I havn't played in ME1 and recognition of Kaidan in the cafe was a bit unexpected and strange for me.
I thought: Is that all? That's so simple?
My Shepard didn't make a single step forward, didn't say a one word, but already got Kaidan as LI. I'm planned romance with Kaidan, but not so... :unsure:

...loaded save and returned to Steve.

That's also a [minor] reason why I decided on Cortez. He is far more attractive to me despite Kaidan's HD face.

Yeah well initially I met up with Kaidan then went to Purgatory, but afterwards I felt like a dick, so I reuploaded to do it the other way around. :innocent: Poof! Rewrote history. Haha.

I did this once. And I felt awful. I had to do the same thing too.

I agree. As someone who has never played ME1, I couldn't identify with Kaidan because my only previous interactions with him were Horizon and Mars - neither of which displayed much of him as a person. I will say Shepard's and Kaidan's interactions on Mars were cute, but then Kaidan was injured for most of the first half of the game. In that time, I got to know Steve - much better than I ever got to know Kaidan in game. I fell in love with Steve's story and character, thus I romanced him though I had planned to romance Kaidan since ME2.
