Yes, the caps were on purpose because this does require attention.

I see the infinite missile glitch thread and how many views it and the video has gotten.  I see a lot of fear that it will spiral out of control and break the game.  It will not.   Before it ever gets to that point, we, as a community, can stop it.  Keeping this thread kicked will go a long way to making that happen.  Now first a caveat:  I do not work for Bioware.  However, I do not need to in order to say the following dead serious and factual declaration:

IF YOU ABUSE THIS GLITCH YOU WILL BE BANNED OUTRIGHT.

This is the epitome of cheating.  On the top of this forum there is a thread that serves as a warning for cheaters.  Let it be known, that if you use this glitch, whether you have your feedback turned off or not, bioware can see this on the server side and easily be able to tell if you are partaking in it.  And have no doubt; if they see you abusing this glitch they will ban you outright for cheating.

I'm not making that up.  Cheaters have no place in this game and this is no doubt one of the most blatant violations of cheating there can be.  Do not blame Bioware for having not fixed it.  That will not save you.  They've been notified and I'm sure will be working on it.  In the meantime, heed the above warning.  You can't do it, period.  You might want to, but don't.  You will be putting your account at risk.  It's that simple.

i say this not to be authoritative.  I say this because so many people read these boards but may never post.  They need to know the consequences.  As long as we all spread the message of how serious a violation this is and that a user will be banned for it, then this WILL NOT spiral out of control.   Knowledge is power.  If people fear doing this, as they should, then the overwhelming majority of people simply will not do it.

So keep this thread kicked so that any player who chooses to browse these boards can see the warning.   If people talk about this glitch in game, I can guarantee you that many players that overhear it will come here looking for info.  Is it real?  Are there consequences?  Etc.  This thread serves to let them know that yes, it is real.  But yes, there are severe consequences.  Just don't do it.  It is not worth losing your privilege to play this aweseome game that you love to play.

PSA done.  Let it end here.  Let us all do our part and spread the word that doing this will in fact get you banned.  Do that, and keep this thread kicked, and I assure you the fears of this running rampant simply will not come to fruition.

On edit:  some would like to confuse the issue and imply that the above statements are not factual and that this either isn't cheating or considered bannable.  They are wrong on all counts.  The above is factual and the consequences valid.
(this is in regards to the following thread:  social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/343/index/12614151)

I rather have people do it, so I can report them and have them banned. I'm just that evil.

Hear, hear.

If I don't need guns as a Novaguard, why do I need infinite missiles?

The massive 150 post thread on the matter wasn't enough attention on this matter so you made another?

Which will likely be filled with the same exact trolls any second now?

I almost never agree with you. Actually, I've never agreed with you as far as I know.

This time. This one time... you're right. Bioware will draw a line where it could be an accident and anything above that, banned faster than the n7 pack glitchers.

Get over yourself, really.  There is a difference between a thread that informs people of its existence in which people are just discussing its implications; and one that serves as a blunt warning for partaking in it.  This thread most definitely has a purpose.  Putting it right in peoples faces right in the OP that this will get you banned is exactly what is necessary to stop this before it ever even begins to spiral out of control.

I really hope they will be banned.
Run into a such glitch once is a thing using it over and over again it's another.

What do you suggest to do if we encounter players who use that glitch?
Leave the match and report them or finish the game and report them?
I suppose I'd leave the game even though it's very unpleasing wasting equipement and loosing credits due to cheaters.

This is accually the first I have heard of this glitch but it looks as though this glitch could be duplicated easily though honest means. To be an effective psa you should probably inform people how to avoid said glitch and if they find their scorpion shooting cobras can they break it by switching weapons. A six paragraph tirade about how cheating is bad is not a PSA.

The more you know...

The only people that feel the need to use infinite missiles are just so hopelessly bad at this game they deserve to be castrated by Garrus.

Didn't even know this glitch thing existed.

But I did find myself bristling a bit over the tone of the post, OP.

A friendly heads-up sort of post I think would have been more appropriate than a dire, you will be DOOMED post - especially as you are not in a position of authority to be making threats...errr warnings to the community.

Your tone is agressive and too authoritarian, I don't like and others won't either. It's better to do these things with a more clinical approach and with less "YOU ARE DOOMED LOL!" sentences.

Mainly because this glitch is usually ACCIDENTAL as seen in the video, I've personally never seen it in any of my games, but if I see it ONCE I have no right to complain, report or ban the player, the poor guy may have simply pressed the "change weapon" button while firing a missile...

If I see it twice, then yes, he is a cheater.

In short, this thread sucks and it shoud be deleted. :S

Oh for god's sake get a grip (and the other one above too).  Of course they're not gonna ban anyone for doing it accidentally.  It'll be pretty obvious to them who is and isn't.  But the WHOLE POINT of this thread was to be blunt and dire.  The whole point is to stop this before it gets out of control.  A friendly little PSA won't do that.  For something like this you have to be blunt and dire.  All the people who come here looking for info on the glitch need to realize that this isn't something to mess around with.  If they see the dire warning, I bet my bottom dollar they won't do it. To be effective it has to strike fear, this sense that if you do it intentionally you'll be ****ed.

See, the biggest problem with the money glitch was that there was NEVER a thread that outright came out and called it cheating and bannable.  Before I ever joined I would constantly search online to see if there was now a thread stating it was.  SO MANY people did the glitch becauase one, they thought if feedback was turned off they wouldn't get caught, and two, because most weren't really even sure if it was cheating or bannable to begin with.

I can assure you, had I come across a thread like this I would've never done the credit glitch or allowed my friends to do so.  I would've known straightaway that I could be banned for it and that it wasn't worth the risk.  If there was a thread like this at the time, I bet you anything the credit glitch would never have spiraled out of control.

So that is the point of this.  It's putting a stamp on the issue.  A blunt message of don't do it.  You will be caught and banned.  Trust me when I say that most reading it wouldn't then go and try it.

I should have your support with this.  The whole community should send out the same dire warning to any lobbies we come across where it is discussed.  But a friendly little PSA doesn't do it, cause friendly leaves some doubt as to severity.  Severity and fear, are what matter here with this.  I know I'm babbling (I just woke up) but I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.

The two are unrelated.  The latter is already explained in the OP.  The former is because that name has been my trademark for almost 20 years, and it has always been in caps.

This isn't cheating, this is glitching.

edit: Which doesn't make it ok obviously, but I don't see how Bioware could ban people who do this.

I still think my Scorpion should do that much damage anyway... but I can't get the little balls to blow up on target anymore... b/c SOMEONE is using the stupid Krysae.

Ban the Krysae.

So what? Is that your problem?

People that glitch have one thing in common: They do not care what you or Bioware think. Let them get banned.

So you're saying anyone that uses this glitch or who would want to is automatically hopelessly bad at this game? Although I disagree with you, we're all entitled to our own opinions. Personally, I'd like to try using this glitch just to see how it feels to one shot everything. Does it mean I suck at the game? No. I'd rate myself average at best but I do like the feeling of being godly in my video games every once in a while.

Abusing an exploit or glitch IS cheating.  This is such blatant cheating I'm amazed you think otherwise.  But it is cheating.  You need to know that.  Bioware can and will ban people who abuse it.  That's a fact.  You need to educate yourself on glitching, exploits, cheating, by reading the stickied thread on the top of the forum that explains all about cheating.
