Why use Sheploo?

He's since gotten better, however Sheploo has been stuck with that look for the rest of eternity.

I like the default Shepard look. And as many others have said, I also suck at creating custom male Shepard faces. They tend to end up looking more like male Shepard feces...
And in ME3 default male Shepard looks a hell of a lot better then neanderthal femshep

Because I have yet to see a face for Shepard that looks better than Sheploo.

Taking a break from the ongoing ending/IT/EC-disussion I have a question for you ME-players. I know this probably have been disussed on other threads buy frankly I can't be bothered to look them up so here goes:
Why do you use the default male Shepard when playing ME?
I have played ME and ME2 as both male and female shepard and ME3 - once - as male shepard and I could never in a million years see myself using the default male Shepard model (ie Sheploo). The character customization tool is pretty unforgiving (esp when creating a maleShep) but that is time I GLADLY spend doing and redoing my male shep compared to using Mark Vanderloos likness. I mean COME ON! Shepard is suppossed to be this bad-ass, supersmart Commander, not some dimwitted, dutch photomodel. If I am in need of some airhead to suck in his cheeks, prance around on the catwalk, give audience the "blue steel"-look (patented by Zoolander) and sell underwear, sure I'll give Mark Vanderloo a call. But if I want someone to save the galaxy? No... just, no.
Bioware has NO problem using real people to be the basis for their characters so why didn't they use someone that look masculine AND smart when they created the default maleShep. Mark Vanderloo - with his neanderthal look - undoubtedly has the masuline part down but he also look like someone who writes" X" when asked to sign his name on a document. I would say that he look as smart as Coco the monkey but that might actually be an insult to Coco. She knew sign language after all, something I seriously doubt Sheploo... I mean Mark Vanderloo does. I personally would have used someone like Guy Pearce to be the model for Shepard. Someone who seems to have a brain behind his eyes.
I have problem even looking at the guy so to spend 200+ hours with his likness. I dont think so. Please tell me your resons for using - and liking - him. And don't give me the "I'm a lazy bum that can't be bothered to invest in the games I play"-excuse, I want REAL answers.
Because BioWares CC design sucks. Custom faces often times don't mesh well with preset facial animations either, since those were created specifically for the default faces.
I use Sheploo because his face doesn't contort into weirdness, unlike custom ones due to BW's hack job coding.

Yeah, the one and only instance of sheploo looking ****ed up, compared to ohhh....every single cutscene using custom shep.

QFT. The in-game default femshep was definitely bad.anorling wrote...

Oh please, Sheploo is a creepy bastard nearly all the time.
I've seen plenty of custom Sheps who look absolutely fine in whatever scene they're in.

I think people don't understand how to use the custom character thing. I've only had ONE Shep who didn't look as good as I wanted him to look and that's cuz I miscalculated the droopiness of the eyes. Outside of that, my Sheps look good. ::looks lovingly at Ace Shepard to the left::
Personally I've always thought your one there is cute. Maybe it's the Zorro-stache..
Anyway... I've made good looking characters out of far, far worse character customisers than this one (Oblivion I'm looking at you) so I've never found it very hard either.
Well that and I try about 20 times before I get a face just right. Also, never ever use the opening cutscene of Mass Effect 1 as a gauge of anything, that scene is guaranteed to make any Shep look terrible due to a voodoo curse, or something.

I can make good female faces, but I fail miserably at making a good male face in ME, I also share some features with sheploo anyway.
I've only made one nice custom male face, the rest never look right so I 99% of the time use the default face. I like the default face so it's not an issue for me.

When I try creating my own custom male shep face I often end up with a face that looks "ok" in the creator. But as soon as I see the face in a cut scene it suddenly looks like he's Diana Allers twin brother or something.
LOL, that's my problem too. It took me about 30 tires to get the one I posted. I like it but I still like the default too.
