Yes, the caps were on purpose because this does require attention.

I see the infinite missile glitch thread and how many views it and the video has gotten.  I see a lot of fear that it will spiral out of control and break the game.  It will not.   Before it ever gets to that point, we, as a community, can stop it.  Keeping this thread kicked will go a long way to making that happen.  Now first a caveat:  I do not work for Bioware.  However, I do not need to in order to say the following dead serious and factual declaration:

IF YOU USE THIS GLITCH YOU WILL BE BANNED OUTRIGHT.

This is the epitome of cheating.  On the top of this forum there is a thread that serves as a warning for cheaters.  Let it be known, that if you use this glitch, whether you have your feedback turned off or not, bioware can see this on the server side and easily be able to tell if you are partaking in it.  And have no doubt; if they see you abusing this glitch they will ban you outright for cheating.

I'm not making that up.  Cheaters have no place in this game and this is no doubt one of the most blatant violations of cheating there can be.  Do not blame Bioware for having not fixed it.  That will not save you.  They've been notified and I'm sure will be working on it.  In the meantime, heed the above warning.  You can't do it, period.  You might want to, but don't.  You will be putting your account at risk.  It's that simple.

i say this not to be authoritative.  I say this because so many people read these boards but may never post.  They need to know the consequences.  As long as we all spread the message of how serious a violation this is and that a user will be banned for it, then this WILL NOT spiral out of control.   Knowledge is power.  If people fear doing this, as they should, then the overwhelming majority of people simply will not do it.

So keep this thread kicked so that any player who chooses to browse these boards can see the warning.   If people talk about this glitch in game, I can guarantee you that many players that overhear it will come here looking for info.  Is it real?  Are there consequences?  Etc.  This thread serves to let them know that yes, it is real.  But yes, there are severe consequences.  Just don't do it.  It is not worth losing your privilege to play this aweseome game that you love to play.

PSA done.  Let it end here.  Let us all do our part and spread the word that doing this will in fact get you banned.  Do that, and keep this thread kicked, and I assure you the fears of this running rampant simply will not come to fruition.

(this is in regards to the following thread:  social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/343/index/12614151)

Your assuming mutch.  You don't leave a glitch like this in the game.  PERIOD. You don't leave a gamebreaker in and ask people to play nice.

It's not the players responsabiility to not use this, it's the devs job to get it out of the game.

OK IAMREALITY I can see that you feel you are doing the community a service, and I appreciate your concern for the community and the game at large.

However, maybe because I'm all grown up now that I take offense to being scolded at like a schoolgirl. Your tone made me want to not read your post at all...I decided to deal with it so that I could figure out what you were talking about. (yes, curiosity killed the Mina, more than once in MP for sure!)

I think part of the problem is that you are taking the responsibility unto yourself to try and strike "fear" into the hearts of missle glitchers. However, this is a responsibility firmly in BioWare's park. Let them handle it.

This appears to fall under a "Tier Two" offence under the cheating policy.
They've already posted the consequences and given players the ability to report it- details of which are in this sticky topic for those who have missed it though I don't see how: http://social.biowar.../index/12467716

Maybe next time, send this to yourself. Cheaters know they're cheating. What's the punishment for cheating? Banishment.

Last thing we need is another batch of self-appointed thought police in this forum.

Agreed.  Instead of trying to scare people so the issue does not get resolved, he should be encouraging as many that can to message Bioware about this,

This should not be ignored.  It won't go away.  We all need to work together here.  Let's voice this to Bioware.  LOUDLY.

Let's save this game.

This shouldn't be possible as it is.  That's the point.  Something like this should need a file hack to do.  In which case perma-bans are reasonable.

This....is just wrong.

Work  together friends.  We must join forces to beat this.

Maybe this will show bioware how important speedy bug fixes are.  God knows they need to be taught that.

It's both, really.  The devs need to get on this as fast as possible, but players will have to pay the piper if they choose to take advantage of it in the meantime.

I'm laughing my ass off at those of you insulted by the tone lol. I mean grow up. Seriously.

I'm not scolding anyone and there is not one intention in that post meant to insult. It is merely a message meant for those who may not read here everyday and otherwise may not know the policy of cheating. Get a grip.

I hate your tone as well. But it doesn't matter. The facts are facts: this glitch is damaging their INCOME and that makes me absolutely sure they will ban people for using it. As simple as that.

Agreed. But if devs can't get their s**t together in months that's unacceptable.

Right.  It must be known to all though.  This needs corrected.

Jesus, Bioware needs to fix this immediately.

IMO, glitches are on the company that produces the game, since there are literally ALWAYS going to be people willing to exploit some glitch. The MP community is decreasing fast enough as it is... would rather they fix it than start banning people for exploiting their mistake.

I should've known the children would come out to play lol.

If you can't see the genuine point of this thread and the need for it, then I truly feel sorry for you. This thread has nothing to do with ego, but I think you know that. I think you just felt the immature need to attack me, as you always do. So childishly pathetic.

It would be entirely unethical for Bioware to ban players for abusing this exploit.

Like falling through maps, this was built into the game (unintentionally), and no outside manipulation is needed. All it takes is three button presses and a high enough latency to pull off. It's random.

There is no hacking. There is no cheating. Cheating is gaining an unfair advantage over someone else. Anyone can do this. It's so simple you could do it by accident. Exploits are not cheating. Superbouncing in Halo 2 is an exploit. Wavedashing in Smash Bros is an exploit. Reload animation canceling is an exploit.

I agree that Bioware should be aware of the problem, and something of this magnitude should be fixed. But if they ban a single player over something that they allowed them to do, then that is just wrong.

I would agree that it is a form of cheating, (IMHO) but its going to be impossible to catch people doing this. If they only do it in private matches with friends. There is nothing we can do, thus this thread is somewhat pointless

You're wrong my friend. They can tell, private match or not. Abusing this glitch will absolutely be a bannable offense, no matter your settings.

Banning our fellow players is not the solution.

Fixing this glitch is.

Stand together.

Reload canceling IS NOT AN EXPLOIT. This comes directly from BioWare.

That maybe true but why talk to us about it? Let Bioware do what they are going to do. I think talking about it on these forums will only invite trolls to do what they do best.

Bioware is already aware of this and they will be fixing it.  But players who abuse it and cheat absolutely should be banned.  That shouldn't even be in question,.

Except it isn't cheating. It's an exploit. There's a difference. It's a bug that should be fixed, but you can't take action against people for just playing the game.

Unless you're using it to grief other players, this does not violate anything in the cheating and online procedures thread that was made by an actual Bioware employee.

So far I haven't seen any official response regarding this exploit.

It's really evident who doesn't know what rights you do (or rather don't) have to your account. The people who believe you cannot be banned for this.

You will be taking advantage of an exploit that ruins the game experience of others. Doesn't really matter what your stance is on reload cancelling and ingame bugs. Having even an inkling of understanding in how things work in the game industry can help your insight here.

Your post isn't meant to insult. You'd rather do that on a person-to-person basis, eh?
