And extra strength on soldiers would be great too.

everybody seems to agree.. now we'll know if BW "REALLY" listens.
About 50 people on BSN agree, not exactly a good sample size to justify such a huge upturning of the underlying weapon system. Especially since adding Gear modified the separate Multiplayer system that has no relation to the Single Player, while the weapon mod system does. They may have even planned for gear from the beginning but ran out of time and had to complete it through DLC.
On topic, the only Soldiers really in need of buffs are the Krogan and maybe the Vorcha and only due to the fact that their Sentinel counterparts outdo them.
Human Soldier with Claymore/Harrier/other hard hitting weapon with Adrenaline Rush and Frag Grenades has burst damage like no one else. Not to mention that AR refills shields when maxed, making them one of the only classes that can heal themselves.
Batarian Soldier is king of CC and melee with the only disadvantage being stunlocking (something the Sentinel has as well) which only really hurts their ability to fight Geth.
Turian Soldier makes good weapons like the Hurricane stable and melt face even harder than other classes, though they could use some more mobility/health, but then again all the slow classes could use that.
Really, the Krogan Sentinel is just bulkier than the Soldier with Tech Armor and more immediately damaging grenades and the Vorcha Sentinel has Cluster Grenades instead of Carnage to help with Bloodlust stacks and cooldowns. Other than that the soldiers are not bad as they are, people just need to play to their strengths more.

So what makes Soldiers really stand apart from other classes in Mass Effect 3 now? Not much. Other classes can use the same weapons, and the class as a whole can generally be out-performed.
Now I don't want to turn this into a discussion of what needs to be buffed or nerfed, and frankly I've had a lot of success on Soldiers with Adrenaline Rush/Marksman; these are abilities that make the class what it is.
So that leads me to my proposition: Soldiers have the ability to use an extra weapon mod (on each weapon).
I know, it sounds crazy right? If we get new mods in the next DLC, this change would really shine. As of right now, most weapons really don't need 3 mods to feel effective. But wouldn't it feel nice to know you didn't have to dump that piercing mod? Never wanted to sacrifice a slot for a scope? As a Soldier, your weapons should be the best. Why should you have to choose between a small selection of mods like every other class?
I can't argue with that.

I never understood why they didn't give soldiers armor instead of health. Having it it mirror the effects given to NPCs.
How about armour on top of health.
Shields, then armour (which once damaged, is fixed by James Vega inbetween missions)
On top of additional mods for guns. Good thinking
Soldier: No need for ammo mods. Replace them with actual powers.
Adrenaline Rush
Armour (a non-regenerating layer of armour inbetween health and shields.)
Assassinate (a laser beam guides all scoped weapons, doing extra damage and raising accuracy)
Melee Boost (A boost to melee attacks)
Concussive Shot

I personally think that every soldier power should either enhance or be enhanced by their choice of weapon.

Good idea, but probably won't happen. It's probably complicate to do that, since it change even the weapon visual, I doubt they will even try to do it. It's more viable to just raise the cooldown bonus, allow to use 3 guns, give more weapon damage bonus on the passive ability, that kind of stuff, easier to apply..

With all the really game breaking bugs this should be of no concern even if its a permanent quick&dirty solution.
