Shepard. Someone who seems to have a brain behind his eyes.

I have problem even looking at the guy so to spend 200+ hours with his likness. I dont think so. Please tell me your resons for using - and liking - him. And don't give me the "I'm a lazy bum that can't be bothered to invest in the games I play"-excuse, I want REAL answers.

You're really making a lot of baseless assumptions and insinuations based on the fact that you don't like the way he looks. That said, while I have never used default shep myself, the editor isn't the greatest and I can certainly understand someone not wanting to mess with it/thinking the default looks better. The facial expressions are also modelled on default shep and work somewhat better with it.

As I said originally I can't understand why they choose Mark Vanderloo since he looks kinda dumb (maybe he is REALLY smart IRL but he LOOKS dumb). Also as I said before, if I had been in charge of choosing the default Sheps's face (wich im not) I would have gone for someone like Guy Pearce, a young Paul Newman or maybe even Brad Pitt. You know, someone with strong masculine features but who also look coherent and like they know what they are talking about.

You chose Brad Pitt as an example of an intelligent looking guy? Really? Also, push comes to shove, I'd prefer someone who actually knows what they're talking about as opposed to someone who looks like they do.

The other textures are CLEARLY not high resolution.

They can end up looking like....Allers. 

I've seen some waxy girls naked before, but nothing that ever made me question what they were made out of.

And I'm still in my twenties.

I've played ME-2 at least 8 times, never used Sheploo.

I don't understand how Shepard "looks" dumb or doesn't "look" the part of of a space soldier. Considering the different classes available (soldier/combat, engineer/tech/smarts, sentinel/biotic/tech) to the player, a player can play as a head-first soldier vanguard or a "smart" tactical squishy who doesn't want to get blown up.

Sheploo is a face. And faces sell games. There's a reason Miranda is on the cover of ME-2 and not Jacob, even tho you spend equal amounts of time with both early on in the game. To sell the game to the demographic EA/Bioware believes will buy the game (most likely white caucasians both men and women from ages 20 to 40) you can't put Jay Baruchel or Seth Myers or Bill Hader on the cover. You need a guy who looks tough enough to fight but good enough that it catches people's eye. And unfortunately, studies show that conventionally attractive people get others to do things for them more than anyone else. So you got Sheploo. Simple as that.

What bothered me the most with the character creator "options" was the ridiculous difference between complexions. You can choose between a wax figure or 60 years old person who likes to take acid showers.

Basically sounds like he just wanted a face that people recognize, not a face that "looks smart". Brad Pitt is the epitome of "looks the part but doesn't have the goods". I have yet to see a movie with Brad Pitt where he's not playing Brad Pitt. And I like him but he's nothing special talent wise.

Sheploo is just a face. That's it. The personality, the smarts behind Shep, that's up to the player to bring that to the character.

Yes. They all look absurd. Vanderloo has a perfect face, and I don't think I could play without it.

I have never and will never use Sheploo. I find the face horrible looking.
