It would be entirely unethical for Bioware to ban players for abusing this exploit.

Like falling through maps, this was built into the game (unintentionally), and no outside manipulation is needed. All it takes is three button presses and a high enough latency to pull off. It's random.

There is no hacking. There is no cheating. Cheating is gaining an unfair advantage over someone else. Anyone can do this. It's so simple you could do it by accident. Exploits are not cheating. Superbouncing in Halo 2 is an exploit. Wavedashing in Smash Bros is an exploit. Reload animation canceling is an exploit.

I agree that Bioware should be aware of the problem, and something of this magnitude should be fixed. But if they ban a single player over something that they allowed them to do, then that is just wrong.

*facepalm*

Why? Why are there so many ignorant people here that believe that animation canceling (reload canceling) is an exploit?

Why?

Did they miss the memo? They obviously have missed the official BioWare statements that explain that it is A FEATURE. NOT AN EXPLOIT.

Let's put the reload canceling argument on the backburner guys.

We need to join forces agianst this. Nerfing / buffing and all agruments are on hold until this is fixed.

You are a wise man.  This is the message I am trying to get across.

We must stand together agianst this.

SymbolicGamer wrote, "There is no hacking. There is no cheating. Cheating is gaining an unfair advantage over someone else."

It's an unfair advantage over the BioWare company and all it's employees. Like it or not the game and MP are the way they are. I completely doubt I have to explain why but you should know that in short, when done on purpose this glitch is attacking BioWare. A company that loves to give free DLC's and a lot of personal invested time into the community.

I'm sure by now they know about it. If they do ban people who abuse this glitch I am sure they will do so knowing who likely abused it and who "accidently" did it. And that's their business. Anyways from what people are saying, it's not so easy to do and would be most unlikely to happen a lot by accident. This topic has done what it needed to do. Thank you for letting us and BioWare all know.

You do not consume your own missiles to do this.

Banning is a quick-fix band-aid that does not fix the problem, only threatens us as the the consumer.

Pushing the issue will result in this being fixed sooner. While they HAVE to release a patch to fix this, they might as well include fixes for the the other problems we are facing.

I'm going out a limb for this. I'm willing to take the heat for the greater good of all.

Whatever it takes.

You are likely to get a permanent  ban for spreading illicit content, especially if others report you as I have.:police:

Indeed.  Now we all stop the arguing until this is resolved.  We all want this glitch gone.  The sooner, the better.

Scarecrow tactics? It's called living in the real world, and in the real world companies don't like you messing with their profits or pushing them around, It's not about the glitch anymore with this thread, it's about you spreading the glitch in a malicious manner designed to do Bioware actual harm.... If you don't see how you risk banning for doing so, that's on you. Yes this glitch is a problem, and no it won't get fixed by you nagging them even more, they're just more likely to ban you. I was honestly trying to help you by advising you back down apologize, if you're not going to, well... I tried to be helpful, and it's been nice playing with you.

I have no reason to apologize.  This was already out there, a simple google search will turn up multiple results.  I will not apologize or back down, I did not create this game breaking glitch.

The can go ahead and ban me.  If they want to resort to those fear-mongering techniques while ignoring the problem that will kill this game within a month, that just goes to show how very far they have fallen.

Stand with those who know this needs to be fixed and threats and bans won't do the job.  Lucius Aelius, we want you on the right side of this battle.

I want the glitch fixed but, as Lucius (and many others) said, you could've presented this information more tastefully. Why would you be remembered as a hero anyways? It's not even your video. You just spread the word in ...this... fashion.

Banning is not a "fear-mongering" tactic. It's a punishment.

Edit: For that matter, why are you so dead-set on the "I must be the martyr" act?
Edit2: Wow. Getting out of here and hoping for the best. This is getting too cultish for my taste. There's no reasoning with you. I'm on your side. I just don't agree with you. Understand that.

And for the record, neither Bioware nor any other company cares if the glitch is their fault, using it to your advantage (rather than see it's not right and quit the game you're in immediately) will always be your fault and thus a bannable offense, they did it with every other exploit and they'll do it with this. It may be annoying to people that reality is the way it is, but that's life. Stop complaining about Bioware banning people for it (which if you use exploits, you are asking for it) and stop threatening them with loss of profits, anyone found too far over the line (like the OP) are all to likely to find themselves banned just for distributing the glitch and not being sorry about it.

And no, DNC Protoman, you won't be remembered as a hero, you'll be remembered as the fool who didn't know when to swallow his pride and back down. It's like I said dude, we've played together in PUGs, you're a damn fine player, it would be a shame to lose you for no good reason. I'm amazed you haven't been banned already, stop pushing your luck and apologize already.

I couldn't say it all this well in my post but I tried when I said that this topic had already done what it needed to do and thanks for letting us know.

Lucius is right, you should personally stop now. I'd go play some matches and have fun.

They can ban me all they want. I want this acknowledged. I'd even be happy with a:

"We will haved this fixed in 1-2 weeks in the meantime it will be a bannable offense" replay from them.

that's all I want. This glitch goes so far beyond anything else we've seen so far in gamebreakingness that it must be put dead center in the limelight.

One question to all posters: If this only started happening since the 1.03 Patch, and that patch didn't fix any of the MP problems it was supposed to, wouldn't it be easier to simply ask that the game be rolled back to 1.02 until a 1.03A/1.04 Patch fixes the issues it was supposed to?

I received an invite to a group by my friend for a U/U/G match with 4 infiltrators. When the match began (Geth on Condor), one guy talked about using the "missile glitch" with his scorpion. Soon enough, he received numerous kills with the "missile launcher" until finally it stopped working on wave 3. It was an ugly game in which I had over 15 revives by wave 6 or 7 and it nearly took 40 minutes to complete it.

When the match ended, I quickly left the lobby and chat room. I have no time to deal with that crap. If it happens again, I will quit the match.

I still think it's funny that reload glitch is dandy and this is abhorrent. Both are exploiting bugs it's just a matter of how much an advantage is gained thats the problem.

In any case it's probably one out of a 100 annoying things people do to eachother online and the easiest thing to do is to count your losses and leave.

OMG! We have told you 15 TIMES.... 15 TIMES, that reload canceling IS NOT A GOD DAMNED EXPLOIT. It's a freaking FEATURE.

Seriously, how thick is your skull if you can't get that through it? It must be made of the same material as the counters at the bottom of Firebase White...

In Your Humble Oppinon ;)

In Developers Opinion. If you don't agree with devs who made this game that's your problem though.

Well I must have missed that. There certainly isn't anything ingame about it so it IS rather obscure isn't it?

Nevertheless the point was valid that some glitches gets accepted and others are over the top. :)

Personally I just hate bugs... In maps, games, drivers, windows and what not.

It's going to require a patch, which we all know is not a quick thing at all. I agree - it should have been reported to as many top Bioware guys as necessary to get an acknowledgement, and not publicly posted. I understand your logic, but I think it was a bad idea.

All you had to do was google search it.  if you saw it done once and searched, BAM there you go.  I'm not giving any new info here, I'm pointing it out so we can all stand together and get it fixed.

This is a sad but necessary step.  Let's hope it's quick and done right.

Except I, and judging from this thread, many others, have never seen it done, or heard of it to do a Google in the first place. This, and the other threads about it have most assuredly advertised it to more people than could easily be counted, who will tell their friends, who will tell their friends....

Good idea, bad execution. Too late now - no point in arguing over it. Just popping my 2 cents in.
