There I was killing time in Wal-Mart's electronic department  To my suprise I find "Dragon Age - Dawn of the Seeker", movie sitting in the DVD releases. I thought I was pretty up to date on what was happening at Bioware but finding this movie there was a complete suprise.

And now I just confirmed that there is no link from the Dragon Age II site to this movie. If it is here is is buried and I was not able to find it easily. Why isn't this mentioned anywhere on the site?

I loved the movie and think every Dragon Age fan should pick one up. Check it out at Dragonagemovie.com

Edit:
I just saw a discussion in the Game owner Discussion forum. Oh well, my question is still valid. Wonder why there isnt a link off the main site.

Voice acting was horrid (few exceptions), the plot was obvious from the start, the animation was too "clean" and odd, action was really weird (a thousand ogres and golems show up in one fight scene and Cassandra just slices through solid rock) and much more.

Felt more like "Dragon Age for Kids, ft Blood" to me.

I had low expectations and managed to enjoy it. It could've been a lot worse.

I was planning on passing this video up considering all the negative reviews it received. But from the fans of Dragon Age series say that it is an "O.K." movie that only appeals to those familiar with the concept of Dragon Age. So I decided I will get it. Unfortunately, I have to wait a little longer to order it online because the retail stores around my city don't seem to carry it.

I loved it. I thought it was alot of fun, lots of cool action scenes. The story itself was a little simple and straightforward but for me that wasn't a bad thing. Not every story can be filled with unexpected twists and turns. I found the characters to be enjoyable, some movies try to cram too much complexity into the characters but DOTS again kept it simple and straightforward. I would recommend this movie to anyone wanting a little bit of Dragon Age action.

I heard the movie was less than mediocre.
Even the people at the Dragon Age wiki thought the entire movie was an abomination that should never have been made.

It is a must see if you want to spend money watching Cassandra in an anime doing over-exaggerated anime crap.

I wasn't a fan; IMO there was only one worthwhile part in the entire movie and it has something to do with a Pride Demon and a High Dragon.

That was my experience, as well. It isn't something I'll watch over and over, but I've done less enjoyable things for 90 minutes.

I guess it's important to keep your expectations low going into it. Consider the genre. If you go in expecting epic drama, you're going to be disappointed. If you go in expecting to be reasonably entertained by something fluffy, you should be fine.

TOTALLY AGREE and also want.

i loved the story in DA2, it fullfilled expanding the canon of Thedas.

and yes i LOVE the movie.
i'm lucky enough to watch it on blu-ray and a 40" LED samsung @120hz....

it looks so cool too, i would LOVE to see more from funimation.
how cool would it be to see a movie version, (maybe even a 3 parter, *chokes on inhaled excitement*) of the grey warden's story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you all enjoyed the seeker movie, check out VEXILLE!!!

also heralded by some of the bioware employees as a great watch too!!!! and it is oddly enough on netflix, which is supremely cool...   (and i'm supremely nerdy for being so excited about a movie that i used the word "supremely"..........)

Are some of you joking? I respect opinion of others, but common. This anime is truly worthless. Company who made it has some good productions behind, but this? Mixing up stylish overall world with bodies made of wax? Very weak in my opinion plot? Voice acting from theatre?

I don't know, maybe I'm too old to enjoy enything that comes in the alley from the genre, but movie was REALLY weak.

I enjoyed the movie.I can't say someone will enjoy it or not. That is for them to decide. If I had to rate the movie I'd give it a 7.5/10. It shine some light into Cassandra backstory. It make me more interested in her character. Hopefully she will be in DA3 as a companion & potential romance interest. I just hope they go with her look from the movie over the one in the game.

At least it looks more like the original art direction for Dragon Age than DA 2 did. Well, it's a combination of sorts. I agree with Dave that it looks entirely too clean but that's partly the cell shaded effect on the 3D animation models...a technique I'm not too fond of. The combat was highly rediculous looking to me, so it felt like DA 2, another negative. I just can't get excited about the movie. I hope DA 3 makes some serious back tracking in t he art direction department and more attention is paid to a tight story. The DA franchise feels like it's getting more and more generic.

I thought it was relatively well done as well. It was by far not the best anime I've ever seen, but I enjoyed it for what it was. I really liked the extras though, especially the tour of bioware.

Best bit was 4 circle mages ghostbustering it up against the demon at the end. Other than that it was, for me, a giant pile of meh. Also the fact that it was done with an anime style seemed an odd choice give the more western fantasy look the series has. I think I'd have rather seen them use in-game models that would have at least looked like the characters from the games.

It looks like utter crap! I saw the trailer and that was quite enough. Cassandra flying around looking like a Japanese school girl killing dragons for fun with a swiss army knife? No thanks....

Why did they use this style that looks like cel shading animation? I bet someone felt really smart coming up with the idea to use it, but if you use an anime studio, for the love of god, let them DRAW the film.
Cel shading was used (as an example) by japanese rpgs to come as close as possible to anime animation. To actually use it in a movie in this way is just beyond me.

Oh and before someone complains: It LOOKS to me like cel shading. I don't know if they actually used it, but it sure looks like it.

I will stick to games trying to look like anime, thank you very much... games like Dragon Quest 8 and Tales of Symphonia... not japanese anime trying to look like japanese anime.

I actually thought it was pretty cool. Okay, there was some silly bits, but overall it was good. And this coming from someone who really hates the Japanese/anime style.

Shhh! That's the end of the chapter, where everybody (including the mages and templars) has to side together to face the "greater threat"...

Yes, I noticed that too, and the fights look so exaggerated, I mean Cassandra cutting solid rock like butter?, killing dragons with a swiss knife? no, no thanks, but I think that's too much. If they make a game like that movie, I WON'T BUY IT.
