So..here I am walking to the mountains with good ole Sten at my side...going for the Urn of Sacred Asses....Wheeeeennnn.....

Sten- Is this really necessary? Maybe you're not cut out to be a leader.
Me- You think you can lead any better?

I mean of course I beat him...but wht?  I had to prove myself and my leadership skills because I take a sidetrip to get a pinch of ass? er..ash. Has anyone else had this same trip?

Afterwards I got a nice boost in ratings with him..but still... I don't think my trust level is high, even though his approve rating is now.

When he spoke to me about it i got a +2 approval of him for my answer he did not attack me but I already had done his personal quest so his approval was already around 70 - 80

It ties in with his racial fixation on duty, he doesn't like doing things that in his eyes don't appear directly connected to engaging the darkspawn and the archdemon.



From there I guess one can extrapolate and assume it's fair game to challenge for leadership among the qunari, and that the strongest/most capable person assumes command.

I think that if you have earned his respect by doing his quest or by giving him a lot of gifts, you can still make him not go attack you. At least, so I heard. Never actually had him there...

He looks like he didnt sleep for at least a week to me. I get kinda irrational if I dont sleep that long too.

You have to treat him as a common soldier, You are the commander and he shall not questiojn you just do as he is told. Like: "I'm not here to impress you" etc increrases his approval of you.

Yes. keep your answers short and to the point. if he challenges you at the mountain accept the challenge and forget persuading/intimidation.

I just intimidated him down. Mind you, I had a very high approval rating with him and 4 levels in coercion.

Sten doesn't operate on the principles you would expect a normal person to.

Sten is single-minded to the extreme. He hated when I agreed to help defend Redcliffe against the undead, in spite of the fact I told him we were doing it because we needed their help TO fight the Darkspawn. Would have thought that, as a warrior, he would understand that it just makes tactical sense to have as many allies as you can get.

I hated Sten on my first playtrough.

I'm loving Sten on my second playtrough. Only Oghren has better commentary.

never liked Sten never bothered to have him in my party...but after finishing the game twice... on my second playthrough i let him rot in the cage... but now i want him to be in my party all the time, mostly because i got inspired by the sacred ashes trailer... man..thats the Sten i want

You can come out of redcliff with postive standing gain for Sten by bullying lloyd and the elven spy into fighting.

It was so gratifying to get "What is your command, Kadaan" at 100% loyalty

Nobody can tell people off like Sten, I love him now I know which buttons to press.

Everything you need to know about Sten can be learned from his interaction with your dog. He's much more difficult/interesting to influence than Lelianna and Alistair who only respond positively to "Ooh, I'm so sorry" and agreeing with them on everything.
